Hello all, Just wondering what kind of monitor i should choose for flightsim: IPS or TN based monitor? I know the differences about speed, brightness, prices, ... But what should you recommend me, if it is specific for flightsimming (P3D)? Thanks for any advices, William

So I was finally excited when my wife let me buy the 500$ joystick HOTA rig and to my surprise Thrustmaster.com has been down since the 17th. Does anyone have the drivers for the joystick that can put up for download? You would make my day!! I have profiles for X plane, MS SIM and IR2 but profiles don't do me much good with windows 10 64 default drivers for them :( Thank you so much in advance!!! Jim

I own an EVGA 1070 FTW, and have always had great FPS performance with it, in all my sim platforms. I have always (after reading many forums, and technical opinions/papers) used Adaptive, as my nVidia power setting for the card. This morning, due to some other opinions on Avsim, that Prefer Max Power is the way to go, and despite the fact that thermal drop-back and roll-off of produced freq's in the card can be had when reaching the cards protective thermal ceilings, I decided to try a little experiment out. I switched my Global power setting to Prefer Max Power, and took this setting through XP10, XP11 beta 11, FSX DX10 (Steve's Fixer latest), and P3D 3.4 …

Hello, now that I've got my new i7 7700k up and running, I'm starting to contemplate a GPU upgrade. I have a GTX770, and while my overall fps are good, when I get into clouds etc my fps do drop. I've done the check shrinking my screen size and my fps go up. I checked gpu utilization and it's at 100% when flying through clouds. My display is 1440p in p3dv3. All this leads me to believe I'm GPU limited now, so I'm contemplating an upgrade to a GTX1070. Has anyone made a similar upgrade? Comments, thoughts? I've read a few things on this forum about the gtx1070 being overkill for P3D...any other options out there? Thanks

Hi, I am running FSX SE at 3840 x 2160 resolution on a 40” monitor using a 980ti locked at 30fps, runs quite smooth with setting adjusted reasonably high, obviously a bit of stuttering in very busy areas but generally ok, and looks very stunning at that resolution. I appreciate FSX is cpu bound and I am using a 6700k overclocked to 4949 GHz, but my question is the 980ti 6 GB Video memory, and I know it is pure speculation but when (and if) the 1080ti comes out and has 12 GB or even 10GB of video memory, would that help with the resolution I am running? Many thanks Steve

I am looking to upgrade my venerable GTX980 to the 1080. Which would offer the best bang-for-the-buck, FE, FTW some other one? System specs are i4790 stable at 4.6. I'm running P3D with a triple (1080) monitor setup all using DisplayPort I will say I am partial to EVGA cards as the past ones have treated me well. Thanks Kevin

After many years I'm at the verge of saying goodbye to my faithful i7-920 which is accompanied by a GeForce 660ti. I'm looking into getting an i5-7600k or perhaps the AMD Ryzen (waiting for experience reports on the latter one). Biggest question right now is which graphics card to get. I don't play any games other than P3D though I don't want to rule out installing XP11 one day. If money weren't an object I would go for the highest possible but unfortunately money is quite the limiting factor. In my country the GTX 1070 is roughly €150-€200 (which equates to roughly the same numbers in USD) more expensive than a GTX 1060. If I'm convinced the 1070 will be worth…

I would like to move up from a 27 inch LG monitor to a 40 to 50 inch 4K screen. With all of the hipe over the HDR built into some of the higher priced TVs, is it really worth the extra several hundred dollars to do this in order to run X-plane 11 and to use it as a daily computer? X-plane has a HDR setting in the program that is suppose to enhance the video and would this be a similar HDR as found in the expensive 4K tvs? Would the 4K screen of say the Samsung 6000 series give me good enough video from a GTX 980 card? I will be setting about two feet from the screen. Not a big desk and blind in one eye and poor vision in the other. Terry

I have a KFA2 GTX780Ti with what looks like an Nvidia Titan style cooler. I want to create a slightly positive air flow in my case but need to know what the air flow out due to the graphics card will be. Can't find this info anywhere, any ideas or estimates?

So I currently have a QNIX 27 inch monitor (2560x1440), but I have the opportunity to pick up three 21 inch monitors (1920 x 1080) with a mount. No TH2G, so I'd be plugging them into my GTX970. I'm excited because I'd be able to do 3 monitors for a wide viewing area, but nervous about going down from a 27" to a 21" (even if there is 3 of them...) Do I have a valid concern? What would you do? Also, would I need a TH2G in order to actually use all 3 screens within P3d? Or can I do the same with just my video card?

Hello: Is the Acer Predator X34 Curved monitor too much for FSX SE &/or P3D V3? By that I mean is it compatible? Will I run into any kind of issues? https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824009869 Thank you.

Hello people, I already asked this question in the MS FSX forum, but nobody seems to be able to help me. Remember the VSync 1/2 refresh rate discovery a few years ago, with the new levels of smoothness it would get us? A topic about this was posted here a few years ago. Basically this option would allow us to run FSX smoothly and fluidly, and of course eliminate the tearing. It's simple: if you can maintain 30 FPS at least, you can enable VSync 1/2 refresh rate in NVIDIA Inspector (for 60 Hz monitors), and get a super smooth FSX. Without it, FSX should run pretty smoothly too (it does on my system), but it's just not the same smoothness as VSync 1/2 refresh ra…

I found an awesome phone, android with gyro and a bunch of good stuff at a ridiculous good price. It dug into my Occulus Rift money but it was too good a deal to pass up, the 6" screen will make it easier for me to type when dialing/texting etc. IThen a light bulb went off, Vridge allows Occulus Rift games and Steam VR games to read your phone as an actual Occulus Rift, and I was not able to try it before as I was using an IOS phone and wished I had an Android, well now I do, 6" HD (1920x1080) screen, a gyroscope, quad core processor, etc... I downloaded it and tried the demo, and it was awesome but kind of tied up with my 3' charging cord tethered to the PC f…

Is anyone using a GTX1070 with a 4K monitor? I know, a 1080 would be better, but that's like anything. What I want to know if anyone is enjoying this combination and whether they are happy with the performance, or if they wish they had invested in a 1080. Cheers fellas.

To address the heat issue with the 1080 ACX cooler, EVGA have designed a new ICX cooler. You can independently control each fan on the cooler, one to cool the VRM and one for the GPU. Also lots of improvements to the back plate and thermal pads. In addition, a fuse has been added to the PCB, so it will blow before anything nasty happens to other components. EVGA are also saying that even if you are beyond the step up program you will still be able to step up to the 1080 with ICX cooler for $90.

I read through many of the post but some of the topics are slightly outdated. I'm currently running a BenQ 32 2560x1440p on a i7 4790K, EVGA 1070 FTW on Windows 64. Right now I have great performance. I recently purchased a Samsung 40 UN40KU7000 but the mouse / panning was not what I seen online. I'm now leaning towards the Samsung UN40KU6300 which seems popular or even the BenQ 3201 4K monitor. Any recommendations would be helpful. The thing that turns me off with some monitors is the antiglare coating. The BenQ 3200 that I use has it slightly and I heard the 3201 was improved since it is a IPS display. What I did see on the UN40KU7000 was nice but lag turned me off. Tha…

I upgraded to a 4k moniter (not tv) over christmas time. I really like it....when theres very very little clouds in P3d. I am currently on a GTX970 and it handles 4k really well. However, once weather hits, FPS plummet. That being said, I am going to upgrade my GPU. I just dont know if shelling out an extra 225 bucks for the 1080 is worth it. Can any of you guys guide me to which one will do a better job in 4k with dense cloud situations? Or are they too close performance wise and not worth shelling out the extra cash for the 1080? Thanks!

As a new convert to P3D, I have managed to get virtually everything working well, except for runway lights at some airports. Many of the airports are socalled P3D compatible, such as Aerosoft's Lisbon, but for some reason many are missing runway lights. I have done some research online and it appears that this is not uncommon. What makes it worse is that no one appears to have a solution for this. However, I have read that some guys are discovering that the anomoly can be cured by changing the GPU driver. So my question is.... is there anyone who runs a GTX 1070 in P3D v3.4 who does not have this issue. If this is the case could you please share with me your driver versio…

I'll admit I stumbled onto this by accident after connecting my 780GTX, via HDMI cable, to a Sony XBR43X800D 4K model. I now launch FSX at 1920X1080X32 and then switch after startup to 3840X2160X32. While I don't fixate on my FPS values, this combo has given me the smoothest scenes without tearing or other artifacts. I left the Sony set at 1920X1080 (the recommended setting). This smoothness and high FPS is achieved with all Orbx Vector options checked, Orbx Global, etc. - I run AS16 and pretty heavy load of installed scenery. I am also running DX10 fixer and NI with this setup. AA is set in the sim. I haven't had the time yet to dig into the nuances of 4K displays…
