Hi all, Looking at the latest nvidia announcements I have been wondering if there is a real benefit for me upgrading to the 3090 from the 2080 Ti. I am using a 10900K at 5.1 Ghz and an ultrawide 3440x1440 resolution Dell display. I am pretty happy with this setup and I don't see going to 4K anytime soon. So in that respect, I was wondering if the 3090 would make a significant difference in my case. 3440x1440 is 50% less pixels than a 4K monitor, so do you think that a 3090 would be an overkill for my needs? I'd be glad to know your opinion.

Now that NVIDIA 3080 and 3090 specs are out the offerings look like 10 GB for the 3080 and 24 for the 3090. My 1080 at 8GB is really not up to the task anymore. This begs the question, what do we really need? I know 24 GB is better but do we need it. Greg

Just a quick question, got a Samsung LU28590DS monitor but iam unable to change it to 60 hz in the Display adaptor properties for display 1. All the option i have are 30 and below. The display resolution i got is set to 3840 by 2160. The question is that is it set automatically to 60 hz since i have read if you set it to 3840 by 2160 it does. Even in my nivida control panel there is no option to change it to 60 only 30 and below. I got the connection to HMDI to my pc and monitor.

  4. I have pretty much decided that I will be upgrading to the 3090 but not sure if I should go with the FE or the ASUS ROG STRIX 3090? Besides the aesthetics the FE hands down looks the best but asides from the 12pin connector are there any other differences between the 2? The ASUS has 3x8pin connectors. The 3090 is massive, and I hope the AIB models won't be bigger. I'm already concerned about fitting this in my case. With previous 2080ti, the FE was smaller and more compact when compared to the other AIB models.

Here we go: 3070 8Gb starting $499 in Oct. 3080 10GB starting $699 17. sept 3090 24 GB starting $1499 24. sept I think there is no really a need for the 3090 for people who are flying in 1080p, right? 3080 should run nicely with the MSFS?

Good day all. I was following a topic here regarding 4k TV and there was a discussion about Q80T 4K TV. Based on rtings.com it is one of the best TV for gaming after LG CX. But it has a burn-in risk. I am thinking to go with 49" Q80T but is does not have some features which are included in larger sizes of this series: The 49" variant of this TV has a 60Hz panel and doesn't support any VRR technology. Native Refresh Rate 60 Hz FreeSync Not supported G-SYNC Compatible - No I wonder if these missing G-SYNC option, no VRR and native refresh rate 60Hz will be an issues for flight simming. I was unable to find Samsung TVs supporting G-SYNC. …

Hi guys, Just seen they announced the RTX line up. I think ill be going for the 3080 in this case, twice as fast as the 2080. 3070 seems amazing too faster than a 2080ti for a third of the price. what cards will you guys be going for?.

Seems the 3080 will ship with 10 GB of Vram, Seeing windows 10 has increased allocated vram from 9 to 10 this is a down grade from the 2080 series for simmers and gamers in general, If we are allocated 10 GB minus the W10 1.2 GB vram uses for OS then you get less than 9 usable. MSFS uses 8+ of VRAM on ultra.... And i'm sure not many of us can afford the 3090 Titan with 24 G vram! https://www.guru3d.com/news-story/nvidia-geforce-rtx-3090-and-3080-specifications-leak.html

Folks, I need to replace my monitor, and would like to go 4K. It seems most of the monitors out there tap out beyond 27" at 144hz. I did find an Asus 43" that certainly looks awesome for flight sim/gaming, but I'm worried it may be too much monitor for web browsing, Microsoft Office, etc. Has anyone used a monitor this big for other task beside flight sim? It will sit on my desk, with me about 2.5 feet away. Thank you in advance for any advice!

Last night I, for the first time, carried my tower, key, mouse and yoke across the house to use my 55" OLED TV as monitor (my monitor is a simple 27" Dell 1080p monitor). Let's say that I really, really liked the experience (both for the 4K, even with a scale rendering of 70, and the real estate). As everyone knows, large computer monitors are way more expensive than similar-sized TV. I understand why a FPS gamer would be ready to invest a lot of money in order to get super super refresh rates and response times, but for flight simming... Yet before I more seriously shop around for a 50" 4K budget TV (e.g. TCL and Hisense), I want to know whether I'm missing somethi…

  14. My old GTX960 is running MSFS quite well at high settings and not so dense areas, but its temperature is around 75-80C constantly. Is that ok, or should it run lower than that? Thanks!

It's big, You`ll need 3 slots for 1 card, And most discerning is a lot of you will need a bigger case. That's if you can afford to buy one(3090 is a Titan). But it gives you an idea of how big the 3080 will be. https://www.guru3d.com/news-story/photos-of-flagship-geforce-rtx-3090-ampere-surface.html

I am not terribly computer savvy -- thus what is most assuredly a stupid question. I had three 1080p monitors successfully operating in Nvidia surround and MSFS 2020 yesterday (thanks to advice from this forum!). I had to disconnect and move my computer today, and although I have installed the monitors back into their original ports, the Nvidia surround configuration app no longer allows me to setup any resolution greater than 1080x3240. I recall it originally being 1080x5760. This seems to cause the monitors to align vertically. The app won't allow me to reorient the in landscape nor does it offer anything greater than 3240. All this in windows 10. Any a…

Very similar price, size, resolution. Dell has slightly lower response time and refresh but GSYNC native. LG slightly better but GSYNC compatible only. So for flight sim would you sacrifice refresh response to get a gsync native monitor vs one that is gsync compatible?

I just bought the corsair one (I9 9900 and 2080ti). Right now I am using a Benq GW2765 2560x1440 (some issues of shading on screen in top left corner). I use 3 monitors 1 for the sim and the other 2 for weather vpilot, STKP etc. I use p3d v5. I love how I can turn things up and things look great and is smooth. I am leaning towards the benq pd3200q (2560x1440) but I have read the 3200U is great. My question is if I went with the Benq 3200u 4k/uhd will I have to turn down a lot of settings to get the same smoothness? Thanks for any help you can give me Darcy

Heyo, I'm considering buying a new display to replace my 24" 1080p one. I am space limited, about 80cm is the maximum width for the display, so it's touch and go if a 34" curved ultrawide would fit, but I'd like the widest display I can fit. Either way, after looking at ultrawides for a while I realised that instead of maximum horizontal FOV, I might want better vertical FOV too when it comes to flight sims. So in you people's experience, for flight sims, ultrawide or regular widescreen? I'll probably fly big airliners on VATSIM 95% of the time, hoping to get TrackIR. I won't mind other tips on what I should look for in a display. I have a 1080ti so persona…

Hi all, Seeing the rumors that the new Nvidia 3000 series cards are around the corner, I am curious to ask if any of you using the upcoming MSFS can comment on how a 2080Ti handles. Is it actually GPU the limit? I read the 3080Ti will have huge amount of ram besides the core count increase. If these new 3080Ti are a game changer in MSFS I'll be hard to resist not selling my 2080Ti after some months. I guess in a week I'll know how to max out my 2080 Ti, just curious. The other question is how much these will cost and how much 2080 Ti prices will drop. I bought my 2080 Ti on launch at 1600 EUR (!) so I would hesitate to lose 1/3 of its price and sell it…

Anticipating a system upgrade for MSFS2020, I am starting to gather some info. My video card (GTX460) is clearly a goner but I am not sure what the replacement should be. I am on 1080p with a 27" monitor and doubt I will go for a much larger monitor. So my question is: would I see a noticeable difference between 1080p and 1440p on a 27" display? 4k is a non-starter (over budget). Thanks for sharing your experience and insight.
