Hello there! I am doing some research for my next monitor to play MSFS2020. I am hesitating between a VA panel with good contrast ratio and an IPS panel with decent HDR support. The room is pretty dark, which characteristic do you think is more important, contrast ratio or HDR support? Thanks for the help!

Hi all, Planning to get back into simming after a 10+ year hiatus. I’m thinking about a large format 40-55” TV with a trackIR. Screen tearing will probably drive me nuts. I don’t see much point in trying to get above 60fps in either 1440 or 4K, but it seems like a VRR (g sync?) option makes sense. 1) can you lock nvidia drivers to a certain goal FPS? 2) do nvidia 20x0 cards support hdmi 2.1 forum VRR? Or just g sync? Or so something in between. What about the upcoming 30x0 series? 3) can anyone point me to a sub $1k VA TV 43-55 in that would be appropriate for MSFS? I was looking at this TCL 6 series. Looks like it has hdmi 2.1 but I can’…

  6. So now trying to run my system on 2560 x 1440 or 3840 X 2160 and I have found adjustments to settings that work to resolve most issues with fonts/scaling. But Chrome is giving me fits. Many many of you have made this transition long ago, and Chrome is likely the browser of choice. How in the devil can I change/control the text size in the Chrome Toolbar and Bookmarks bar? See the tiny text in the Chrome Bookmarks bar in the image I have posted below. I have asked about this on other support web sites and the answers are all over the place and not specifically about the issue I am finding with Chrome. Now. I am not asking how to control the sizes in an HTML page (C…

  7. Hi, maybe somebody could give me some advice here. I upgraded for new PC, Intel i9 and 2080ti. And I was looking for a monitor. I finally chose the 4K Acer Predator XB273GKB, it took me weeks of research. Well, the resolution and color is beautiful, but the backlight bleeding is just awful. I will return the monitor tomorrow. Why did I choose the monitor? Actually I wanted to get something bigger then 27 inch, but Gsync and IPS 4K with 144Hz and 3840x2160 was my final choice. Now I’m not too sure anymore, especially because of them backlight bleeding. I did some research and found that most of the monitors with IPS have these problems. Most of my flying on vatsi…

  10. It's 4k video-card time comparing the RTX280Ti (11Gb) vs RTX2080 Super (8Gb) does the much cheaper 2080 Super work well with Prepar3d v4.5 and MSFS2020 in this resolution. Unfortunately, I will not/cannot pay $1,100 US for a video card to use my current 4k monitor and it will not look right at 1440P/1080P resolutions. Btw, the new system consists of a AMD 3900X processor, 32Gb of DDR4 3600 Ram...etc. Also, any comments on the RT5700XT at 1440P for my brothers current system for MSFS2020? Thanks for any help, Darryl

Hi, do you think it's a bad idea to buy a new gpu right know? There are rumors, that the new gpus will be much better and have better prices. However, I am gonna buy a complete new system for msfs. I was aiming for the GTX 2070 Super Gaming X Trio. My plan is, buying this one using it for ~6 months or so and resell it. Do you think I would loose much money?

Hi Folks. I am looking to purchase a new monitor for FS2020. My current monitor is a 34" flat screen LG 34 UM68-P. This has served me well for both FSX and Xplane11. However, I see that FS2020 is produced in 4k. Does this mean that we should be looking for 4k monitors? I really do not want to go down to 27" but I am finding that there is not a lot of choice for full 3840x2160 IPS, G-sync, DP etc. I don't mind a 32" screen and fancied the idea of perhaps a curved screen. However, a friend has told me that curved screens are usually only 2.7k. This is a surprise to me and I am unsure how that should be and what it means. There are lots of 1440 monitors but again, I am …

  15. Hello, As many of you, I’ve just made the upgrade of my PC, mainly for incoming Microsoft Flight Simulator release. My current specs are: CPU: Intel i7 10700K Motherboard: Gigabyte Z490 AORUS ELITE AC RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws V 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4-3600 CL16 GPU: EVGA GeForce 1080 Ti Monitor: Philips BDM4065UC 40 inch 4k monitor I am wondering about the overall performance I can get in this setup. I know that 4K monitor significantly decreases performance (despite I have 1080 Ti). However flying on 40 inch monitor is great experience. I am thinking, which route should I go to gain extra performance, I have 3 options: 1. …

I am using a 34 inch ultrawide for p3d v4.5 on a evga 1070ti and i7 7700k and its fine but i want a bigger display for more immersion and FOV. Would my 1070ti be ok with a 4ktv at around 55-65 inch or would i need a 1080ti. Any recommendations on TV size and make and would there be a performance hit. I understand there’s no G-Sync for one thing, but that aside, what would the negatives be about using this kind of 4K TV for P3D or MSFS? Way less expensive than a comparable 43” HDR capable computer monitor. https://www.bestbuy.com/site/vizio-43-v-series-4k-ultra-hd-tv-smart-led-with-hdr/6411694.p?skuId=6411694

Good day all. Trying to figure out what is the best or correct screen resolution I should set in P3D (v5) in my case. I have 3 monitors in surround mode. Screen resolution in Nvidia control panel is 5920x1080. Resolution in P3D is the same. Are these two resolution settings should match? I changed resolution in P3D to a lower value but I did not see any visual or performance differences. Thanks for looking.

Hi. Actually I use 3 screens for main view. I use 3 outputs of my graphic card. The forth one is for a matrox card (3 screens for instruments) I use too a external graphic card for touch screen for mcp. For the new ms2020 I will need one output more, so that I bought cdu opencockpits. I thought I need 2 graphic cards. But the price of a new pc is a problem. I guess I can have 700 euros for one graphic card or for two graphic cards (350 each one) What do you recommend to me? Obviously 32 gb RAM, i9 processor, etc... I can spend till 2000 euros in a new pc. REGARDS.

I'm going to need a new video card, mine is at the minimum's to run FS 2020. I know nothing about them and kinda on a budget. Which of these 2 cards do you think would be the best for me, the XFX - THICC II Pro AMD Radeon RX 5500 XT 8GB GDDR6 PCI Express 4.0 or the MSI - GAMING X NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER 6GB GDDR6 PCI Express 3.0. There about the same price at Best Buy and I know nothing about video cards. Thanks for any help! John Snyder Jr

  24. I've been using P3D v4.x and upgraded my system about 18 months ago, including a 32" 4K G-Sync monitor. The mistake I made at the time (and there were fewer of them at a reasonable price) was that the monitor is not HDR compatible and has HDMI 1.4 and DisplayPort 1.2 ports. Looking back, I wish I had been more aware of the limits of the HDMI 1.4 ports and that having an HDR compatible monitor would be a good thing, but there wasn't a compelling reason at the time. With the new version of MSFS and with P3D v5 now out, is it worth sinking more money into an HDR capable monitor with HDMI 2.x ports? Is the benefit worth the expense?
