  2. Guys I need advice! Current set up is a 1070 / 4790k (slight overclock 4.2 / 32gb ram on a 27in 1080p monitor. I'm looking to purchase the new RX6800 on release and upgrade my monitor to a 31in 1440p. What I need advice on is will my CPU bottleneck me to such a degree that its not worth it? If it does, can anyone suggest a good cheaper alternative to the 4790K??

  3. Hey all, After playing the chase-the-3080 game for the past few months, I finally caved and bought a 3090 instead as I was lucky enough to find one in stock. This is replacing a GTX980 in a fairly old i7-5960X system, and I was hoping the upgrade would tide me over until I'm ready to upgrade the rest of my system next year. In short, I would say it accomplishes the task, although I am a bit more CPU bound than I expected to be. The 3090 basically gives me the same Flight Simulator performance at 3440x1440 that the 980 gave me at 1080p, so it solved the problem of being able to make use of my newer ultrawide monitor. Below are some screenshots of the Chicago area…

New updates are spreading on a possible 3080ti to offset the AMD release. Almost as powerful as the 3090 but only 12gb of memory. From the tech sites there thinking an announcement around the 6900 release. This should be interesting. Competition is a good thing. https://videocardz.com/newz/nvidia-preparing-geforce-rtx-3080-ti-with-9984-cuda-cores

  6. I'm on the fence about upgrading my 9900k/2080S to a 10900k/3080. I fly in 1080, 100 render scale with most sliders on high/ultra. If I move to a 3080 will I see a big increase in FPS? Can I increase my render scale and get fluid FPS?

  7. Hello everyone, I already read a lot that forum part and I know that there is no "good" answer to that question. That is why I am trying to find the monitor that will fit my needs and I would really appreciate some recommandation. And here they are: - UWQHD => 3440*1440p - No more than 100Hz since I am not a hardcore gamer (I mean else than flight simulation) and that I doubt my PC being able to go above 60fps even with the new GPUs... - FreeSync - At around 500€/500$ I am quite unsure about the importance of the response time for flight simulation. I already identified some monitors and if you have any experience of them I wo…

  9. No issues with the former 2080 Ti. But with my new 3090 one screen goes to black when Applying NVsurround. Both displays (4K) are set to the same resolution. Tried again with the 2080 Ti : perfect NVsurround. Anyone experienced this with the 3090 ?

  10. I have a RTX2080Ti with a 4K monitor. I’ve got the latest drivers and have graphics settings in the sim set to essentially the “high” settings. FPS are usually fine. What I’m confused about are what settings need to be set in the nVidia control panel. Some app specific settings for FS2020 show using the global setting, some show to let the app control, and some are turned off. My question is what settings should be turned on globally vs set to use the app settings. And which should just be turned off. I haven’t set any of them manually, so not sure if nVidia set them to their view of optimal. Any help or insights or best practices would be appreciated.

  11. In using RTSS to limit frames to 30 however when I do this the 'main thread', be it in P3D or MSFS always sits close to maxed out, whereas w/ vsync to 30Hz screen I don't see this at all, except when there is extreme demand on the main thread, so as it should be. Any way to setup RTSS so this does not happen, so that the main thread is only tasked w/ what is need to maintain the 30fps, as it appears to be when we vsync to a 30Hz screen?

Has anyone got a 27" + 49" + 27" monitor setup? I'm thinking of trying this. The resolution would be 1080 high. Any issues? A big frame rate reduction?

  13. If you were expecting to get either of those cards, you might be in for a nasty surprise. According to two independent sources, as posted by a site that filters the rumours well, the cards were cancelled due to GPU supply and GDDR6X yield issues. The RTX 3070 Ti was also recently reported to be cancelled or postponed due to poor process yields. The article is here: https://videocardz.com/newz/nvidia-allegedly-cancels-geforce-rtx-3080-20gb-and-rtx-3070-16gb Other cards you can expect by NVIDIA in the future: RTX 3060 Ti, 8GB, cut-down GA104 RTX 3080 Ti, 12GB, cut-down GA102 RTX 3070 Super, GA103

Hi - I have a 32" curved monitor I've been using for legacy FSX and Xplane and works just fine for me. With the new MS Flight Sim 2020 I'm thinking about adding another monitor to give me a larger view out the window. Eventually i'll add a third monitor but don't feel like dropping another $200 right now. Are curved monitors good for putting together or should i be using flat or another type of monitor if i'm looking to create a 3 screen setup? Any reason i shouldn't / can't do a 2 screen setup or do i need to just bite the bullet and do 3 screens? Hi, I have an OLED TV plugged into my RTX2080Ti and just plugged in a second monitor (a very basic 24' 1920x1080) fir Navigraph and other stuff.... Initially I plugged the second monitor to my Nvidia RTX but then realized that my Intel i7 9700K had an integrated GPU So I plugged the second screen to the motherboard. Was it the right thing to do in order to avoid putting more strain on my RTX ?... and/or are there any drawbacks on using the Intel GPU together with the Nvidia one ? Thank you, Greg

Hello, Been out of the game for too many years , and to cut the story short I'm upgrading my PC to 2015, because I'm not doing a modern instal until well into next year (new house etc), so I've been given permission to do a bit of spending. I've gotten my hands on an i7 4770k which I'll overclock a bit, but I've trawled the web for GPU recommendations. I've been on bottleneck websites but I don't really know their validity or if they're just a marketing tool. The consensus is that getting something like a 1060/1080 or better is a waste of time, and that I'm better with a lower end card with suggestions anywhere from a 780GTX -980GTX. Any ideas of what is THE card for…

Anyone got an idea of what amount of VRAM would be sufficient for MSFS 2020? I did a flight around Paris, which completely consumed the 8GB of my gtx 1070 and also seemed to completely wreck smoothness, with fps diving into the low 20's at times. I am using a single 2560 x 1440 res monitor. Flying over the Los Angeles area uses about 7.3GB while holding a solid and decently smooth 30 fps, at which it's externally locked using the Nvidia Profile Inspector. Looking to get a gtx 3080, but now I'm thinking that its 10GB may be not enough in the long run. I might wait it out to see if the rumored 16 or 20 GB version of it gets released.

I was looking at an LG 38 inch (LG 38GL950G) to replace my 10 year old LG E2750, but the one I want is not likely to arrive in time before I move countries. I would like advice on a good 34 inch monitor instead as those are readily available. I will use it for Simming, and for some gaming (nowhere near pro status lol). Does anyone here have an overclocked OEM GTX 745 4gb? I dont have much experience with overclocking so i apologize if I say something that makes no sense or sound like I have no idea what I'm talking about (which is true, I don't). Is there a recommended overclock that can be installed? I'm not really interested in tweaking anything, and I definitely don't want to do anything to risk permenately damaging it, but if there is a known safe "preset" or something to get a few extra fps in p3d 4 then I'd be interested. Just looking to see if others have experience overclocking this card. Thanks for any input.

I have been using a second hand Gigabyte gaming OC1080ti for a few weeks running P3Dv5. It was working well until lately. Now occasionally , the sim crashes, ceasing up with coloured squares on the screen requiring a PC reboot. Other times it will work perfectly for hours. The card is fitted firmly and the stats all look good. I am using the DP with my monitor. Is it the obvious, the card is not long for this world. Thankyou for any input.
