Hello guys, does it make sense to switch to a new 32" WQHD Monitor (2550x1440) 144hz ? Acutally I have an 27" Samsung FHD 1080p Monitor with 60hz. Is my GTX 1070 able to handle the new monitor with more FPS? Now P3D v5 peforms on medium - high settings with 30 FPS limit ingame. My CPU is an I7-7700k. Thanks.

  2. Dear Members, since i bought a new p3dV4 rig and monitor, i struggle with some settings. At dawn/ tusk, it seems like banding in the sky and cloud textures occures /increases. The problem is only with p3dv4.1 other games or content looks stunning. Now looking at colorgradients in the sky looks awful it seems like the outside textures reduces to a few shades of grey when it gets dark I tried everything from switching between RGB to 4:4:4 to 4:4:2 8bpc 10bpc 12bpc Full and Limited. I can´t find a combination that looks like it looked in fsx on my old system. The VC is fine and i didn´t notice problems on the ground. System is: i7 8700k …

  4. Updating my motherboard bios right now, then the GPU bios. Probably have to run the GPU bios update twice, once for each GPU bios mode switch (had to do that last time too). Not expecting any noticeable gains. https://rog.asus.com/us/graphics-cards/graphics-cards/rog-strix/rog-strix-rtx3090-o24g-gaming-model/

I have Nvidia RTX 2080 Ti Asus Turbo GPU. I suspect it's running a bit hot because of the dust. The problem is that it has the plastic cover all around, only one fan is visible and cleaning just the blades of this one fan probably won't do much. Is there a safe way to clean it somehow? Can I use compressed air? Where should I blow it in to be safe I won't damage anything? I watched a few Youtube videos but there they are all taking it fully apart, all the way down to the processor, cleaning the paste and all. I'm not doing that. I'm way to inexperienced in this and the card was way to expensive. Did anybody clean the GPU? What's the best way? This is how the GPU look…

  6. Good afternoon everyone. I'm looking for a 1920 x 1080 external monitor for my laptop (which only has HDMI out) that can run at 30 Hz, and that has integrated speakers (desirable). I'm looking for something between 22" and 26". The monitor will be at an arm's length, so I'm not looking for something bigger; just something better than my 15.6" laptop display. I've seen several topics asking for this, but almost all of them drifted into 4K options, which my current GPU can't handle (except maybe in FS9). Also, when I search for the manuals of the options I see in both MercadoLibre (here in Argentina) or in Amazon/Newegg/BestBuy USA, I can't see any option of going to 1…

On my old computer I used MSI Afterburner to create a curve for fan control on the GPU because, well, once somebody said that's the way to go. Now I have RTX 2080Ti and I just let the fans to be controlled automatically and everything appears to be working ok. That got me thinking, why was I using MSI Afterburner at all? What are the benefits of using such programs to control the fans on the GPU? I mean, if the temps raise high enough the fans are going to work at 100% by themselves and if there's no load you won't even hear them... so, what's the point, really?

Hi all, I am considering getting an LG GX 55 Inch TV for my system, I will mainly be running MSFS. I have a 2080 card on my system and was keen to get a G-Sync compatible display. Has anybody here ran such a setup and is it worth it? I have heard that using any G-Sync compatible display will improve performance on MSFS, is this true? Looking forward to hearing your advice. Cheers!

  9. "Graphics card-maker Nvidia says it will deliberately reduce the efficiency of its latest card by 50% when it is used to mine the crypto-currency Ethereum. Crypto-currency enthusiasts have contributed to a shortage of graphics cards by snapping up supplies to use for non-gaming purposes. Nvidia said it had intervened to make sure its products "end up in the hands of gamers". But it will also sell a bespoke crypto-currency mining processor." https://www.bbc.com/news/technology-56114508

  10. It's on sale for 280 euros on Amazon Spain and the reviews seem to suggest it's pretty decent but only 60hz which shouldn't be a problem for FS. Thanks guys!

  11. When/if I can find one, I'm in a quandary over these two cards. The biggest advantage from what I can see to the 6800XT is the extra 6 GB of VRAM. The other features such as better ray tracing and DLSS would favor nVidia. I'm getting a new PC with either a 5900XT or an 11900K. I use it for both play and work. I've vacillated back and forth between the two cards and wonder what others might think?

Hello, I currently run a 32" 2k monitor and am considering an upgrade to a 4k tv. I primarily use my it for gaming/leisure, not work or anything remotely productive 🙂 I do a lot of flight simming (obviously) but also driving/racing sims, train sims, and some other games occasionally. If I can ever get my hands on a PS5 I may buy one of those for sports games etc that aren't available on PC so having a monitor dedicated to gaming means I can play whatever without battling the family for TV time. I came across a PC Gamer article that listed this monitor (48") as it's top pick for PC gaming: https://www.amazon.ca/LG-OLED48CX-UHD-Smart-OLED/dp/B083XNJWNJ/…

https://www.techradar.com/uk/news/nvidia-might-beat-amd-in-gpu-stock-thanks-to-new-samsung-deal Nvidia has just signed a new manufacturing deal with Samsung for 8nm processors that power their RTX 30-series GPUs, raising the possibility of some relief for some of the supply issues that consumers have faced since the launch of the RTX 3070, RTX 3080, and RTX 3090.

Hi all, I am planning on replacing my current 27" samsung monitor(old) 1080p with a newer one. However i am not sure about the size, either 27 or 32" no space left for anything larger on my desk. The one that I am interested is this one https://www.samsung.com/ca/monitors/gaming/gaming-monitor-with-1000r-curved-screen-27-inch-lc27g75tqsnxza/ They come in either 27" or 32" and are 240MZ refresh rate and are both 2540x1440p. They are not cheap but on sale right now, I have had good luck with Samsung. I use the monitor for FS only, no other games. I know there are many other factors to consider. Thanks

I hope one of you, hardware/software geeks can identify what my problem is and be so kind to tell me. I not always just fly P3D on my computer. Actually, for 90% of time it is my working horse. One of the main things I do is editing films in Adobe Premiere Pro. Not long ago (maybe around two months time) I noticed some evident problems. My video footage edited in Premiere started being really laggy. I’ve been editing on this computer since 2017 and everything was fine. I haven’t changed the cameras or footage parametres. And suddenly it felt like a housefly sunk in honey. The first thing I checked was the renderer’s settings in Premiere. In order to have fluent …

  20. I am aware all 3090's vent their prodigious heat into the case instead of out the back door, which is really an unfortunate design, but it is what it is, and if I can pick up one I likely will. For air-cooled CPUs only, how much did your CPU temps increase post install? Thanks

Hi Guys, I currently have a 49 inch 4 k LG television I use for my monitor. It does give me the option to run in 4096 x 2048 resolution which is awesome. I would like to go bigger (Minimum 55 inch)...can anybody reccomend a TV and confirm it gives you the option of 4096 x 2048 resolution via the Nvidia contol panel? Thank you Dave

  22. 4 days ago I got a notice from EVGA that I could purchase one of their RTX 3090 FTW3 Ultra cards. I had pretty much given up on availability until next spring. I jumped on it and even paid premium postage to get it the next day. I installed it with little trouble beyond redoing the 3 power cables from the PSU to the card. Good opportunity to give the case a good cleaning. Installed the latest driver and proceeded to try everything out. Over all, pretty impressive, as it should be for $1750. Not surprisingly, MSFS 2020 was not much different from my 1080ti SC, but I wasn't expecting it to be. Anyway, on to my point: So, 2 days in (yesterday, Dec. 24th). I'm …

  23. I have actually been running a relatively old Nvidia driver set (445.87) since that happened to be the latest driver out when I was setting up my machine. I haven't had any problems with this driver set which I have used when running FSX and three other games on my RTX2060 Super. This week, however, out of curiosity (but also because there is a game coming out down the track which will likely require me to update my drivers) I decided to try the latest version (461.72). I did a clean install and set all the parameters and settings up precisely the same as I had done for the older drivers. But I have found this latest driver introduces a micro-stutter in all four of m…

  25. Is is correct to say textures used in P3D & MSFS generally exceed a 4K screen's native resolution? Put another way, if I take a low resolution texture and display it on a 4K screen, it's still going to display as a low resolution texture, and the fact it's displayed at 4K doesn't improve this per se. I ask to help decide if the GPU performance penalty incurred at 4K over 1440p is worth the higher screen resolution.
