When Covid hit I got out my old FS9 and started to fly with it. I never did much with it back in 2004 when it came out. I installed it on an old Vista Dell and hooked the HDMI cable up to an older LG 55inch HDTV as my monitor. I really like the larger picture but it was not the clearest such as viewing Directv on it but then I had an old dell and simple graphics card and an old software FS9 playing on it. My question is with the FS2020 and a new dell and the video card for flight sim will it be a great picture on a 55 inch HDTV or not. DO I have to use a 24 inch monitor which seems too small for viewing for a great picture??? Any help in this area would be greatly appre…

Hi everyone. I have a killer pc, honeycomb components, and a great but 27” flat monitor. I’m looking to top things off with a good wide monitor with g-sync. I have plenty of room and with reason money is not an issue. Looking for suggestions. Don’t want multiple monitors, want a high quality ultra wide. Suggestions? Who is using ultrawides?

Hi, I would like to replace my old Prolite B2480HSU for a better/larger one. I see monitors for gaming, but I am not shure if these are perhaps somewhat 'overdone' for MSFS and/or X-plane. What (minimum) specs should I look at? I have nVidia RTX3060 card. Will 60hz be ok? I have it now and think it is good enough for simming right? Is HDR important? Freesync? Any help plz

  7. The Oculus Quest 2 is essentially a 38" 3440x1440 120hz IPS monitor - but one that is strapped to your face and provides the illusion of depth and a 360 degree field of view. And it costs $299. If you've got some spare $$$ and you haven't tried VR - I'd highly recommend giving the Oculus 2 a whirl before upgrading your monitor, especially if Flight Sims are your primary activity. I find I spend more time in VR than using my 34" 21:9 monitor with MSFS (though not 100% of the time - it's hard to drink coffee with the headset on) - and the experience of depth and head tracking adds a level of immersion that you just have to see for yourself. A good quality …

Hi, I am currently running MSFS on an LG UltraGear 27GL850 monitor at 2560x1440 with an 8gb RX 5700XT GPU and get a good FPS but i want a 2nd monitor. Not to drag parts/panels from MSFS onto that 2nd screen but more for things like Navigraph, and just desktop stuff like browsing, documents etc.while I run MSFS on the other monitor. I would love to use the same monitor I already have since that looks nice but I wonder if it will really impact my performance when I want to use it the way I describe here. Anyone have thoughts on using two large monitors like this with MSFS? thanks!

So I just spent the last hour trying to fix what I thought may have been a bricked GPU ... Back story I went to update my graphics drivers with a clean install like I always do when suddenly my screen goes black and stays that way through multiple reboots. Thankfully I'm on my laptop so I switched to the integrated GPU and got into windows (they do come in handy). I preformed another clean install in GeForce experience no luck still a black screen on boot into windows.... Finally I downloaded DDU and used it for a clean install and installed older drivers for my 3080 and its back to working correctly.. Something isnt right with the new driver.

I need some advice on monitors/TV for my flight sim, P3d Ver 4.5...I need to replace my old monitor (Is smoke coming out the back bad?) I would really like a larger screen size and am torn between a 32" monitor and a 40" TV...Just wondering what the resolution would look like...I know a lot of folks use huge screens but I can't afford that and wouldn't have anywhere to put it anyway...Any advice or suggestions would be really appreciated! Thanks a lot!

  11. Yes it's an expensive monitor & some would argue an OLED TV would have been a better choice, but I'm loving the 21:9 aspect ratio & since I use the monitor for work also, it's such a great option, I had the 34 inch little brother for a few months & let me say that the extra 3.5 inches make a world of difference! My next panel will be an OLED 38 inch curved ultrawide, hoping the technology comes out in the next couple years. So if anyone is looking at a similar option for MSFS, my stamp comes as highly recommended.

I'm wrestling with the choices for a new monitor, including the panel techology around OLED, VA and IPS. I like both day and night flighing (the latter ideally in a dark room). The other day I dragged the PC downstairs to try out on my LG OLED in the living room, and the quality of display in both day and night scenarios was just fantastic. However I normally sit at a desk for MSFS in a smaller room, and even a 48" OLED would be way too big at less than 2ft away from me. Smaller OLEDS are comming like 42", but my ideal OLED monitor say a 35" ultrawide is just not out there and may not be any time soon. So that brings me to IPS v. VA. I use IPS daily for work, and…

I am currently building a new system (with a.o. a Ryzen 5 5600X and a RTX 3060 Ti) mainly for MSFS and I also want to get a new 27" monitor (going from 1080p to 1400p). I am wondering if it is worth the extra money to get an official G-Sync monitor... I read things about G-Sync Ultimate, regular G-Sync and G-Sync compatible. The ultimate monitors are too expensive for me (most are 4k anyway) so I am currently looking at the ViewSonic Elite XG270QG which afaik is an official G-Sync monitor. Will G-Sync work well with MSFS? It's the only game I'd actually need G-Sync for... I do want an official G-Sync monitor because it will work right away from as low as 1 fps (if I …

I currently have an older 32” BenQ IPS 4K 60hz that I use with my new rig (3080) that seems to work pretty well. My work might offer me a new monitor to use at home, so I was thinking about new options. Ideally, I’d get a 32”+ 4K with true g-sync, but those are quite expensive. Looking at some options, I could potentially do: 1. 34-5” curved 2K VA or IPS, 1ms, 100hz -180hz, g-sync or FreeSync 2. 32” flat 4K VA or IPS, 60hz, 4-5ms, FreeSync 3. 34” flat 2K VA or IPS, 75hz, 4-5ms, FreeSync 4. 32” flat 2K IPS, 175hz, 1ms, g-sync Which would you rather get, and what do you think would be an “upgrade” over my current specs? I don’t have a…

  19. Hi all - A strange issue just cropped up tonight and I am at a loss. I tried starting MSFS and it took 20 minutes to load which was unusual and then once on the home screen it was so laggy I couldn't even get into the main menus. My steam FPS counter was showing 3 fps! Even when you get the very first screen with the Asobo logo the FPS is only 4 and the animation is stuttery. This is with SU6 but I was able to open it a few times yesterday with no issues. I also had an empty Community folder. I did all the usual restarts, driver reinstall, etc. I even ran a test on my GPU (1080ti) with FurMark to make sure it was working and it was running fine. The odd thing is t…

Hello - I currently have a GTX 1080 founders edition (that wont overclock). Because of the limitations of the bios on my Alienware Aurora R3, I can only upgrade to a 1080ti for a new card. I understand the newer cards required something difference to boot and legacy mode in no longer available. Would it be worth getting the 1080ti or the 1080 and see some performance improvements for FS2020. I am especially interested in getting a bit better erformance in VR. Thanks in advance. Daniel

Hello, I have a two year old RTX 2080TI from Zotac. I have never overclocked it. For the last two weeks I've been experiencing system failures without any warning. It usually happens when I'm gaming but not necessarily under the most demanding situations (happened twice on the world map while planning a flight in MSFS2020). The screen goes black, the fans on my case spool up and after a few seconds I get a "no signal" message on my monitor. It stays like that until I do a system reset. Sometimes I manage to do hour long flights or play other games for hours without any issues. I don't think it's heat related because even under stress the graphics card …

So, to those of you who have one, what settings would I look at (LG, and Nvidia ?) to get the best performance?. 9900K, 2080TI, 32gb ram, and currently on HDMI 4 on the TV. Also, anyone notice edges curved away from where you sit, or is it something with the settings, or my eyes? Currently running at 4096 x 2160 with size of text at 175%. Recommended is 3840 x 2160, but at that setting the sides are "blacked out". Should I try the insane search for a 3080ti, or better yet 3090, or 3090ti when it comes out? I figured I will start a new build with the 4090, and 12900k? when they come out. Thanks for any insight, and oh yes anyone kn…

So I'm looking to upgrade my system,as of now I have an 8700K and a Zotac Amp Extreme 1080 and on ultra settings they give me a respectable 30+fps at FSDT's KORD in the 787 so I'm not in a crazy hurry. Most of the time its showing Im GPU limited and occasionally Main Thread limited (getting a 12900k or 11900k soon) I have no plans to go to 4k as honestly I can't really tell the difference. I'm considering the 6900XT for several reasons one it shows better FPS in 1440P than the 3090 does and well lets be honest its cheaper and available. Whats everyone heres thoughts on AMD cards. Been many years since I used one
