Hi readers, I’m after some current (2021) advice please on getting a new monitor. I am currently using a SONY TV 40” however I can’t read any gauges or fmc text without zooming in a lot. I am going to buy a new screen. It will be the main P3Dv4 screen. There seems to be a suggestion that 16;9 is the way to go. There is a 49” curved but it is wide and low. Any suggestions/comments would help.

I need to get a 2nd monitor for work purposes and so I am going to get a new one for my flying pc and move my current monitor to my work laptop I was looking at a Gsync monitor as I have stutters and understand it can help with that. I have an I5 cpu overclocked to 4.2 with a 1060Ti card. Performance is ok at 1080 FPS wise - but it has decreased stutter wise as more updates came out (it used to be much smoother) I am getting a new monitor either way but I am wondering if its worth spending too much on Gsync if its not really going to help with stutters. Any advice would be appreciated...thanks

Since November 2020 I have been in contact with NV Support to get NVSURROUND working with a 30 series graphics card and 2-3 4K displays. Today I got an email dat it should be working. Tested it and with Hotfix 462.81 and upwards it is now working. Happy flying ! ✈️

I've recently got a new computer with Windows 10 Pro. It has the Windows Nvidia driver version 26.21.14.3200, which is 432.00. I think this is the Windows version and is not the Nvidia version, and you won't find that version on their website. But I wanted to be sure about something before installing the latest version from Nvidia. In Device Manager, it shows my display device, or adapter, which is the Nvidia GeForce GTX-960. My question is do I need to uninstall this driver before installing the Nvidia driver? It does not show any Nvidia drivers in the Apps and Features but I wondered if I still need to uninstall this Windows version from the Device Manager first. I…

Hi all, I installed a new card, a GTX 1070ti with 3 x 22 '' monitors. As soon as I activate the surround mode of the card, when I want to go to the menus, for example OPTIONS / SETTINGS / Display, FSX crashes. The total resolution is 5040x1050 without bezel correction. I had a GTX 660ti and had experienced this problem before but can't remember how I fixed it. I have tried different Nvidia drivers but with no success. thank you for helping me Christian FSX with sp2 Windows 10 with all updates

I am a little confused as to why I received this warning recently. I did originally post about a new monitor in the monitor section and then decided that perhaps it should have been in the P3d forum as i was requesting help on G sync and using it in p3d. It seems that second post was transferred to monitors by admin and hence I had a double post which was never my intention. I apologise to Ray Proudfoot for any misunderstanding on this matter. I do hope someone is able to help me with my original request. Kind Regards David Spackman

ok wow. just got the new 49" Monoprice (Samsung panel) monitor setup with old system and card (1060 6GB) and it looks incredible. First time with MSFS actually felt like being in a/the cockpit of a plane. So immersive. FPS and stutters need work but blaming that on the older system/card. Can not believe how cool it is to actually feel like flying a plane as opposed to looking at the game on a monitor...

While I was building my new computer and due to monitor shortage, a little bit like graphic cards (by the way, not anymore but they are still expensive...) I had time to think and to find some more euros to buy a better monitor... Prices will go down in 3 days in one website I usually buy components. Here is the list: - Dell Alienware 34'' 2K+ Curved 1-120 Hz G-Sync https://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/new-alienware-34-curved-gaming-monitor-aw3420dw/apd/210-atzq/monitors-monitor-accessories - Dell Alienware 27'' 2K 1-240 Hz G-Sync HDR https://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/alienware-27-gaming-monitor-aw2721d/apd/210-axsw/monitors-monitor-accessories - Ac…

I've looked over various threads dealing with banding and did not find a solution. I have a 4K monitor in its native resolution and a matched setting in prepar3d. I get really bad banding, especially noticeable at night. It may be envtex installed but can't narrow it down. https://ibb.co/Z6c48Mf

Hi After thinking, seeing reviews and prices going up or down, I think I will go to a curved monitor, probably the Allienware AW3420DW. Well, I do not have so much options for a G-Sync monitor. But I saw that it only supports DP 1.2 and HDMI 1.4, and for getting 3440x1440 I would need to connect it via HDMI port. 1. Is this a good one? 2. What would be the VRR with DP or HDMI in order to get the full profit of it which means a resolution of 3440x1440? 3. Can I see TV on this monitor as well?

Hi, After three months of threads it is being difficult to choose a monitor for FS, also because a lot of the recommended ones cannot be found anywhere. I thought that I could buy a 3440x1440 which is 21:9 and transform it in a 2560x1440 which is 16:9 with a right or left black screen. In the black screen zone I could do other tasks while flying or take the FMC or the throttle quadrant out of the "main" zone. Is this possible?

Hi all. I'm on the point of getting a GTX1660ti to replace a 1050ti. The 1050ti draws power directly from the PC-express slot but I understand the 1660 needs its own power connection, I think via 8 pin plug/socket. My PSU has 2 'spare' 6 pin connectors. Am I looking at upgrading my PSU, or is there some piece of adapting kit I can get?

I still didn't understand what is the difference between refresh rate of 60Hz and 1-60 Hz in terms of flight simulator. I found this monitor https://www.amazon.co.uk/MSI-Prestige-PS341WU-Creator-5120x2610/dp/B07YCWMSBF. It is written 60 Hz, but in another website they say 60-165Hz. It is really confused when we have different information for the same product... When we talk about 60Hz, should we always understand 1-60Hz? By the way, is this a good one for FS?

I know AMD drivers are a headache, but unfortunately when I bought my PC I wasn't aware of that. Anyway, does anyone have a reliable driver for this card. I am running MSFS 2020, but every so often I get one of those Driver Timeout crashes. Right now I am running 2020 20-11-2

I am currently running MSFS on a 27" screen at 2560 x 1440 with a very satisfactory performance in MSFS. CPU is AMD 5600x, with 32Gb RAM. What can I expect in performance impact if I would upgrade to 34" ultrawide screen that has resolution of 3400 x 1440? I would prefer not to have to lower further the graphics setting in MSFS. Thank you for any input.

I'm trying to maximize the video quality when using P3DV5. I'm running Windows 10, and using a Samsung UN40H5003 40-Inch 1080p LED TV as the main display, and the GPU is a NVidia GeForce GTX 10. Benchmarking the entire system using Furmark and similar programs places my system in the top .01%, so I'm pretty sure it can handle things. I suspect that it's a matter of the display--as it's a LED TV rather than a gaming monitor--that's limiting the quality. Any suggestions as to how to maximize the video quality for P3DV5? I don't really use this particular system for anything except my flight sim.

Possible release timeframe for GeForce RTX 3070 Ti and 3080 Ti surfaces (guru3d.com) Benchmarks should be around start of June, but I still may give the 3000 Series a miss and get more bang for buck next year 4000 Series.

I have a Gigabyte GTX 1050ti GDDR5 4GB card running FSX-SE alone (air cooled) on a 600W PSU. At the moment I can't afford to upgrade to a 1060 or 1070 and certainly not to Ray Tracing. The ASUS nvidia GeForce GT740 DDR3 2GB card that it replaced sits 'wasting' in its box. Is it feasible to reinstall it in the adjacent free PCI express slot and run them together? Are the 'bridges' I read about physical connections, if so where would it/they come from? If I can do this, am I likely to gain any performance - or isn't it worth the time?
