I've got my annual bonus coming in the next month or two and am thinking about upgrading my graphics card. My system is 2010 vintage: i7-950 overclocked to 4Ghz 12GB RAM (just upgraded from 6GB this month) GTX480 I've got my eye on the GTX780 as the upgrade of choice. My main sims at the moment are FSX and XP10 - with an eye to moving over to P3D2 when it's had time to mature. Would the upgrade to a GTX780 be worthwhile, or are there any other suggested cards? I want to get a decent future proof card that will see me good for the next 2-3 years so I can perhaps upgrade my motherboard/CPU later on in 2014. Thanks.

Hi, Strange one this. My system is new, and high end, i7 quad core, overclocked and running at 4.2 Mhz, 8GB memory. I asked for a GTX Nvidia graphics card too, but I now believe that it has been faulty and that I have been using the onboard graphics card, an Intel 4600 HD, all along. At first I was really angry, I had an earlier issue, I thought I'd killed the motherboard, and I know little about BIOS and CMOS, so although I've tried to get the card to work its no good, I will return it, but I'm not keen to tinker with my system anymore. Last thing I want to do is kill the PC or upset FSX! Thing is, I have all the scenery sliders maxed out and always have. Not the…

Hi all, I am a newbie to this site and need some advice re monitors for FSX. I have been using FSX for about 3 years on a single 17" Samsung. I use FSX primarily as a training aid (I hold a PPL) and the 17" monitor has sufficed for this purpose. I have recently upgraded my hardware and am trying to determine what to do about the monitor to improve the overall immersive experience. One option I am considering is moving to a single ultra wide monitor with an aspect ratio of 21:9 and resolution of 2560 x 1080. Can anyone comment on how the immersive experience might be on this configuration versus the more traditional 2/3 monitor setup? Any feedback great…

Hey, I've been flying with FSX for a couple of months and when I use 'bare' Flight Simulator, without any addons it is ok, but the more payware addons I use, the more stutters and FPS drops I get. I know it is caused by my very average computer which is: CPU: Intel Core i3 530 3,00 GhZ Mainboard: Gigabyte H55-S2H GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GT220 1GB RAM: 4 GB DDR3 Power Supply: Silentium Deus G1 500W Windows 7 64 Bit I know that the weakest component is my video card so I would like to improve it. The options I have considered so far are: GTX 560 1 GB or GTX 650 (or GTX 650Ti) 1GB. Are these card good for my computer? Please take into consideration my average …

Happy new year! As titled, does NVidia video card brand (ie MSi, EVGA etc.) matter when it comes to performance and quality? If they do matter, which aspects do they vary? Why I ask this is because back in the 480/580 days, I've been told by someone that now it doesn't matter as all cards essentially come out of NVidia. The companies buys it out to put their sticker or logo on it, so essentially all cards are nvidia standards. I've never bothered checking it out so never really paid attention to it. Now that I think of it, it's a little skeptical, and since I can't access google (I'm in a non-google friendly country), I'm not able to find anything... So I …

I needed to get rid of some money before the end of the year (in order to pay less taxes in 2015) so one thing I did was buy a GTX780. I decided this was a good moment for it and you can wait forever if you want to get the next best GPU... The GTX780Ti was still too expensive for the little extra performance it gives... Thursday I hopefully will be able to install it into my PC. Looking forward to letting you all know how good (or bad) things are with the GTX780 compared to my current GTX580! Have a look at my new baby here: https://www.asus.com/Graphics_Cards/GTX780DC2OC3GD5/ From what I've read it's an easy to OC GPU so I might even get close to those Ti-spe…

Hey guys. I went from amd to nvidia. My old card was a 6950 2gb. I ran fsx windowd and I could go through fs commander or brows on the internet without issue's. Now due to the 290x only being available with reference cooling. I went to a 780 classified from evga. No when I run fsx windowed on 1 screen. En go to the second screen with my mouse to browse or check something on fs commander. Both screens and also my mouse pointer go into tremendous lag. Is this fixable with a setting in either the fsx.cfg or inspector. Or is this something which is normal with nvidia cards? Kind regards.

I have encountered a problem with FSX which was not happening last week. See screen capture. My system is using an Nvidia GeForce GTX 560Ti card under DX11 and I have not had a problem until yesterday. I installed new scenery Oslo v2 and the FTX Global Base Pack update v1.2. When I attempted to run FSX, I got this message. Can anyone help? I AM NOT running Prepard3. Thanks Dom

Hello, I just upgraded to a GTX770 4GB card. I deleted my FSX.cfg and started fresh. I'm having a problem with screen tearing even though I have V-sync enabled. I've used different setting in Nvidia Inspector and I added the lines to the FSX.cfg to force V-sync in full screen mode. I'm running unlimited FPS in FSX with a limit of 40 in NI. Any help would be appreciated. FWIW, I never had this problem with my previous card. GTX480.

I have a 1 Gig HD5870 on my old 32bit 4 gig RAM/AMD dual-core system running at 3.4 Ghz, and as I fly mainly gliding and VFR over photo-real scenery (GenX) with trees but little other autogen, it does OK at around 30 fps average, but not particularly smoothly. However, I also fly DX10 and I can't seem to get vsync to work, windowed or FS, with the appropriate fsx.cfg entries, and I have tried RadeonPro to no avail - I still see the tearing, and find it more and more tiresome. I can't afford a mobo/cpu/OS/RAM upgrade, but was thinking of going to a HD7850. Then I remembered that I had sworn to go nVidia for my next card to get the benefit of vSync. Would a GT…

Quick question guys, If I were to upgrade to a new GTX 760 superclocked card would my frames increase from the current system: 3rd Generation Intel I7-3770K 3.5 GHZ (Turbo 3.9 GHZ) Liquid Cooled by Corsair H60 (Processor cannot be overclocked due to motherboard) 16GB DDR3 Ram 2 X 1 GB Radeon HD 7750 700 Watt PSU Windows 7 64 Bit WD 1 TB HD My main question, would upgrading to a new GTX 760 Card, would my frames increase at all? unfortunately, I found out that I cannot overclock my processor due to the motherboard :( Will I see any increase in frames at all? Especially in areas like KLAX, KORD, KATL, etc. I am not willing to spend anything more than…

Hi guys, I'm feeling very, very sad and really cannot fathom out my predicament. I have just replaced my GTX580 1.5gb with a GTX770 4gb card and have been really impressed with the increase in performance, especially in clouds, (you were right Ben Cap, I was wrong) Anyway, I did a driver clean sweep after uninstalling the 580 and started with the latest driver for the 770. I also rebuilt a new FSX cfg. Anyway, for some really strange reason I am having terrible memory issues. eg, leaving CYVR + Orbx in the NGX and after about five minutes of blurries, the MB starts it's dinging message which is an indication of OOM. Then the sim starts to stall when loading textures and e…

I thought my video card died today (turned out to be the monitor) so I started looking at replacements. I've had this card for more than three years and it's served me well. I'm going to stick with EVGA because I've had good luck with them. I was looking at this card. EVGA GeForce GTX 770 DUAL SuperClocked 4GB Any opinions on a good replacement would be appreciated. I'd like to keep it at around $400 USD. Thanks

My plan is 2x 23" screens for main view and 2x19" for instruments My doubts: 1- Do I need a SLI or can just buy a mainstream VGA for the 2x19? (Not sure if both can be active at the same time if not in an array) 2- How much would be the performance loss compared with if I had a single screen plugged on the same main VGA? Thanks in advance.
