Last night I updated the firmware on my GTX 460 SE (301.??), and after the update I noticed an option that said Enable 3D. Now, I thought you had to have a 3D monitor to enable 3D (I do not have 3D monitors). So, I went to Nvidia's website and ran the system test to see if I can run 3D and all test pass. NVidia has something that's called 3D Vision discovery glasses, but you cannot buy them by themselves. So, I was wondering has any body tried this with FSX and how does it look. Also, tigerdirect has the 3D wireless kit for around $150, and their called active shutter (which I have no idea what that means), but I search bestbuy and Sharp has some 3D glasses (a…

I'm setting up a family flight sim. I'm new to Flight Sims, other than the old days of WW2 fighters and the microsoft Force feedback pro with a game port. Can I run 3 monitors on the single 2 gig EVGA GeForce GT640 with the following setup?.. ( I would prefer to keep it simple and run this one card... at least to to start) I have no clue if the motherboard ( see bleow ) would support 2 graphics cards or if you can run the internal graphics on the motherboard and an external card and get three independant monitor views. ( or more)? This is all new to me. I know the Computer is not the best but replacing it is really not an option with the cost of the othe…

Just bought a 29" ultra wide monitor (2560x1080) works great on machine #1. Same monitor on a second machine will only display at 1920x1080. If 2560x1080 is selected the writing/lettering is totally illegible. The installed card on the second machine is a NVidia 480 with January's driver. More than adequate for general purpose. Any suggestions as to a remedy would be warmly received.

Hey guys, running FSX Win 7 64 bit fully updated with FSX Accelerated SP2, homebuilt machine. Intel 3770K, ASUS P8Z77-V Board, Corsair 8GB, EVGA 670GTX, running to a triple head 2 go at 1280X1024 (X3). This is a reformat to SSD and new CPU and never had this problem before but it is happening frequently now. I run in VC 24/7 with no cockpiy visible as this is solely for outside view only. When changing positions, or different airports, or sometimes changing the time of day, FSX turns all black and only the AutoGen is visible. In other instances the whole visual is black, just a black screen, I can hear the sounds and also if I press ESC the menu sh…

Just when 4K TV (3840 x 2160) prices are dropping rapidly and will be affordable for the masses next year (2014) ... now it looks like 8K TV/monitors (7680 x 4320) will be coming to a store near you in 2016 - broadcasting in 2020. At 7680 x 4320 with a good dot pitch and 120Hz or better, there will be little or no need for AA any more ... we can finally put AA to rest ... never did like AA as a filter anyway. On the plus side, it looks like 8K will peak and be the norm for many years ... getting close to limits of what the human eye can distinguish. Apparently this has been the goal for most professional level movie cameras. The next few years are going to be gr…

Hi all, I'm close to completing a parts list for a build at the end of this month. The last outstanding item I have is the graphics card, and it's given me a bit of trouble. I was hoping everyone here could give me some recommendations. Here is the current parts list: http://pcpartpicker.com/user/GLaDOS/saved/ Can the EVGA GeForce GTX 780 3GB run 3 monitors? I've read in a few places that for FSX it is better to run on 1 graphics card, but for other game sites, I've heard that running 3 monitors on 1 graphics card will push the graphics card to the limit. I guess I'm just looking for some clarification as I'm a bit confused now and want to make sure what I have w…

Can anyone tell me how to increase the resolution of vc textures. This for both pay ware and stock fsx aircraft My vc textures are just not clear. Certainly not anywhere near as clear as the 2d cockpits for the same aircraft. My graphics cards are 780gtx They are not overcooked, they are stock speed My monitors are 1900x1200 ( this is max on my monitors ) Is there something i can do to "sharpen or clear " the vc panel. Any advice would be very helpful Peter

Hi Today I'm running FSX on I7 2600 processor and Nvidia GTX 460 (1GB) and Samsung S24B300 monitor I use nvidia inspector setting Vsync 1/2 refresh rate. for set limit of 35 FPS, I force screen refresh rate 70Hz using nvidia control panel. today FSX run smootly width no stutters at 35 FPS... now I think about buying new GPS for P3DV2 (I thing on GTX760 or GTX 780 - 2GB) but before buying I want to be sure, I still set 70Hz refresh rate on the same monitor but defferent graphic card. do you know if combination of GTX 780 and S24B300 will still can work with 70Hz refresh rate ? Thanks Tomer

Hi everyone, Big decision time for me. Entire new Haswell system is bought, all but the graphic cards. Quandary for me is fact that I will be running 5 monitors (all same 24"). 3 outside view 2 for panel. The dilemma is whether to go with 2 x 4GB cards, or just 1 of the new GTX 780Ti along with the Triple Head system to support this. Specific card I am considering is the EVGA 03G-P4-2883-KR GeForce GTX 780 Ti. Anyone with any thoughts on this? Have not yet decided on P3Dv2 or FSX. Been over reading Word Not Allowed's reviews, not quite sure about P3Dv2 yet..... Thanks everyone..... JT

Hi guys, i still have some problems with the nVidia Inspector and my 60Hz TFT monitor in FSX: First of all my fsx.cfg is tweaked only a little bit, the only tweaks i use are the [bufferpools] UsePools=0, [JOBSHEDULER] AffinityMask=14, [GRAPHICS] HIGHMEMFIX=1, [Main] DisablePreload=1, FIBER_FRAME_TIME_FRACTION=0 (tested some settings, but 0 runs best). When i am running fsx with NI vsync: force on and lock the fps with internal fsx fps limiter to 60 (TFT monitor refresh rate is 60hz) then of course fsx runs great and really butter smooth, specially when i look around in virtual cockpit or generally much motion is present (curve flight, fly fast up and down, etc…

I am running a GB 660Ti OC with 2GB GDDR5 on a Haswell 4770k at 4.5GHz. Currently getting very good performance in P3DV2. Thinking of either getting a good 3D monitor or possibly going for a triple-monitor setup... Intersted in what kind of FPS loss I may be looking at in both cases ? I am leaning towards a 3D monitor as I think I may get dizzy using a 3-monitor setup. Ideas/suggestions welcome.. Thanks folks.

Ok so on santa's list I'm putting a new graphic card but not sure which one to get the GeForce titan or a GeForce 780ti both are slightly overkill at the moment as I run on a single monitor at 1980-1200 however that may change soon to at least 2 monitors. I also plan to get p3d v2 which I know uses the graphic card more so I'm looking longer term to I have an oc i7 2700k at the moment but the mobo can take a faster cpu so don't need a new computer any thoughts on what card would be better thanks

I'm just about to pull the plug on a GTX770 4gb card and I thought it would be wise to ask a few of you for opinions. Basically there are two cards which just about fall into my budget, that's the Gigabyte and the Zotac. I know there won't be a great deal to choose between them, but has anyone got any opinions? Cheers fellas... BTW, the Gigabyte model has three fans and the Zotac two...

I've got three new lcds that are capable (and set) to 144hz in surround mode.. the asus VG248QE 24" 3D.. Would the best bet here be to set the refresh at 1/4 in the profile and 36 fps in the fsx.cfg?

Dear All, I have a GTX 460 (1GB RAM) and have to upgrade my system to use it with P3D2. If will go for a GTX 770 (4GB) or 780 (whatever Santa can carry). Now I wonder if in P3D 2.1 I can make use of my old GTX 460 in SLI (I know LM will implement it in 2.1): Will there be any benefit or do only two identical cards work together?

With all the talk of OOM's and video ram and etc being discussed, at the same time as many (including me) are thinking of purchasing new graphics cards, I got curious as to just what difference I would see when choosing between a 4 gigabyte card and a 2 Gigabyte card. Instinct says bigger is better, but is it? I found an article that takes a look: Any comments? For me, Since I have no intention of running multi-screen, it seems like a faster 2gb card might be better for my budget and overall, than a slightly slower 4gb card. (My choice right now is between a 4gb Nvidia 760 or a 2gb Nvidia 770) http://www.pugetsystems.com/labs/articles/Video-Card-Performance-2GB-vs-4G…

Hi There I've returned to the simming world after a long time away after the release of Prepar3d v2 has spiked my interest. I saw some nice improvements like for like from FSX to P3D2, so I bought a GTX 770 4GB card. However, as usual I rebuilt the PC after a major upgrade, and now can't activate P3D2 until they get back into the office and reset my activation count :( So I thought I'd give FSX a dust off and see how it performs with the new card Very disappointing! I'm starting to think as well that I'll probably persevere with FSX for a while until more addons support P3D, so I'd really love to know if there's some killer tweaks I'm missing out o…

Hey im new here. I have a Dell Optiplex 760 that I am planning to upgrade on a budget to run FSX. I am looking at upgrading the graphics card, hard drive, and possibly the CPU( I would rather not though). My budget is $350-400. I only plan on running addon aircraft such as Majestic Dash 8 and Carenado C208. I plan on only having minimal scenery addons. The equipment I had in mind is as follows: Video Card: Asus GTX 650 2GB PCI Express Hard Drive: Seagate Barracuda 500 GB 7200RPM Please let me know if this is realistic, compatible, and a practical setup. Thanks.

Hi guys, I have googled, but have not found any comments on a situation like mine. When running FSX, my GPU speed is pegged at 640Mhz and my memory speed is at 810MHz. The base clock for my GTX780 classified is 993MHz for GPU and 3004MHz for memory. Even when I overclock, the speed stays as is and does not increase. Now, when I run MSI Kombustor, it runs at the top speed, with boost. I have not tried running Kombustor when overclocked. Also, when I run 3DMark11 I get decent scores, right where others with my CPU and GPU score. Is this typical? I'm wondering if my GPU usage is too low to drive up the clock speed (it seems to stay in the 10-30% range most o…

Well guys anyone hazard a guess how this would look with FSX and NGX given its resolution of 3840x 2160, would affect the FPS substantially I'd say? Anyway if anyone has any thoughts I'm looking at buying one Many thanks.
