Hello, I currently have a 23" Samsung 1920x1080 LED and was thinking of upgrading to a 27" 1920x1080 monitor. I find that for some games, the small print is getting harder to read as I age. But since I sit around 2-2.5 feet away from the monitor (it's a small desk), I'm thinking that a 27" might be too big. And also about the same number of pixels on a larger screen might be poorer picture quality than my 23". I'm also considering one of those fairly rare Asus 25" LED's for the same price as a Samsung 27" monitor. I'm perplexed whether I should just get the smaller 25" due to sitting so close to the monitor or will I regret not getting the 27" in the long run?…

Hi So I am wanting to connect two monitors with an HDMI. I do not want a mirrored display, I want two monitors, one will have PFPX, EFB etc and one will have FSX...the "second" monitor is actually a laptop that nobody is using so I figure I might as well put it to use. How can I do this? Do I need one of those adaptors? Or something else? Thanks Lee

I'm new to computer building so I come to you all in hopes that I could be steered in the proper direction. Currently I have an i7-3770K at 4.4Ghz, EVGA GTX680 FTW+ 4GB, ASUS Z77-V Deluxe motherboard and a Corsair 750W power supply. I have a 27" iMac as my primary computer that I run a display port to mini display port cable from the GTX680 to the iMac for use as a monitor with the gaming computer and this works out great. Now I would like to move to a triple monitor setup for the wrap around 3D cockpits. I play FSX, DCS and X-Plane 10. The iMac's screen is a glossy backlit LED with 2560x1440 pixels. Am I correct in assuming it would be best to find two other monitors…

Hello! I'm thinking about change my actual GTX480, in cloudy conditions it is very low... I'm thinking about the EVGA GTX770. The 780 is too expensive. The main use will be FSX, I usually don't play other games... Is a good choice? Enviado desde mi iPhone 5 con Tapatalk 2

I am starting to experiment with dual monitors using: - GTX460 - Win 7 - FS9 - main display LCD at 1920x1080 (60Hz) - secondary analog CRT at 1600x1200 (75Hz) I start in 2D cockpit view, create a new front-left view, undock and drag the window to the CRT. As soon as half the window is visible on the CRT, the frame rate drops from 30fps (locked) to exactly 1.0 fps and stays there. I would expect a frame rate hit from having two 3D views to draw but this looks like a setting issue. I have played with the screen resolutions, with no effect. I have no problem if I move instrument panels. I have searched the forums but not found anything like this. Thanks …

  10. I have been using 64X 4v12 anti aliasing mode for quite sometimes, and today I try to tune it up a little to 8x8. Guess what, my FPS drops to 1 in full screen mode, while I normally get 20~30s. Strangely, everything works fine in window mode. Wondering why this happens.

Hello all, I'm planning to build a new computer system this winter and was just looking ahead at parts and prices. I was hoping to run this system on 3 monitors but am having trouble researching which GPU card(s) would best be up to this task. Ideally, I'd like to avoid the "stretching" issue on the two side monitors that I've heard a number of people mention on different forums. The three monitors I've got on my list right now are 27" and 1920 x 1080 display. Would anyone have any recommendations for a GPU to run these three monitors? On a side note - I was looking at GPUs on pcpartpicker.com The GTX 760 4GB card is priced lower than the GTX 670 and 680 4GB c…

Hi, long time lurker, first time poster. I recently upgraded my PC to: Dell Core i7 @3.4 GHz Windows 8 12GB ram GeForce GT 640 1 GB GDDR5 I run it two 27 inch monitors. When I run FSX I usually have the right screen be the main FSX 2D panel, and the left be the GPS, gauges etc. (see attached pic). The problem is, when I can't click on anything on the left hand screen. Its as if everything is shifted right/left. To explain further...if I hover over the zoom out on the GPS or taxi light switch etc, its as if there is nothing there that is clickable. But if I move my mouse 3 inches or so left or right of the button/switch all of a sudden I can do it. I've nev…

I am considering upgrading my GTX460 1GB card to a GTX760 2GB or 4GB card for my PC that is only used for FSX (CPU i7 950 overclocked to 4.0GHZ and 6GB of RAM, Windows 7 64Bit) As I have a 30” Dell monitor at a resolution of 2560 x 1600, I assume a newer/faster video card with more video memory will help. I have ORBX scenery installed, use REX and mainly use GA aircraft only. Apparently some have experienced out of memory errors with 4GB of video memory (as FSX is a 32bit application). Is this a problem? Any advice is really appreciated! Chris

Hi all, I currently have a 6870 and looking to see if it's time to upgrade it to a newer graphics card whether it is AMD or Nvidia. I have seen that the 7950's seem to have good prices in the UK at the moment but I am not sure what the performance is like in FSX compared to other cards on the market. Does anyone have one or know anything about the performance? If not the 7950 then what would you suggest? Any replies are appreciated.

Hi All, There's a lot of talk around regarding new Graphic Cards and their bang for bucks. But if I did decide to splash all out and go for a Titan which one do I choose or does it not really matter. I looked recently for a Titan in my local area and was surprised to see a number of different options. The guy behind the counter was less than helpful and asked which brand do you want...? At the end of the day are all these cards all the same on the inside with simply a different label on the outside? My choices are: 1. eVGA GTX Titan 837M/6008M 6GB GDDR5 2xDVI/HDM 2. Asus GTX TITAN PCI-E 3.0 6GB 384-bit DDR5, Base:837MHz, Boost:876MHz 3. Gigabyte GTX …

  16. I'm planning the components for my next PC which will finally see me move from FS9 to FSX. One of the critical components is the graphics card and as I live in England and do most of my flying in Europe I'm seriously considering the Titan 6Gb card over the GTX780 3Gb purely on the basis it can cope with heavy cloud much better. The other consideration is if I buy the 780 and then find it's disappointing in cloud upgrading to a Titan will be the more expensive route. The price difference from my chosen supplier between a 780 and Titan is around 240UKP (372USD). I'll be running FSX on a single 32" 1920x1080 display. Interested to hear others opinions on this. I …

  18. Greetings all, This weekend I plan on upgrading my display for FSX. I currently use a Acer 23'' monitor, but I'm trying to decide if I should go to 3 monitors, or just one Large 32" (or bigger)? I'm currently running AMD Phenon x4 3.4ghz Nvida 560ti 8gb RAM Toshiba SSD 256gb Drive (FSX) If i go with a larger monitor overall, are there any suggestions? Anything in particular I should avoid? I've heard with multiple monitors the frame rates suffer.... Thanks in advance!

I have used ATI cards for the last 10 years. My HD4850 recently failed. I aquired a Nvidia GT530 as a stopgap untill I can afford a new card. I am looking for a recommendation for my settings. I use FS9 on a Phenom X2 545 chip with 4gigs of ram. I am just looking for a educated starting point. Thanks. Pat

Couple of questions for you guys if you don't mind. So I have a 23" Acer X233H LCD monitor, it's 1080p and was only $125 so that's nice, but FS looks like crap at night with lines showing in the sky, clouds look a little funky, and ground textures are pink and green and strange looking to say the least. During dawn, day, and dusk everything looks great. So anyway I wanted to hook up my 24" Insignia 1080p TV to my computer just to test it out and picture quality wasn't as good as a monitor. Is this the case all the time or is a good quality TV just as good as a monitor? Second, would an LED monitor have better picture quality for FSX, especially at night? La…

Hi all, Let me give you my main specs first: Machine: P4 Core i5 3570k - 3.40GHz (with max turbo frequency up to 3.80GHz) RAM: 8GB DDR3 1600 Hyper Hard Drive: SSD 128GB Graphics Card: nVidia 9800GTX 1GB System: Windows 7 64bit It's not the best system in the world but seems to do the job - i.e. I have lots of scenery add-ons, some payware aircraft and Ultimate Traffic 2. The system runs nicely in the sense that I don't notice stutters too much. If I fly the Feelthere E-jets into Heathrow X for example, it does stutter a little bit but I can live with it. I got the system last year some time and I don't really have the means to upgrade it again, so plea…

Dear All, I'm currently running a w7x64 , i7 3970K (OC to 4.5 Ghz) cooled by a H80 hydro, 16 GB RAM. On the graphic side I have an Asus Geforce 680. I run FSX on a 3 screens (5760x1080 in portrait mode) nvidia surround. My FSX performance is typically 30 (i.e. locked 30) but can go down to 18 - 20 at major airports +PMDG NGX+bad weather+dusk or dawn (AS2012 with 1024 clouds) (standard Word Not Allowed tweaks). I was considering upgrading the card to a titan hoping to get 30 most of the time. Getting ready for the pmdg 777 :-) (supposed to be comparable or better to the NGX fps wise) Any thoughts on that ? Best

Are there any 2D instrument panels out there that fully replicate what the pilot sees from full left to full right? That is, NOT USING POPUPS for individual gauges & controls- but rather a complete full cockpit width panel in 3 segments - each representing 1/3 of the real panel itself.. (Yes, Virtual does this- at the price of having the panel twisting around in sync with the outside world scenery and having to zoom in to read gauges.) What i'm looking for is a 2D panel design for use with perhaps a 50" flat panel screen. Panel would extend full width via triple segments - L fwd, Centre, R fwd synched and spanning full width. (The panel in 2D does not twist, ro…
