Hi guys! I am currently running a i7 3770k delidded at 4.5ghz and Asus direct CUII 6970 at stock speeds and was wondering if it would be worth an upgrade to perhaps a GTX770 or 780? Thinking of making the switch from Amd to Nvidia since this will be my main pc for fsx from now on. I have read countless posts but everyone has their own opinion and I would love to hear what your opinions are before I make a decision Thanks in advance guys! Have been reading the forums for a while now but my first post Aaron

I plan to build an new haswell system with 4670K (maybe 4770K). I wonder which video card is best matched to such a system ? First may I ask what result I could expect with my current GTX650 card ? I understand that this is a very weak card but how much will I be limited by it ? If I should buy a new card now I have come to the conclusion that it will be a GTX660. The cards above it is far to expensive right now. What is my best bet ? Buy a GTX680 ? Or use my GTX650 and wait until prices of GTX670 falls ? Or ?

I was at CompUSA today, and I saw some of the AMD video cards... Some of them are truly unresistable... They value of the card and the amount of performance they deliver is simply something that nVidia can't match. The only problem is that EVGA doesn't sell Radeon cards, if they did, it'd buy one right away. What do you guys think? Is nVidia really the best for FSX?

Hello, I run P3D with Nvidia control panel to look after the basics and it seems fine with my 660TI and I only ever fly photo scenery. Does anyone know, is Nv Inspector really going to be any better for me with P3D? Thanks Phil Murfin (Bakewell uK)

I'm looking to pick up a refurbished monitor (probably off ebay) to replace my Viewsonic 22" (also bought refurbished 5 years ago off ebay). Obviously, I'm not looking for the best quality with all the bells and whistles. Just a monitor that does 60hz and 1080p and isn't just an absolute dog. The Viewsonic I have now is pretty basic and I've been fine with it. Any brands I should avoid or specs I need to be educated on to avoid?

Hello! I had replaced some old things in my old computer with some new budget products from Newegg. I predicted FSX to be at full power with the new things I purchased (with the exception of a video card) but my performance was still pretty laggy with fsx.cfg tweaks and some setting tweaks applied. And since I heard FSX ran mostly on CPU power and not much on GPU, I really didn't consider a new card until now. I was wondering what the problem could be and would I need a new video card? (specs below) Thanks! --Specs-- Biostar 880GZ AM3+ AMD FX-4170 4.3GHz Overclocked Some after-market fan i don't remember the name of.. 8GB 1866Mhz GDDR3 Ram Nvidia GT220 1GB GDDR3 …

I'm currently in the process of finishing off buying parts for my new rig. Currently it consists of the following: 2700K Asus P8Z77-V Pro 8GB 2133mhz RAM CAS9 All of this will be running on one 23" monitor although I may upgrade to a 27" or higher down the road, but no plans on multi screen setups. I will more than likely go with an air cooler and OC as far as I can which might only mean 4.2ghz or there about using an air cooler but I just don't want to take the risk of faulty or leaking liquid cooling to ruin the party. I'm fine with not being able to push the limits of 4.5ghz or above using liquid cooling since the new rig will undoubtedly be much better t…

Just in case anyone else wants to try. I found some free software that runs like a switchable keyboard/mouse control on multiple computers. So I have my main computer with two screens and my laptop with its built in display. I run this free software called Input Director on both machines, making the main one as Master and the Laptop as Slave. Make sure they`re networked then set up some activation keys. I set the program to auto start on both then activate with the keys. This then allows me to use my main computer mouse/keyboard on the Laptop too! Using a panel in the ID I can set the 2 Main monitors as side by side though above below is ok too and the laptop at th…

Hi all, I'm looking at matrix tripple head to go and wanted some feedback from current users of the DVI model. I've always wanted to run tripple monitor but when I plugged a 2nd monitor into the spare DVI port my frames dropped to 10 from 40!!! I was told that THTG was the answer to my problems but at £250 I'm not willing to buy and take a gamble without some valued feedback from others. Input greatly appreciated thanks

I'm looking at getting a new laptop for my flight simming when I get home in August. At the moment the two laptops in contention are: http://www.chillblast.com/Chillblast-Genesis-7970-Gaming-Laptop.html - I'd spec this one out with the i7-3740QM CPU, 16GB RAM, and three hybrid HDDs with a total space of 2.5TB, and of course the Radeon 7970. The other option is: http://www.scan.co.uk/products/173-msi-gt70-2oc-241uk-24ghz-core-i7-4700mq-16gb-mem-2x-128gb-ssd-plus-750gb-hdd-3gb-gtx-770m-blu-ra I've not used a Radeon graphics card for many years now and am unsure of how well the 7970 will handle FSX - does anyone have any experience of this card in FSX? …

Hey guys, I finally made an upgrade today, and unfortunately am experiencing some graphic issues. The "Loading Windows" screen is just fine, however when it gets to the log in screen, the screen looks glitchy, out of focus, and just not very good. My upgrades were a Z87-plus mother board, the new i5 4670K, and a GTX 660. Is it the GPU? Or Something else? And how can I fix it? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Good day all. I am new in this part of the forum and I am here to just to ask some suggestions because I have no idea what to start with. I have two monitors now and I use one for VC and the second one for my utilities. I am thinking to use 2 monitors for VC (CA and OF sides) and use one of those for utilities at the same time if possible (like switching one monitor between VC and panels or utilities). I may go with 3 monitors to use 3 for VC and one of them for panels or utilities. So I am still guessing. Before I start buying more hardware and software I’d like to know what PC I have to have. I wonder if my current PC is able to handle 2 or 3 monitors and if it doesn’t…

Well, I'd appreciate some ideas on this one. I recently bought an HSI AMD/ATI HD 4670 AGP ll to update my geriatric Dell 8300. The card came with an OEM CD with drivers. I installed that and all went well and I'm very happy with the GPU. So I tried to get happier by installing the latest drivers. Went out to the AMD/ATI web page and downloaded what I thought was the right driver. I went through the driver uninstall process, then went through the installation of the latest driver. When the install dialogue was finished I rebooted but Windows came up in VGA with no Catalyst CM evident. Apparently nothing was installed. Any thoughts on where I went wrong? Thanks

Pics have been leaked: http://www.tweaktown.com/news/30220/leakedtt-could-these-be-the-gtx-780-and-gtx-770-signs-point-to-yes/index.html http://www.fudzilla.com/home/item/31305-nvidia-geforce-gtx-780-gtx-770-pixellized Release is slated for a couple of weeks from now it seems. Still trying to decide whether to switch out my 2GB 680 for a GTX 780 or not. Can't decide whether the performance improvement will be worth it seeing as according to a number of sites GTX 680 performance is about 75% of Titan performance and GTX 780 will sit somewhere between. Plus I'm only at 1080P. Have my 680 on ebay at the moment just to see if I can sell it off at a fairly high p…

G'day guys, I'm using Eyefinity for FSX so I can stretch over 2 monitors which hasn't been a problem until now.. I have been doing this problem free for the last 6 months and now all of a sudden (I haven't tried using it for about a month) when I setup eyefinity and try to stretch fsx over my 2 x Samsung 226bw's it will only duplicate what's on monitor 1. So far I have searched the net and can't seem to come up with a solution. I haven't changed hardware at all.. the only thing different I have done is unplug monitor 1 when I took my PC to my parents place. cheers Payno

Hi all, I'm new to this business but anyway my friend has a spare, brand new GPU, Evga GTX 660 SC that he can give to me. I would love to have it but I was wondering if its compatible with my motherboard Intel G41 by ASUS? I have a 1000W PSU so I needn't worry about that. I'm just concerned about the MoBo compatibility issue.

I've tried running with NVidia Driver versions between 314.07 and 314.22, and on each version, I get an immediate crash to desktop when launching FSX. It crashes before the FSX menu screen can open. It is also accompanied with a crash to the Windows dwm.exe module. Each time I tried a different version of the 314.xx NVidia drivers, I chose the option for full clean reinstall. Currently I am backed off to 301.42. Is anyone else experiencing anything similar? Thanks, in advance.
