Thinking of getting a new video card. I have a EVGS GTX 460 1gb card now. Any suggestions on upgrading to what card? Like to keep it under $350.

I run a GTX 460 card with FS2004. I get great frame rates but I do get some shimmering on buildings and other textures. Could it be my card or that a run it on a 27in monitor 1920x1080?

MaxiVista appears to be an interesting solution for surround visuals. If the 2nd and 3rd computers have good CPU's and GPU's, will frame rates equal those of main unit? Since the visuals are not going through the GPU of main unit, but through a network, onto a 2nd unit, I would guess the slave computer would require a good cpu/gpu to render complex scenery such as Orbx. Does adding more computers on the network to facilitate greater viewable area have an impact on FPS? My guess it puts a greater load on the CPU as the viewable area increases. Also: Since it works by undocking views, does that effect the alignment if using TIR etc? Anyone using MaxiVista, how do yo…

Hi guys, been an FS9 only guy for a long time and never run anything other than a single screen in fullscreen mode so new to all this! I've posted my PC spec on the MOBO forum along with my choice of monitor, an Iiyama XB2776QS 27" LED. I'd like a second screen to run aivlasoft flight bag and can't make my mind up whether to a run second monitor off my GPU (a Geforce TITAN, so it should cope!) or just keep everything separate and run my old PC alongside my new rig and let that handle aivlasoft, active sky and stuff like PFE. If I'm running two monitors off the same GPU then presumably I can't run FSX in fullscreen mode? Interested in anyone's suggestions about the bes…

Hello, I just updated my graphics card to a GTX 660, and if I run a game like Dead Space 3 I'm running at 120+ FPS. Yet on FSX with a PMDG 737NGX I'm running 7-10FPS at airports and 30-45fps while in sky flying, thing is I have an in game monitor and it never seems to use more than 45 to 50% of the cards power. I have never messed with my CFG file or anything of the short, any help would be greatly appriciated. Computer stats as follows: AMD Phenom II X4 910 2.6Ghz, 8 gig of RAM, Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit and a GTX 660 with a 32" 1080p HDTV and a 17" Monitor, I'll try and post some screen shots as well.

As some know, I have just recently upgraded from a nVidia GTX285 card, to an EVGA GTX680 Signature Plus O.C./2 GB memory unit. Since replacing the 285 (had it since 2009, until three weeks ago), I have continually tweaked my .cfg file with ever more aggressive lines within the sections. I simply have to say; If you install a 680....and if you choose to run A.A. at: 32xS[combined:2x2SSA +8xMS] Locked at 30 FPS in -sim...and staying anywhere over ORBX at 29-30 FPS!!! and run: [bUFFERPOOLS] BP=0,.... ....you will get smooth real-life animation, and what I now, and without hesitation, call REAL LIFE, WORLD VIEW!!! I just came off a business fligh…

I have an old GTX275 and would like know if upgrade to a GTX660 would make any difference. I have a core i2500K OC to 4.3 ghz. I have just a few add ons including Ultimate Traffic and REX. I do not want to spend ~ $300 and find an increase of only a few FPS. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Fairly simple question as above - going from a GTX 460 with a budget of around £160. Can get a brand new GTX 660, or a 'B' Grade GTX 580 like this (which I believe is overclocked): http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=BG-213-MS Which would be better for FSX bearing in mind that's pretty much all the machine does? And is there anything to be gained by leaving my current GTX 460 in the machine? Thanks

Ok, so I currently have a 3 Monitor setup. On my GTX670FTW I have a 27" IPS panel at 2560x1440 and I have 2 22" LCD mounted vertically (1080x1650). The 27" and one of the 22" monitors are running off my GTX670, the second 22" is running off on-board video (i3770k). My question is, if I were to purchase another card could I set it up without SLI running and have one card running my two 22" displays, and then my other card running the 27" display? Is this possible, if so is it a going to increase/decrease/not change performance? Would it be better to use SLI in the case of multiple monitors, one of which is super high res? Any input would be appreciated. Jordan.

Hello All, Just had a strange problem crop up today. I have the GTX680 and have been running 3 monitors with VC spanned across all 3. I loaded up a flight this morning and noticed that FSX was only displaying on 1 screen (center). I tried to move the edge of the FSX screen to the other monitors but nothing was happening. I can move the top and bottom screen but not the sides. I checked my setting in the Nvidia Control Panel and everything seems to be alright. I'm not sure what could of happened since I flew last night with no problems. The only thing I did differently was I flew in FSX multiplayer for the first time. Not sure if this is related but…

While having a morning coffee to sip through, I decided to read through on this forum that great sticky 'FSX hardware and software/tweak guide'. While travelling through the document, I came to realize that I had a number of 'redundant GTX 285' needed entries that, once were gone, and with myself tweaking now for a GTX 680 card, really made FSX shine as 'real as it gets' on the next fire up. I had old entries that were holding or throttling what the GTX 680 card could produce in FPS smoothness and general rendering. So, if you have upgraded, you might want to refresh your read on the sticky, and tweak the fsx.cfg to whatever new hardware CPU/GPU capabilities yo…

Hey guys, I recently updated my GTX 670 from a 560ti and I love it, I really do. Textures load so much quicker for me now. One issue I am having, that even maxing out NI AA and AF is that I am still seeing, maybe 200 feet or 300 feet down the runway lines turning jagged. It is almost on any surface. Wings, lines and such. If I turn on it a certain way is looks great but even in the cockpit, out the corner of my eye I can see where it is a little jagged. I don't remember this so with my 560. Does anyone who used a 670 have any advise or how they got around this? I have tried settings for AA and AF in game also on and off and see no difference. Than…

Well, this may be a strange request: I'd like to disable all but one of the graphic enhancements that ENB provides. How can I do this using the INI file? I understand that, for disabling all setings, there's nothing easier than uninstalling. However, I've noticed that, if I run FS9 with ENB in my laptop (i5 2435M with an Intel HD 3000 IGP - please don't laugh ), I can have AF when forced through the INI. If I run FS9 without it, no matter how I set it up in the Intel configuration panel, there won't be any AF at all, and thus, all but the closest ground textures will be blurry. I apologize if I offend someone, but currently I'm not interested in the features ENB …

OK guys i got my new Radeon 7770 today, upgraded from a XFX 9500GT. However when I try fsx in the PMDG 737 I get same FPS, (15-19) in VC and the same problem that prompted me to buy a new gfx card, long waiting time for the ground textures too sharpen (blurry for about 10 seconds, till the textures are sharp, GEX). All in all there is absolutely no difference between the 9500GT and 7770. I also deleted the CFG (Bojote) and the same issue. Am I doing something wrong? Do I have to reinstall FSX? Thanks

Bought a Gigabyte GTX560 Ti 1Gb video card last December from the USA. Previously had a EVGA GTX460 Ti 760Mb in my system which never gave any problems. Now, as can be seen from the attached photograph, for no apparent reason, I will get this strange pattern, which remains frozen for about 50-60 seconds, then disappears. Have the latest Nvidia drivers, so any one any idea what could be causing this? Same PSU powering this card as the EVGA. Thanks

Is there any way to "lock" this setting? My setting of 4096 is changed to 1024 almost daily...or at least it seems so to me. It occurs without my changing, adding, or uninstalling anything. Help appreciated and I will try to pass it on. Neal H

I'd like to run 2 monitors with FSX but am having issues. Without even getting into various possible configurations my problem is that if I open a 2nd view and undock it, then move it to the 2nd monitor, the 2nd view slows to a crawl and eventually crashes. Usually my main view is okay but the 2nd window just isn't working for me. So I'm not able to get to first base, let alone try out different ways of configuring it. The 2nd monitor is a different resolution (1900x1080) and aspect ratio (16:9) than my main monitor (1920x1200 and 16:10). Could this be the problem? Otherwise I have a relatively powerful system that I would think should be able to handle the 2nd monitor.

Hi What is the proper way of switching to a new graphic card. Do I really need a fresh FSX installation? I was thinking of this procedure: Uninstalling the graphic driver, swapping to new graphic card and installing new driver. Would this work? Sincerely -Geir

This runs independent of nVidia Inspector Anti Aliasing settings. It piggybacks and enhances/supports them in hardware. You might not have this great Kepler feature running in the driver. Right click on your desktop, and then click on the Nvidia Control Panel. Click on Manage 3D settings and then check mark the FXAA box. At the bottom of the screen, click APPLY. There you go...you're done. Leave that feature on. If you read on the Nvidia site, this hardware does not override in game, or Inspector settings, it ENHANCES them. Try it out, you'll like what you see post check-mark. Mitch

I have an AMD Athlon II 3.5 GHz not overclocked or anything, and a Radeon ATi 6800 card. I really want to upgrade in a pretty major way; the system seemed state of the art for a moderate budget a couple of years ago and I see 3.5 GHz is still fast. But FPS is poor when using FTX YMML etc What can I do guys? I could spend say $750 on a video card if that gets me anything amazing although less is better obviously. But perhaps without a better CPU it won't be god on its own? (Sorry I wrote 8700 before)

Hi Folks. I am running FS9 with Win 7 with 3 screens. I have center screen as cockpit, then right and left screens as right and left cockpit window views. Does anybody please know how I can get the horizon level across the three screens? I am using undocked views for right and left, and the horizon is much lower than the center cockpit view, but I can't find a way of raising the horizon level on right and left screen. I can raise the aircrafts window frame etc, but not raise the outside scenery. If I hit full screen it all turns very pear shaped, and I cannot get back to my menus to shut down and have to do alt ctl del to get out of it. Any suggestions gratefully receive…
