I have a question about my add-on airports. I run FS 2004. Sometimes when I am getting near my Aerosoft add-ons the airport texture area will flash white for a second or two. Is this a video issue? I have a EVGA GTX 460 1gb card. My cpu is a a Q9550 oc to 3.0. 8 gigs of ram.

I am currently running a rig with a i7 920 Overclocked to 4.2 Ghz hyperthreading enabled. I have 6 gigs of tripple channel ram, but an old GTX 275. When i build the machine i was on a budget, so I got the GTX 275 with around 900Mb Ram. It worked great, but now I am relly considering a new GPU, since that is my bottleneck I Guess!? I mostly play FSX, but altså other games. Until now my computer has run everything nice and smooth, but I have trouble keeping up with new games like Far Cry 3, Bioshock infinite etc. Altso it would be great to see a little performance boost in fsx with a new GPU!? What do you guys recommend?

Downsampling and FSX with nVidia card Please ignore if already discussed. I have been experimenting with the technique of downsampling of my monitor to improve the visual appearance of FSX with a minimal setting of in-game AA. This is a tweak for those simmers that are still seeing jagged edges and shimmering even using the excellent graphics set up details provided by Word Not Allowed, ******* and NickN and/or others. Their tweaks should always be used first, and if the picture quality is still poor downsampling could be worth a try. Note: AA doesn't always work in the game or when you use the nvidia control panel and/or nvidia inspector, so this i…

As the title of this topic suggests, my Nvidia GeForce® GTX 460 video card is about to go kaput! It's nearly two years old and gets a good workout. So I need a new one if I am to continue enjoying my wonderful PMDG products and the upcoming 777 (yes, I am a kiss-&@($*). Either that, or get my CPL and buy a 777. I think I'll go with a new card. So the card I have fits a PCI Express slot and I am using DirectX9, as I'm told that DirectX10 is too buggy and performs slower. I don't know if this is a problem or not, but I've noticed that a lot of the cards I look at on the Nvidia website mention DirectX11. Does this make the card unsuitable for using FSX, or c…

I thought that this may be an oddity of my graphics card/driver, but I now have a new graphics card with different drivers and I still get the same odd thing: a white border, probably just a pixel in size along the top and left-hand side of my monitor. The bottom and right-hand edges are clear. Moreover, I only get this in Spot and Cockpit view. When I switch to VC view, it goes. And it is only there in FS - it's not on my desktop or when I am using Windows Explorer, or whatever. It wouldn't be so much of a problem if the border didn't tend to flicker and so draw attention to itself. Anyone else had this problem (.. and solved it!)? It would be nice not to have to tro…

If you take the same basic GPU card, but one version has 50% higher number of CUDA cores than another, will that higher number make any perceptible difference in FSX or P3D performance? If so, what will the difference be?

Hey everyone, It's been two years since I got my AMD Radeon HD 6870 (1GB) and I am wondering if it's worth upgrading it to a more newer graphics card. I do use Flight Simulator X and play other games such as Minecraft and Battlefield 3 at this moment in time. The rest of my computer specifications are listed below: Case: Antec 300 CPU: Intel Core i5 2500k @ 4GHz Ram: Corsair XMAS3 16GB DDR3 Motherboard: ASUS P8Z68-V LX Graphics Card: AMD Radeon HD 6870 (1GB) Hard Drives: 2x 1TB Samsung F3 :: 500GB Western Digital Operating System: Windows 8 Pro (64 Bit) Any replies will be appreciated! Cheers,

I currently have a single 22inch widescreen running 1680x1050 reoslution. When I use virtual cockpit mode, My controls take up about 80% of the space leavign just 20% at the top of the screen for outside. (and no periphal vision at all). I don't have the room for a multi monitor setup, I was thinking ZI could go for a 27inch monitor with 2560x1440 reoslution. I just wanted to chekc that would give me a much better experience? The cost of those montiors is relaly expensive so i don't want to spend that much if a single monitor setup is still limited. also i know I will probably need a graphics card upgrade which is fine because I needed one anyway. other option is …

Hello guys, I am starting to have some FPS problems and wanted to know more about overlocking my computer. I just download the Nvidia Ispector and looking at the overlocking settings I see no activity. I dont really know how this works, but I know it something risky. I bought my computer with overlocking option but I am not sure if it something he does automatically of if I have to set it up. I want to share a screenshot about my Nvidia inspector, maybe some of you guys can give me some hint about the best configuration? Thanks to all!

Been looking for a 42" plasma 1080P but they are 300$ more than a 51" 1080P. Supply and demand :-) Can my video card run the 51"? Should I be considering anything else as well with my setup? Power supply etc??.. I plan on using my 24" Syncmaster monitor for the guages.. My GPU is GT640OC 2 GB DDR3 ram. It says it supports 4 monitors.. My other option is to go with a 37" LED 120HZ 1080P but they are almost the same price as the 51" plasma. My initial plan was a 3 monitor setup but 3 - 51"ers would be HUGE. 37"- 42" would be preferable I think.. 3 for cockpit and the 24" for guages.. Comments??? Thanks

I had been running happily on my GTX460 and old Asus 1600x900 24in monitor and decided to upgrade. I got a GTX650 card, but to get a better resolution, I bought a Korean QNIX 2710 monitor on ebay. Monitor arrived yesterday, so now I can run the sim on 2560x1440 and raised the refresh in the monitor to 90hz. I tested the setup with the Majestic Q400, and whilst before my new setup I never got under 25fps, in this flight, as soon as I got in heavy cloud, I went down to 9fps. I lowered the resolution to 1900x1200 but made no difference. Is there anything else I can try? Anybody able to advise what my bottleneck is? Thanks in advance

Is there any added benefit of the 3014 over the 3011? The price differential makes the choice obvious. Does anyone have knowledge of both merits?

I dropped a new video card into my old PC the other day. Not the highest end card, but one a major step up from the old Nviida GT420 card I had. I put in a GT630 card and was expecting major frame rate improvements from FS9. I had been getting 25-30 FPS out of the old card and when looking up at clear blue sky, it would go up to 50 FPS. With the latest WHQL drivers (314.22) I was very disappointed. The sim came to a crawl. It was in the single digits for virtual cockpit, low teens in the 2D and got 25 FPS tops in the external views (not many clouds). Not acceptable. I tweaked my fs9.cfg a little, to insure it was picking up the right card, but its been…

Hi all Help needed. Today I used a software tool which scans the PC for obsolete drivers and then removes them. So I ran the scan, cleared out the 'obsolete' drivers and rebooted. I have zero monitor display now- not even a DOS screen. Furthermore when I turn the PC on the monitor power light just flashes, no steady light is established. I know the PC itself is booting up properly because my Avast AV program has an audio cue when the windows opens the desk top screen -I'm hearing that cue. So, it seems to me that my video card is now sending no signal at all to my monitor. Asus 660Ti GTX Any views Thanks Eric

Hi, I have recently bought three Dell 27" IPS screens which I am very pleased with EXCEPT I have one which exhibits fine horizontal lines over 2/3 of the screen after startup. I am using a digital triple HTGO unit which I prefer to the Three output Nvidia 680 GTX 4 g ram which I could use. The screens boot to the password and when going to desktop, but sometimes the original 2/3 screen on one has fine horizontal lines over the desktop. Mostly a restart does the trick but occassionaly its two that ist required. Any help welcome Regards David

I'm thinking of overclocking my laptops ATi Mobility Radeon HD 4530. I want to do it safely, although this laptop is on its last legs and i am due to replace it in a month or twos time, i don't want to trash it and not be able to recover my data etc. I'm a beginner and have never overclocked anything before. I can't find a guide anywhere that i understand deeply enough to know i'm not going to break something. Someone please point me in the right direction?

Is a video card required to run FX9 smoothly? CPU: My CPU is a 64bit Intel Sandy Bridge i7 2600K Quad Core Hyperthreaded unit running at 3.4 GHz with a built-in turbo frequency of 3.8GHz, an 8MB cache; and perhaps most importantly, it has integrated Intel HD Graphics 3000, which is the equivilent of having an after market video card. RAM: 16GB Monitors: Dual IPE Panel, 1920x1200 I have been advised in the FX9 forum that FS9 will run well on less than state of the art computers.

OK guys, here`s the deal. Recently I have experienced some issues with my FSX. It all started when the computer booted into 640x480 resolution several times. I reinstalled my GPU drivers every time, no help. Then I pulled out the GPU from the slot, cleaned the inside of the computer and the gpu and put it back. It worked for some time. Then I experienced different problem, which I described even here on Avsim forums (http://forum.avsim.net/topic/401724-fsx-hibernates-computer-please-help-to-find-a-solution/). Again, no help. And this weekend I turned on the computer after several weeks to give it a shot and fly again. I fired up the FSX and voila - no antialiasing on w…

I noticed today while flying the Majestic Dash 8 that my framerates were going above 30. I took a look at Inspector and it is Vertical Sync is set for 1/2 Refesh Rate and framerates in FSX set to unlimited. Any idea why this might be happening? Note that I have two screens hooked up to the video card.
