Hi all,I have an LCD Samsung S23B550 monitor ans a GTX560TI graphics setup.During menu progress bar loading the monitor dims, not a problem. However when I fly at night,if I am not looking directly at instrument lighting or another light source the monitor goes into a "dim" mode.Does anyone know how to stop this?

I'm having an intermittent problem with my Alienware Aurora. My monitor is going into sleep mode all of a sudden (goes black), and I have to turn off the PC to get it to work again. I'm now trying a new video cable, and will try another monitor next. I have just cleaned it out, so I don't think heat is an issue. I have 2 NVidia GTX295 cards now. If it turns out one of the cards is bad, what would be the recommended NVidia replacement cards that would work well for FSX? I'd like ones that would basically be an easy install, and would not take much technical knowledge to put in.

I am looking at getting 3 plasmas for my setup. I was told today the a plasma will use WAY more GPU resources than a LED. His comment was the LED was only 120Hz and the plasma 600Hz so about 5 times the GPU load. Any validity to this statement? They are both roughly 42" 1080P 1920x1080. Thanks

I am replacing my old GT9500 with a GTX550 TI I picked up . I did a clean install of driver 314.07. My system works fine, until I start FSX! I immediately get an error box stating the GTX550 TI does not meet mnimum requirements for shader support. I have looked into everthing I could think of, just short of reinstalling FSX. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, Guys!

  9. Hi. I just downloaded driver version 314.07 from the EVGA site, but wasn't sure if that is considered the best one for FSX with my EVGA GeForce GTX 650 Ti Superclocked GPU. Any comments on this from you sim veterans would be welcome. Thanks, Jeff

With the new Nvidia 680 you no longer need an extra video card to output to 3 or more LCDs/Projectors. This negates the need for the Matrox Triple Head to Go. Has anyone with the 680 tried Nvidia Surround mode with FSX?

  12. I really would like to buy a 30 inch monitor for the new PC that I am building at the moment. There are lots of different opinions about which brand and size suits better. Also there is a 21:9 inch that came out just now, but I dont know how bad or good looks the fsx on it. Which widescreen monitors do you think would be the best to run FSX. Thanks guys

    I would like better sharpness/readability on add-on aircraft panels, i.e. Coolsky DC-9 widescreen 2/iFly 737/PMDG 737 NGX, etc. Currently I have a 27" 1920 x 1080 monitor. Would the Dell UltraSharp 27" or 24" look sharper? Thanks. Dave

  16. Hi all Im new to the site but so far are so pleaseed with how helpful you all are ! I need some help though, my wife is the real flight 'simmer', our spare room has been transferred to a cockpit with 3 x 32" screens and an assortment of instruments/yokes, and she can spend hours flying. I do get involved and do enjoy flying around. I often make my wife jealous remembering how we used to watch aircraft taking off and landing from our house as a child as my dad was in the RAF,seeing Nimrods, Hunters, Jag's, Shackletons Etc taking off whilst having breakfast was normal to me. Anyway, My wife bought a Dell desktop specifically for FSX but has constant battles …

Hi all, I currently have a GTX580 which by default supports 2 monitors. I have 2 1920x1080 monitors now plugged into this card and have FSX flying on one monitor in windowed mode. Now my question is: As now I am building a CPU focused computer, with room to expand (both cooling and possibly PSU) to SLi; should I stay with just the single 580 now - with a powerful CPU, will I be bottlenecked by the GPU having FSX expanded across the two monitors (kind of like getting a wider view effect)? Or in my case, it would probably be better to get an additional GTX580 and have them running in SLi?

Okay...I have only just got FSX set up with a lightning fast I5 2500K overclocked to 4.4ghz but the graphics card which is a Sapphire dual-fan DiRT3 edition HD6950 gives me really bad antialiasing (jaggies, stairsteps, etc) but my frames are rocketing up really high, even with ORBX scenery and Carenado aircraft! When I try changing the antialiasing in the Catalyst Control Center, and then click "fly now" in FSX the screen goes black instead of coming up with the loading bar. Any solutions as I really want to get it up and running instead of flying on my old scenery development PC.Frank

hello i have a HD7870 with a amd fx 8120 running at 4.2ghz anybody has tweaks for the video card to make fsx run smooth n around 30 to 25 fps

  24. So... My FSX has been looking OK... Not super, just great. I've been noticing microstutters, poor framerates, etc. I had thought that my HD6870's were 2gb cards, but they are in fact 1gb each. Don't quite know how I missed that, exactly. So... I'm considering new video cards. Yes, I've read the many threads about ATI vs nVidia card, some of which end in comments that simply disparage one maker or the other or the posters. I've looked at the data and framerates, etc. Yes, nVidia units do appear to perform better in FSX. Such may be the case. However, I am moving to an Eyefinity-type display with 3 monitors. I'm understanding that for multiple moni…

I have posted this question on the ORBX forums also, I want to get as much info as possible to assist me, Hi I am seeking some advice, I am about to purchase a GTX 680 4GB graphics card, I have narrowed it down to 3 potential cards. I am only using FSX mainly on the machine with all ORBX add-ons and REX Essentials, the CPU is a i7 3970x, my question is does the base clock speed of the GPU matter when it comes to FSX as the cards I am deciding on have the following 1. Asus - 1006Mhz 2. Gigabyte - 1071MHz 3. EVGA - 1111MHz Obviously there is a price difference between these 3 cards but I am trying to get as much performance GPU wise out of FSX, Any advic…
