  1. The problems here are that there are rarely window_size values in the original panel.cfg. If I use window_size=0.333, 1 I get variable results. I have tried tweaking these two values but find I am going around in circles. I get tiny panels or huge ones that fill the screen. Some of the 'adjusted' pop-ups do not 'fit' their windows and cannot be re-sized in the usual way with the mouse cursor. This is the original panel.cfg file: I'd be grateful for any help. Thanks. // Original Panel By Stefan Liebe // Modified , adaptated and improved By Francois Dore with permission // FD_Vnav.xml is © Francois Dore 2012 // Fd_fuel_system is © Francois Dore 2012 // f…

  2. Read about it at the Tech Report. Now, I'm not saying this will definitely help the low FPS scenario many Radeon users encounter in heavy clouds, because I don't know for sure if that scenario is bound by memory access (either bandwidth or latency) but this sure can't hurt!

  3. For those that always like to say a 4GB videocard is overkill and not really needed unless you run multimonitor setups and uber-high resolutions, well let me tell this... I just did a test flight using the default C172 (using the RealAir FS9 air file) from KRIC to Norfolk NAS with TileProxy set at 30cm, level_mapping=9,10,11,14,14,14,15,16,17,18,19, and the flight was 100% stutter free and as sharp as can be. When I checked my VRAM usage via PrecisionX, my VRAM usage at one time peaked at 2.8GB while it averaged around 2.6GB the whole flight. This would have choked a 2GB card and murdered a 1GB card. This is using TP, REX and UTX (even though UTX is just for 3D ni…

  4. hi if we install 2gb dedicated gpu cards, either in one card or in 2 separate cards format, does FSX use all the 2gb memory available in the pc while flying? or does it only use a certain amount of the gpu system memory? thanks

Just installed these new drivers and they've really had a bad effect on FSX - very bad spiking and about 5-10 lower fps. The really bad part is even after fully uninstalling the 310s and returning to 306.97s, I still get some spiking and stutters (I had none before)...argh  It seems I'm not the only one: http://forum.avsim.net/topic/394190-cant-get-rid-of-spikes/

I just installed 3 monitors with eyefinity and I have the 2D panel missing problemas wel as the spinning icon. I have tried numerous searches for the above title and by Georges name with no luck Thanks Jack

Ok before anyone tells me... i am afraid I do know Nvidia is better but i suffer from Asus RMA process. I used to have a nice Asus 580 Matrix but I went through the nightmare of the Asus RMA process that went over 4 months, culminating in Asus losing my card - after sending it back to me in pieces on their third attempt to "fix it". Then they did me a "favor" and replaced it with their new ASUS HD7950-DC2T-3GD5 Radeon HD 7950 3GB 384-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card....(what a mouth full) I do have it on three screens and enjoy that a lot. On a new OS install I want to tune it better for FSX. I have looked over Wo…

NV released (lifted NDA) the next Kepler GPU today. Like other X60 series cards it is just X80 with slower clocks (980 vs 1006) and a core disabled. But the card is smaller than others at 9.25 inches and has a TDP of only 170W. Performance is near GTX 680 in games reviewed, less than 10% in most games, and it costs about $100.00 less. Like expected FSX was not included in any of the reviews. In non-FSX games the GTX 670 beat the GTX 580 and both of the AMD 79XX cards by a good margin. GTX580 is currently listed at $430 on Newegg and the GTX 670 has an MSRP of $399.00. Hopefully it gives at or near 580 performance in FSX while using much less power and creatin…

  11. Hi I am thinking about adding to my Dell 27" monitor with 2 further identical monitors. Will the 680 supply enough to provide 7650 x 1440 resolution and good framerates or am I best to wait for the 7 series next year ? Or is this just not possible yet ? I am used to high settings and 30% traffic at present and if I can get 25fps at payware airports with the PMDG I would be more than happy. Thanks Paul

  12. Background: I have 3 identical Acer AL1916 (Older 4:3, 1280 x 1024) that are finicky about starting up. I know this because of the start up issues that i have overcome (since 2008) before when using them with my TH2GO digital and now my 660TI card. Each time I eventually got to a point where I could reliably start and use them. Thanks to Nvidia I no longer have to use the TH2GO which I was really happy to retire (along with my GT 460). The monitors require a 57Hz custom resolution to start. Once I get the custom resolution dialed in - I have had this setup work and been really satisfied running in portrait mode w/ bezel adjustments to yield a 3189 x 1280 view. U…

  13. Hi there, I've just upgraded to the MSI OC Nvidia GTX 560 Ti (Hawk edition, whatever that is!). The performance increase is mind blowing, your probably wondering how I can say it's a serious increase in performace, well my previous GPU was an in-built Intel HD 2000 Graphics which was frankly, ######! I've also just installed a new Cooler Master 650W Bronze PSU to my system. If anyone has any recommended settings for the afterburner tool (as seen in the pic below) for my card (MSI OC GTX 560 Ti hawk) then please let me know. My current settings are in the image below. Also if anyone knows of any good add-ons to get for FSX that will increase the quality and graphi…

  14. I have a new GTX 580 "Classified" that I am trying to install (I previously had a GTX 460). On booting up with the new GPU I noted a beep sequence at POST: LONG-SHORT-SHORT-SHORT. Looking on the 'net I noted that this represents the GPU not initializing, most likely to a power connector not seated or installed. Sure enough, I noted that this GPU requires 2X 8-pin and 1X 6-pin power. The respective power connectors arrived today and have just been installed. On attempting to start I still get the same beep sequence at POST. On checking further on-line I have found posts with the same card and issue, with solutions such as "I need to load a driver for this card b…

  15. Hi everyone Hmmmmm .... this is an interesting one and just wondered if anyone else has experienced this recently .. I am using a GTX 670 NVidia card with the latest driver installed and for some reason I cannot resize FSX completely over all three screens I get the usual 'double headed' arrow when I place the mouse cursor at the edge of the window but when I try to drag the window out over all three screens it will only go so far and stop .... Everything is fine when I am in 'Full screen mode' but I use FS Commander so I need to run the simulator in a window . Just for the record ...I have just noticed that it isn't isolated just to FSX i tried t…

  17. Hello! I am, after around 2 years with my computer, planning an upgrade. Before I start, I'll list my specs: Asus Sabertooth P67 MOBO Intel Core i5 2500K @ 4,8GHz CPU Corsair Vengeance 8GB 1600MHz CL9 RAM Corsair HX 850W 80+ Silver PSU Gigabyte GTX 560Ti 1GB GPU 500GB HDD 150GB HDD 128 GB SSD Corsair Vengeance C70 Case Some really noisy but great Scythe fans I have looked around and found this graphics card: MSI GTX670 Power Edition OC It seems like a really nice card with high speeds, nice amount of memory and really good overclocking opportunities. The question is: Will it do my FSX any good? Right now I am running FSX on high settings with a …

Giving FXAA a try. I have a Radeon HD 6850 with latest Direct X. I deleted my Radeon profile for FSX and disabled anti-aliasing in FSX itself. I run FSX in Windowed mode with the VSync/Aero fix startup method. I installed a FXAA profile for FSX, verified it copied its file shortcuts into the FSX folder (d3d9 dlls, shaders, injx folder, etc), and did a simple test with just FXAA anti-aliasing and sharpening enabled. I went into those feature pages and MAX'd their effects for quality. SAVED the FSX profile settings in FXAA. Got into the game. Nothing. No anti-aliasing in effect. FXAA seems to be an NVidia product; will it work with my Radeon? Anything I …

  21. Hi Everyone. I need your help. If you run FSX over three monitors, by using either a matrox TH2GO or Eyefinity, you will know that when FSX is in 2D panel mode the mouse pointer will start flickering, framerates will drop, etc. The problem has been well documented on these forums and some geniuses posted the fix (thank you!). Editing the panel.cfg and reducing the 2D panels to one third will take care of the problem. If you own the PMDG 737 NGX and have edited its panel.cfg could you help me out? I have tried reducing every WINDOW in the panel.cfg by one third, in the window_size parameter, but I am obviously doing something wrong and I cannot figure out wha…

Hello everyone, I am in serious need of some help. I just got my new asus VK278Q monitor and set it up using a DVI cable. Everything worked correctly, it booted it up fine and I am getting crystal clear images. However I have a problem with the video card. Whenever I try and load up the nvidia control panel this message pops up I don't get it though. Everything worked perfectly well with my old hdtv monitor except i used a hdmi cable with that and now i am using a dvi cable. My FSX won't even pick it up when I go into the FSX settings, i am getting the rigid textures instead of smooth lines which I normally get with my inspector settings. I'd love to get some input…

Howdy, I posted this in the CTD forum but I have thoughts that the problem may be video card related so I'm posting it here - I hope it's ok to post here as well - I'm having some weird problems with my 2 year old system since I installed the BN-2 Islander and Quest Kodiak payware aircraft. What happens with the Islander is that sometimes when I change views (outside to VC or back again or other view changes), or from map view back to VC, or even when I change the date/time or location - my display becomes corrupted in a variety of ways. One way is that it looks as if the computer didn't fully redraw the display and I have to restart FSX. Sometimes wi…
