Hey guys, it's been a while since I've played/flown FSX and I recently just build a new rig, though admittedly I picked parts out specifically for a different simulation, but I figured I should at least be able to play FSX on somewhat average settings, but apparently not. Computer specs: Windows 7 ASUS M5A97 motheboard AMD Phenom 965BE 3.4GHz HD7850 2GB 8GB DDR3 RAM 750W PSU 1280x1024 @ 60Hz The sim I spend most of my time on, Falcon BMS 4.32, gets great framerates (45-60) with max settings, but of course the scenery is nothing close to FSX. I thought that with such good results I should at least get a decent framerate with scenery and autogen on den…

  2. I currently have the EVGA GTX 560Ti 2GB, and am looking at an early Christmas present for myself with the EVGA GTX670 FTW 2GB. I noticed the difference in: GeForce GTX 560 Ti (Fermi) Core Clock 822MHz Shader Clock 1645MHz CUDA Cores 384 compared to GeForce GTX 670 Core Clock 1006MHz Boost Clock 1084MHz CUDA Cores 1344 Here is why I am looking to change over, and hopefully someone can see if I am in the right zone. I run ORBX, and HD textures. I look for fast, sharp picture quality, and don't fly much other than low and slow, GA type. I am an eye candy type of person, who appreciates Carenado, RealAir, and A2A. I love AA, and AF to b…

Hi All I got a new Asus 660TiGTX video card today as well as a 27Inch new Samsung SynchMaster 27A300 TV/monitor. I installed it the video card, removed the old drivers, did a residual driver cleanout, and have tried to install the new 660Ti driver software. The installation keeps failing and I get a message saying that the PhysX driver installation failed. All the other components seemed to install fine. My display looks as it would with no drivers installed. Any advice? Cheers eric EDIT: SOLVED

Greetings All - I'm considering going into a Multiple Monitor Setup. Either Dual or Triple. I've heard different sides of the coin, so hopefully I can get some good input. Current System Specs - AMD Phenom X4 965 3.4 (No O/C) ASUSTek M3a76-CM 8GB DDR2 (I'm guess DDR3 would be a better route) NVIDIA GTX 550TI 2GB Acer P23'' 1920x1080 FSX SP2 RC V4 ASE UT2 PMDG 737NGX Would it be safe to purchase another P23" hook into the GPU (second DVI port) and expand the desktop? If I wanted to go "triple" invest to a beefier graphics card? I also see the TripleHead2Go systems out there as well. What is the vibe on those setups? Is it even possible to ex…

Hi All I'm just about done with my new build for FSX and am stuck on the GPU. I was originally set on the GTX660Ti OC and then noticed the GTX670 is not actually a game-changing amount more money. Any suggestions from those who use either card. I know in theory the GTX670 is the faster card, but would be interested to hear opinions from those using either in FSX. Thanks Martin

Hi there, Currently have a 9800GT. Am thinking of upgrading to a 660GTX. Is this a worthwhile upgrade? Do you recommend a better card other than 660GTX. I do notice a lot of lag when I'm on the ground. Other specs; i7 920 @ standard clock speed. 6GB Ram. Asus Motherboard Thanks.

Hi all, I just made crossed the fence into the land of Nvidia. I've read that NVidia is the FSX GPU. With my ATI, there was very little that I could do to control how the drivers interact with FSX. Now using Nvidia Inspector, and profiles from a variety of gurus, I've noticed the increase in quality, but I've also noticed a fairly significant hit to my framerates. I've run my cfg though *******'s configuration. Does anyone have a similar build that could help me find the sweetspot in my Inspector settings? Nvidia GTX 660 Ti FSX (fully upgraded with all SPs) running in windowed mode. Windows Vista 64bit Intel i7 2600k 4.2ghz

  9. Hi, I am tying to configure 1 over 3 hd lcd minitor (3X Asus VE248Q) and one Accessory display using Asus VE278H. First, does it matter which connector i use for the 1 over 3, my card has 3 DVI and one mini display port. So should I connect the 3 VE248Q in the 3 DVI and the fourth screen in the mini display port? would that work? all my connection to the screen are HDMI. My second question would be: if I use the mini display port in my 1 over 3 setup (2 screens on DVI and one on mini DP) do I need a "DisplayPort to Dual-link DVI" because now I use a mini display port to HDMI converter. Finaly anyone know about a good guide to help me setting the Nvidia contro…

Hi, Quick question, I pulled the trigger on a Nvidia 670 to replace my 560TI which was the weakest link in my system. My home setup had the 560TI running the VC and my onboard running another monitor with the MCDU, EICAS etc etc. From what I have read the ENB mod wont work with more then one monitor running on seperate cards. Has anyone got multi monitors to work on the 660/670 etc with the bloom mod? Not a huge deal if wont work however It would be a bonus. Cheers

Hello All ---- Just upgraded my system from a GTX 460 which has served me well for well over a year. No problems at all. My new card, a GTX 660 Ti with 2GB, is giving me a problem I never saw before. I have also installed the latest driver and also tried the earlier driver that came with the card. Card bios has also been updated with latest version. The problem is that I boot with a reference aircraft. Presently this is the ultralight. I then choose my aircraft from the multi-aircraft thumbnail window to fly. Before the 660 Ti install, I never had any issues at this point. Now, most aircraft will NOT load from the thumbnail selection window. The system j…

Hi All, I have recently completed a home build after getting some great advice on these forums. I have followed Word Not Allowed's excellent guide for tweaking FSX and have had some good results. I am having a little trouble with Nvidia Inspector. When I set it up as per Word Not Allowed's guide I do not get nice smooth results. I am unsure what I need to change to improve things for my GPU which is an Asus GTX 660 TI I haven't started to OC my CPU or GPU and was also wondering if this would help Richard

  14. I have been using a Samsung 24" TN monitor for my FS rig for years. I got an unexpected bonus from work recently and decided to blow it on something I wanted for a change, instead of benefiting the entire family (man, do I feel guilty now, LOL...) or putting away in savings as has been customary during this recent economy. Ssshhh - I haven't told my wife yet.... Anyway, after reading around the forums and a few PC magazine reviews, I chose to indulge myself with the Dell U3011 30" IPS panel. Coupled with my GTX570 and my TrackIR5, I'm hoping it will be a nice upgrade for most of my big-iron flying in the VC and all the add-on goodies fully displayed at 2560x1600…

  17. http://forum.avsim.n...-graphics-mode/ I posted my experience with trying to load X Plane 10 (N.A.) on my new AMD A10 system. The installer screen was unreadable until I disabled the "Dual Graphics" feature in AMD's Catalyst Control Centre. Dual Graphics is the term AMD uses when it basically crossfires a discrete graphic card with the GPU built into the A-Series APU's. There are only a very few specific cards that can be used in this Dual Graphics mode and it depends on which one of the A-Series APU (integrated graphic CPU) you have. This is part of the new Trinity Chipset and is a cool feature - when it works. Anyway I found that in order to be able to read…

Hey all, I am toying with inspector and really feeling uncomfortable with the options available. I would love to see some higher end SLI inspector profiles to get an idea of what I should be aiming for. Also, I cannot find a link to Word Not Allowed's blog page anywhere to follow that advice. All help and guidance is appreciated. For reference: I am running 680 4gb cards in SLI on the most current drivers. Thanks Dan

I got an Alienware M17x with NVidia 680M yesterday and am a bit shocked regarding the low fps in FSX. At my usual situation (EDDF with PMDG 737NGX) I get just 5 fps. Now, I had an Asus G75 with 670M some weeks ago for testing and got around 20 fps in the same situation. What the heck is going on, the 680M is supposed to be the fastest card on the market for Laptops ? Both Laptops use the same driver, and in the NVidia 3D settings, FSX is connected with the NVidia card. Some comparison values with 3DMark 06 (DirectX9 benchmark): Asus/670M : 15800 Alienware/680M : 24300 Similar results with 3DMark11, the 680M performs roughly 40% faster. I checked some games, …

I would like to know before I upgrade my video card, how does the GTX 560SE model do in terms of FSX and my Phenom II X4 @ 3.6 Ghz? My current ATI card is wearing out and cannot handle FSX very well and keeps overheating. My lowest constant FPS I recorded is when I load aerosoft Madrid scenery, my average is 3 FPS. I am also planning of putting FSX on an SSD but thats another subject. I ask specifically for this Nvidia card because the 550Ti is on the weaker end of things and the GTX 560 is a little over my max budget and I do not want to stay with AMD/ATI. Reason is, that Nvidia seems to be choice card for FSX over AMD, so I am not willing to take chances. http:/…

I am running FSX Gold in W7 x64 with i7 Ivybridge 4000 Ghz o/c watercooled; 8GB DDR3; Nvidia 670GTX 4GB (301.42 driver). I am attempting to set up surround view with three NEC monitors 1920 x 1200 (60 Hz). Connections are DVI - DVI x2 and DisplayPort - DisplayPort. Using default Cessna, the problems are: 1. Unable to get accurate vertical bezel correction - horizontal is good. I read somewhere that the 'camera' settings in FSX can be used to adjust the bezel but where are these settings to be found? 2. Constant flickering cursor - a sign of impending doom (BSD) in my experience. 3. Main panel gone AWOL. 4. Pop-up panels wildly out of scale. 5. N…

I recently upgraded to a pair of EVGA GTX 680 FTW 4GB cards from my HD6950s. The cards arrived and I noticed that the boxes actually said FTW LE. I was surprised but for the most part it seemed this was just a small marketing addition so I went ahead and installed them. The cards in SLI ran great and were seemingly an improvement from the old setup. However the LE moniker disturbed me. However with work stress that issue went to the bottom of my list. Today I received a notification that Newegg had the FTW+ cards back in stock so I called EVGA to inquire as to what I was "missing". Apparently the FTW Standard cards I ordered are a factory OC version of the PC…

  24. I have three Dell (U2412M) monitors 1920 x 1200. I need to upgrade my graphics card should I go for 660TI, 670 or would the 680 give me best bang for buck? 2GB, 3GB or 4GB I read somewhere that 3GB would be a benefit for a triple monitor setup. Thoughts and suggestions appreciated. Cheers

I have my choice of keeping one of two graphics cards: either an EVGA 9600GT #01G-P3-N869-AR with 1GB and the standard 650MHz clock, or another EVGA 9600GT #512-P3-N868-AR which is 512MB but stock-superclocked to 740MHz. So which is better? More memory or higher clock for FSX in the GPU department? Thanks for your help!!!
