Just about to install a 580 NV card. Is there any sweet spot regarding which driver to use, and where is a good resource for drivers that are not current release? Thanks, all the best to everyone, Bruce.

Is there anyone out there using a 6-monitor setup with FSX. I have two Matrox units but the app only displays on one 3-monitor set. Matrox said there is some way to combine the outputs from my graphics card. Thanks, Frank

  3. Hi I have 2 cards 680 runs 3 monitors in surround + 1 TOTAL=4 670 runs 2 other monitors TOTAL=2 all this runs ok, now i wanted to add one more.. well 2 more but lets start with one.. so i add another monitor to 670 and fsx crashes with g2d.dll error when i want to go FS-mode or even in windowed modewhen i open more windows "undock" and try to move them around..? I should say windows7 OS all works fine.. as soon as i disable this display (the extra monitor) in NVidia config panel all works fine...so: GOOD 680 runs 3 monitors in surround + 1 TOTAL=4 670 runs 2 other monitors TOTAL=2 CRASH 680 runs 3 monitors in surround + 1 TOTAL=4 670 runs 2 other m…

  4. I get the sense the 600 series cards may not be the best for this situation but I don't really know. Bang for buck is important, however if performance when using dense clouds is affected by the GPU in higher CPU performance workstations then this is a definite characteristic of performance for me. My GTX 280 chokes significantly w/ some of the cloud sets in REX E+ when fully dense. Thanks in advance, Noel

Hello, I recently built a new pc and installed the GTX 660 Ti. I have the latest driver installed, but when I am in the sim the graphics begin to disappear. Im not even sure if it's the the gpu that is causing the problem. I tried the HIGHMEMFIX and the uiautomatiationcore.dll with no luck and I tweaked the fsx.cfg and that did nothing. I linked 2 screen shots to show you all what I am experiencing. This happens in any airport I got to and sometimes the screen goes black, but I can still hear the sound from the sim. Any solutions?

I'm slowly thinking up my next rig that I should build mid-next year. Have some of you tried multimonitors (2 or 3) in a portrait configuration instead of landscape so as to see both ahead of you throught the cockpit window and all the instruments at the same time ? What do you think  ?

Good afternoon folks, Im looking at 24" monitors, and have a few in mind, What am i looking for in terms of quality? Faster response time - (~lower ms) ? resolution (most 24" are 1920X1080) Brightness - is 200 cd/m2 better than say 250cd/m2? and contrast ratio, is 1000:1 a good figure i should be looking for? Hi All, I just upgraded from a 9800 pro to a GTX 560TI.I'm using XP 64 bit and did a clean custom install of the 306.81 drivers.Upon boot up windows says it has found an HD audio device on HD bus.I cancel out of this.(I did not install nvidias HD audio drivers due to hearing nightmare stories of unbootable systems with them)upon loading FS9....The progress bar appears.....never moves across the screen and then FS9 appears at the default starting point. All appears well until I try to enter menus.I can't get into any menus.Same thing in FSX except FSX locks up when you try to get into any menus.Anyone have any ideas on this? I have two TripleHead2Go Digital screen extenders configured throught the Matrox GXM utility. I'm running the Matrox units off of the two DVI outputs on my NVidia GTX480. FSX displays properly on one of the 3-monitor sets coming out of the graphics card. Using the Matrox utility you're supposed to be able to get FSX to display on all 6 monitors (ASUS 27" HDMI monitors). Matrox technical support checked my Matrox configuration and found it to be proper. However, they said that I needed to "combine" the two outputs from the card so that FSX would display on all 6 monitors. I cannot find any references to such a combined output. The said check with NVidia. Still n…

  10. My motherboard supports PCI Express 2.0. My CPU is an Intel Core2 Duo 3.0 GHz E8400. My OS is Windows XP 32 bit. My graphics card is an ASUS EAH4670 with 1 GB of DDR3 memory. Strictly for FSX with the PMDG 747-400x, is there any advantage in changing to an Nvidia GT650 with this older system?

Hey, I recently installed an MSI Twin Frozr III GTX 680 into my system. I also added more fans. I got my monitors to work with Surround after many problems with some screens going randomly blank. I booted up Flight Simulator X and tried a flight. In my FSX settings i set the resolution to 5760X1080 because this is the current NVIDIA Surround resolution. The flight loaded and I had a very enlarged, stretched, out of proportion, grainy Virtual Cockpit, outside, and 2D cockpit view. I tried other resolutions in FSX and it improved that issue but they still weren't perfect. What should I do in NVIDIA control panel What should I do in Windows Displays control panel…

Good evening, I'm rebuilding my sim, it's based on FS9 and I use a very good PC presently giving me good framerates 100s+. I want to design my sim with 4 monitors acting as my wind screen, the ones a the ends angled 45 degrees, and 2 monitors in front of me for the instruments. I have a 6970 video card that can accomodate a total of 6 monitors, can I create an eyefinity group with 4 monitors and the others seperate/independant? will I incur a big impact on framerates? is there a better solutions? Thanks

  15. I'm aware this forum is populated by multi-display over-clock enthusiasts, but I'm not in that far and use a more basic approach. My computer specs including my video card are in my My PC in the sidebar, but a summary is: Gateway FX6860 Gaming desktop with Intel I7 2600 @ 3.34 Ghz with 8 GB DDR3 and a ATI Radeon 6750 with 1 GB DDR5. My Dell display is a 22" that is matched for work in Photoshop, with max res of 1920 X 1080. I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium. I had a five year absence from flight sim due to work/career constraints but am now semi-retired. I fly mostly GA but VAs are in my past and I may add the PMDG NG 737 soon. I get good frame rates in the 30-4…

  16. Started by Kattz,

Recently purchased this display from another simmer. It's in great condition, but the touchscreen functionality will not work. System: Core i7 2600K overclocked to 4.6GHz, two Radeon 6850's, taken out of Crossfire mode so that I can run 2 separate monitors. Using latest update of Win7 x64 Pro. This monitor is supposed to send the touch signal back to the computer through the VGA cable. I am using a DVI-I Dual Link to VGA adapter at the video card because each card has 2 DVI-I Dual Link outputs and 2 HDMI outputs, but no DB15 VGA. Video is fine, just no touch function. Latest version of TouchKit driver is installed but it doesn't see the monitor. Any hel…

Is there any particular settings or drivers you guys with the same card are having good results with? What kind of perf. or quality gains should I expect? Thanks Stan

I'am going to get two more monitors for my Flight Sim setup to have a total of 3. I was wondering if it were possible to run 3 or 4 monitors with the Virtual Cockpit spanning across all of them at a high resolution not using a Matrox Triple Head2Go. Can Windows do this using NVIDIA Surround in a higher end GPU such as the GTX 680? Do you have to use a Matrox? I am also about to upgrade my system. I was wondering if it would be smarter to upgrade the GPU from a GTX 560Ti to something in the GTX 650Ti and up range. Or should I upgrade my processor, intel core i5-2500K to an i7? FSX can't use hyper threading, but would the i7 add extra processing power? Also, can F…

  19. At first I was suspicious that the extra mem in my new 670 with 4G RAM would not be used, but see below,x-plane 10 can go well beyond the regular 2G cards in no time. It soon climbed to 2482 MB (not shown). Using 3 monitors (2x1920x1200 and 1x1900x1080 the last one is for X-plnae on one monitor)

I posted this on the mobo, cpu, SSD section but since I had video card questions I thought I would repeat it here. Thank you. I have a PC I built to be my main computer of which FSX was a main consideration. I have decided to move to a MacBook Pro Retina to be my main computer to do all my surfing, photos, music, videos, etc. As such, I am going to dedicate my PC as a flight sim and hopefully, build a general aviation cockpit. Please take a look at my signature for current details. First, I thought I would upgrade my current SSD to a 256GB. My 120GB is full. I currently run 2 of the 560TI video cards in SLI so I can use 3 monitors. NVidia now has single c…

  22. Hi, I made the jump directly to a couple 690's in my setup so I'm not sure of the answer. I have a friend that asked a good question and I'm not sure of the answer. I'm learning toward telling him to get two 680 cards with 4GB memory (each) for a total of 8GB over one 690 with 4GB. My reason being he wants to run the Bufferpools tweak and send data directly to the GPU. What would be the better buy for P3D?. 1-GTX690 with 4GB or 2-GTX680 with 8GB

Ok, I just ordered a EVGA GeForce GTX 680 FTW+ 4GB card. I currently have two ATI 5870 1GB cards. So yes I am hoping for much better results when it comes to FSX (especially when there are lots of clouds about). My question to the community is the proper way for uninstalling the AMD drivers, taking out the old cards, putting in the one new one and then installing the nividia drivers? Should I already have a copy of the latest drivers on my hard drive to select it once the new card in onboard? Will the card auto-install drivers when I first fire up the computer? I have never done a swap from AMD to Nvidia before and I admit I am a noob when it comes to some of this har…

Will be setting up my new GTX 680 card tomorrow. I am transitioning from Ati. After installing the new card and then the 306.97 drivers do I then go right to nvidia inspector and setup per Kostas guide? With Ati they have there catalyst control center which you have to go to into that an select application control or set things manually. Does the nvidia driver package come with some default thing like this and if so what do I need to do with that before using nvidia inspector? Thanks Sent from my Samsung Galaxy Note 2

  25. Started by Mattdiem,

I want to run 3 monitors for main display and a 4th monitor for instruments. I've seen this mentioned many times, but usually in reference to some sort of problem, and I'm still not sure what way to go. I'm just now preparing to purchase the parts for a new computer, so I'm open to suggestion. I was going to get: 3770K oc'd Corsair H100i Asus Z877-V Pro Evga GTX 680 2G Running: FSX Gold w/ acceleration I know the gtx 680 will do 3 and the 4th monitor as an accessory screen, but not exactly sure what its limitations are. Can this be used in FSX for the gauges? If no, what would you suggest. A second video card? Some kind of splitter on one of the 680's outp…
