After years of putting up with my old 19" 4:3 screen, it's time to upgrade to something a little bigger and hopefully, a lot better for FSX. Can folk please tell me what specs and settings I need to look for, bearing in mind I know nothing about them. It wont be a huge monitor, as I don't have much room.

I have an obsolete NVIDIA GTS250 1 G and it is specified as having a bandwidth of 256 bit. When I study currently sold videocard I notice that it's only the more expensive card that has such high bandwidth as 256 bit. Many have only 128 bit but their clock frequencies are higher. Does anyone know why it is like this ? What conclusion can be made when comparing an old card with 256 bit BW and a new for example GTX650 with 128 bit BW ?

I just ordered Desktop Aviator's GPS Panel - 2450 which needs a second video source . I currently have a 580GTX running dual screens, which I don't want to give up. Would USB ->vga video adaptor have the power to run just the windowed GPS from FSX? Somewhere down the road I plan on getting a CDU (Opencockpits or FDS) that also requires a vga port so what would be an adequate secondary video card to purchase when this time comes? Thanks Kevin

I'm really helpless, I've tried to search the whole web but no success. When ever I try to run FSX on my 3 monitors either undocked or full screen the (center) POV switch to the right side. If I undock the screen to a smaller resolution it all centers up perfectly ! Please any help will be appreciated. I attached a screen shot how it looks when it goes to the right side of screen. Think that in normal view the plane is centered...

I'm thinking of either getting 3 x Asus PB278Q. Would an extra few inches justify the cost?

Hi Guys One thing I was not sure of, as I never really use NVidea cards at all, but threw one into my second identical rig, but I have 3 x 19" screens plugged into it, but it keeps doing this: Can the GTX670 actually cope with 3 x 19" screens via DVI or am I just pushing it too far running it in 4000 x 768 resolution? It will do this a lot and then when flying, it gets so bad all screens go black, and thats it. This is running the latest NVidea drivers too, but it still did it a little using the previous drivers. My ATI6990 runs 3 bigger screens at much higher resolution, and always seems to have the second GPU idle doing nothing, so I figured this c…

Hi everyone, its been a few years since I last dipped in to Msoft Flight, I last used 2004 edition. I have some spare kit at work & wanted to establish what the best graphic card option would be for a specific PC desktop detailed below. Ideally I would like to set up three monitors and I'm not sure what the best option is either based on the cards below or whether some newer kit will do the job. The PC itself has an Intel i5 CPU 2 core 3.3GHZ and I can install up to 8gb of mem & run Win 7 x64 or X32. Am I likely to get good performance out of this kit? I've got an HP 8100 Elite SFF desktop PC:- http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/document…

Hi all, After piling on more UKscenery2000 I thought I'd upgrade my GPU, which was an Asus 560, in the hopes of helping the sliders feeling more comfortable towards the right hand side. A certain online company which shall remain nameless for the moment recommended an EVGA 660 Overclocked. Bad idea!!! A huge mistake! I've never had a blue screen of death before, ever. Screen black outs and program freezes and a total of three blue screen of death to date and numerous CTD's Tried my Asus 550Ti from my old PC and all happy again! Anybody else been in trouble with this before? For an overclocked GPU the fan is pathetically small and at the rear of…

I'm thinking over some future upgrade options (not all that seriously, and I probably won't actually do an upgrade for a while ) I have an X-58 motherboard with 6gb of fairly fast memory, or at least it was when I bought it. Now I'm thinking about upgrading the graphics card. What if I get a card with 4 gb? Is this memory allocated on a need basis, or does it automatically reserve all 4 gb for the graphics? I'm worried that if I don't add more memory in, then the 4gb for the card will crowd everything else out including FSX. Is this fear unfounded? I would want this new graphics card to either support 3 monitors in surround mode or else one of those ones wit…

Hi all, this has probably already been covered, but as I'm still buzzing from the discovery I'll post it any way in case it helps somone else out. We bought a new TV so the old Samsung 32" LED was going spare. I hooked it up to my PC using an HDMI cable and it worked perfectly, except it never looked sharp enough. Well after some research I have found out that you have to go to "source" and then to the HDMI channel, select tools (all on remote) and rename the HDMI channel to PC (you do this by scrolling through a list) and voila! true HD 1920x1080 and crisp as fresh lettuce.

I've been promising myself to buy a new monitor for many times now, and everytime something came in between. Last time my drivers license, no money. But today my parents told me they will pay it for me, yay! :Big Grin: So... now I've got good money available for a new monitor! Previously it was gonna be an Asus 27 inch 1080p. But now I'm thinking about getting a 1440p/1600p monitor but I'm not sure whether it's going to be worth it, so I got a few questions for you. 1. Does 1440p cause any (significant) FPS drop over 1080p with a high-end NVIDIA card? 2. If it does, is it possible to run Windows 7 in 1440p and run FSX at 1080p? Or is that gonna look completely b…

Gents, In a thread on RSI discussing how to have multi-monitor support with different configurations, in games, it was concluded that NVIDIA and AMD are not likely to support it any time soon. It would be very useful to play a flight sim accross multiple monitors of different types in any configuration you wanted, but NVIDIA Surround and AMD Eyefinity force you to buy three of the exact same monitors that can only be used in a side-by-side configuration. However, a software company called Immersaview would be receptive to the idea of building a professional application for multi-monitor support of different types. We have to show a list of interested petitioners that …

I've run triple monitors with FSX in the past using a GTX680 and haven't had this issue before. Wondering if anyone has any ideas. Current setup for surround: 3x Asus VE258Q Monitors EVGA GTX 680 Classified Drivers: 310.70 Problem: Able to run FSX across all three monitors without a problem, but only in fullscreen. Running FSX in windowed mode, I cannot drag the window borders any larger than 1920x1080 (native resolution of each monitor) in order to expand the window across all three monitors. I'm able to drag the window from monitor to monitor with no problem. However, when I grab the borders of the window, I can enlarge it, but only up to 1920x1080 (maxi…

Hi all, I am looking to upgrade my current Nvidia 560 Ti to a triple monitor setup. I could either get an nvidia 670 or an equivalent ATi card. Which is easier to setup FSX, Eyeinfinity or Surround? I envision using a 3D cockpit with TrackIR.

Hello - I am quite confused about which resolution I should be running for the best image and FPS. I am running an EVGA Nvidia GTX 660 SuperClocked 2Gb GPU (will be adding a second GTX 660 SC next week SLI) and I am using a Vizio 42" Plasma 1080i for a display. Currently I believe my resolution is set at 1024x768 @ 60hz. Even though this is listed as a PC resolution and not HD I have it set to this is because everything fits the screen perfectly and looks good. When I have tried selecting 1920x1080 everything is too big to fit on the screen even though everything I read says to use 1920x1080. So, my question is which resolution should I be running? If I sh…

Hello simmers and simmerians! Taking the chance, I'd like to wish all of You the very best in 2013 year. I have come to a point, I have no USB ports left and decided to do something about it... I'd gladly get rid of Matrox TripleHead2Go (thus one current-hungry USB port) and take a chance with GTX680 but I need Your help regarding the choice... Currently I use Gigabyte Windforce GTX580 with 3x 27" (5760x1080@50Hz) and I am pretty satisfied with the frame counter except overcast (or better yet two OVC layers) - it goes down to 10-14 FPS which is too low for final. I use 4x SGSS which my PC can handle pretty good. Will I benefit with the GTX680 anyhow here?…

My PC specs can be seen in my profile. Considering my resolution (2560 x 1600) and the fact that I run very high AA and AF (32xS and 16x respectively), would having an SLI (GTX 680 4GB) improve the frames? I do see my frames drop to 15-20s if I fly through clouds in bad weather (I use REX and 4k textures).

I recently made a complete reinstallation of Windows 7 along with FS9 and all my addons and I'm now experiencing a very strange problem connected to the V-sync tweak (1/2 refresh rate). I had no problems at all before the reinstallation. What happens is that i have freezes and stutters when i chnage view direction in the 2D panel, and the FPS seems to be a bit unstable. All other views, including VC, is working fine. This is only happening when the V-sync tweak is applied. I have tried three different versions of Nvidia Inspector and a couple of different Nvidia Drivers. Does anyone know what is wrong?

I'm just looking at different possibilities for my cockpit, one of them is to use an array of displays, 1 for outside view and 3 for instruments. My questions are: 1- Can FSX handle it? 2- How hard the 3 extra screens will impact in my FPS? Thanks in advance.
