Video Hardware: Monitors | Multi-Monitors | Video Cards | Drivers etc

Guys, I have a Acer s273 HL 27 inch monitor and am looking to add another of the same model to it to run two screens. Will I be able to run one screen in VC with NGX and undock fmc, or OHP etc to the other screen? I have a GTX 580 will that do the job? If so what else will I need? Many thanks. Wayne.

Hi, Today I finally recieved my EVGA GeForce GTX 660Ti Superclocked. So far, I only got around to run the GPUMark provided by Dazz. Initial Impressions: Smoothness.... - Overall, the sim feels MUCH smoother in heavy clouds than it did with my 580 installed. Stutters are not nearly as prevalent in clouds... Stutters... - In regular flying conditions (VFR/Moderate Clouds) there are almost no stutters. This is by far the smoothest FSX experience I have ever had. I am sooooo glad someone brought this up....I have to use my laptop to view charts, and would like to use my main system to do so. I run FSX Accel in fullscreen mode with a HD6870 2gb XFX card and 3 monitors: a 55" Vizio VF550M for the VC, and 2ea HP2311x's for instruments such as the FMC and PFD/HSI (and ATC). I exclusively fly the 737NGX with FS2Crew Voice and GSX, and I get 25-30 average FPS on the ground, 30-50 in cruise, and approx. 20-25 at KSFO. :-) Any ideas on what would be a good second card to match my system? Any other things I should know to go after this solution? Thanks! Sean

Ive currently got an Asus P8Z68-V-pro motherboard, Intel I7 2600k and 8GB DDR3 Vengence memory. Im looking at purchasing a GPU to go with all this and work in harmony, As anything can be better from my original 5450 !!, So option's . Gigabyte GTX 660 OC 2GB, Saphire HD7850 OC 2GB, these are the main two im looking at currently, I like the idea of the saphire as it's nearly £40 cheaper but does that mean its a worse of card ??, Also what figure's are best too look for too run …

Take a look at my specs below. I am looking at OC my CPU to 3.6 or 8 after I get a better cooling fan so with that would the EVGA GeForce 650Ti GTX 2GB SSC Video Card be a better card than what I have. I want to be able to enjoy the FSX that has resided on my HDD for two years that I dont use because of the persistent slide show with the default aircraft, I cant run my LevelD 767 at all with out it hanging up. I want to be able to run the PMDG 777 that is coming out soon with some third party airport scenery's. So tell me would I see a great gain with the card and the OC? Thanks

Right now i am using EVGA 460 2WIN (twin 460's on same slot) for the pleasure of Nvidia surround. I just added a second video card GTX210 and altough windows extends to the monitor for this card, i am curious to know, does the second card require its own drivers? Thanks for the advice Steve

I have been trying to update my ATI drivers to the latest version available (version 8.970.100.3000) for my card HD4870 and followed this procedure: (1) deleted the old driver from the device manager (2) uninstalled all ATI software including the Catalyst with the ATI tool and Driver Cleaner, (3) rebooted, (4) installed the new Catalyst package with the driver, (5) rebooted and... was greeted by a black screen. I have managed to get decent performance out of P3D and FSX Dx10. Using the latter, I am still getting heavy drops during heavy clouds and precipitation. My current setup is this 2700k @ 4.8 GHz (One core is lazy,so won't go further without better cooling) Noctua DH14 8 GB Ram 2x GTX 580 3x Dell U2711 2560x1440 Win7 x64 I'm not going back to 1 monitor Running Dx10 and FSX I can see that the gpu spikes when in heavy clouds. I'm not using much AA either. The fps drops from 26-30 to 15-17. Back in Dx9 mode the gpu load drops significantly but it is all on the CPU. I suppose my options are: 1. Get more headroom buying 2x GTX 680 or GTX 690. 2. …

My screen resolution is 1920x1080x16. I have been running FSX at 1920x1050x32 in the FSX program. The question is this, should I continue on or run FSX @ 1920x1080x16? The sim seems to run fine as it is. However if I might damage something or get a better picture with the change, that is the 64 dollar question? RLJR

Multi monitor display does interest me but not till there is barely any annoying black bezel in the way. Are there any monitors out yet that have virtually no bezel? You would think they'd sell like hot cakes.

Why would Microsoft automatic updates install an nVidia driver without my permission? I did my usual check for updates for W7 and it listed 8 important updates that I need to install. I was watching as the updates were being downloaded and installed and to my surprise it installed nVidia driver 306.97 along with some security updates.. I know I have an older driver but why would Microsoft update assume that I needed to update my driver? Does anyone think this is unusual? I am going to do some flying to see what, if any, settings were changed without my knowledge and also make sure my FSX performance was not adversely affected. Airbus

Hi folks, Until recently I had an Nvidia GTX 580 card running dual monitors through a TripleHead2Go, but when I moved from Windows XP x64 to Windows 7 x64 I could not get them working at all well. My panels constantly flickered and the texture loading rate was incredibly slow, even after endless tweaking ang driver testing. I don't know whether it was the NV card or the TH2G that was causing the problems, but anyway I got fed up and bought an AMD HD 7970 card instead. As an additional advantage I can now use EyeFinity for my screens rather than the TH2G so that reduces the clutter a bit as well... ...only happens when I'm looking at "wing view" for more than 5 secs then switching back to VC. VC textures, including view of outside, seems to take a good 2-3 seconds to load and vice versa, when switching back to "wing view". any suggestions? mostly with payware planes. (Airbus X, NGX....)

Guys, I'm trying to solve this problem without success, to see in the figure that the top is normal Zoom in on my Eyefinity but what is below, see I can not even see the runway, already tried everything and zoom does not decrease, and 0.30 as is the default and only increases not decrease further. In normal mode on one monitor is right, but when I put in 3, is like this. If anyone can give a help to decrease as the field of view, thank you very much. Remember that in other games this does not happen then it can only be some setting in FSX.

Hi, quick question as i my self have no idea if this effects fsx in anyway but id like to know, does the size of your monitor make a diffrance ? how would they compare if someone was running a 32" and someone else a 37" this is a single screen set up at the min am looking for ways to get the best from fsx

hello, I 've used the guide available here. Even though I've selected the override "any application setting" for antialiasing, The fsx setting does have an impact on my graphics. I need to select antialiasing in fsx to have a correct rendition. Any idea? THX

Hi guys, First of all, I apologize for my bad English... I just installed fsx on my new notebook hp pavillon g6. In this computer I have 2 video card: -Intel HD Graphics 4000 (bad) -Radeon HD 7670M (good) but in the device-specific option ( in the drop-down menu) I can only select the Intel's card... :ohmy: why? can i fix it? Ciao, hope this is the right place where I can post my request... I have the tripplehead2go digital edition and I would like to use it on my 3 monitors... My question is.. when I open FS on the main monitor....how do I get the full immage on the 3 screens: 1) enlarge the FS window on clicking on the "square" on the high right corner of the window (nearby the "X" to close it..). or 2)with the mouse stretch the FS window untill it fills the right and left monitors? Ciao to all, I've just bought a new pc...the video card is a XFX Radeon HD 7970 3GB...the drivers are: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. 08/03/2012 8.951.0.0 Wneh I connect the second monitor out of the 2nd DVI output of the video card...It happens some times that I get wierd stripes on the screens, than the immages freezes than a w7 msg telling that the drivers have been "resetted"...and later a blue screen.... I added the error that w7 gives me after the blue screen....please help and suggestions... Thanx----
