  1. Started by Kattz,

I'm going to update these cards in the future but I applied some tweaks today per the advice at http://forum.avsim.n...ith-my-hd-6950/, except that I cranked my AA sampling up to 8X to get rid of the problem that I describe below. My menus in FSX, FS2Crew windows, and PFD/ND/EICAS displays (well, all displays and lights) look out of focus, or "fat and soft". Before, my whole cockpit looked soft. If I turn everthing back off and let FSX control the GPU settings, the cockpit looks ok (not great and nowhere as good as in the pics below), but the stutters and jaggies come back. With the ATI card handling the FSX settings, it runs fast and glitch free. In the pics below, …

So I have finally downloaded the ATI Catalyst Control Centre v13.1 software after being nagged by my current CCC, but havent installed it yet... Has anybody else installed v13.1 yet and if so, did you find any improvement or things stayed the same/got worse? Obviously NVidea card owners need not reply to this thread..

  3. I am installing a Gigabyte GTX 670 OC Edition card in my new build and I noticed that power adaptor cables that came with the card do not seem to match the color coding of the cables from my Seasonic power supply. The Seasonic power cables have 4 pins: Pin 1. yellow = 12V DC Pin 2. black = Gnd or common Pin 3. black = 2nd Gnd or common (presumably associated with the 5V DC) Pin 4. red = 5V DC The two graphic card adaptor cables only use 3 pins on each. The yellow and black wires/pins match with Pn 1 Pin 2 OK ,but the red wire is connected to Pin 3 which is the second black wire from the power supply. The fourth pin is lefty empty. Does anyone know if this wir…

hi I bought a new rig 4 months ago and i got massive problems in FSX and other games ( x plane ...), i got spikes and low FPS with DX9 so i was obligate to play with DX10. Yesterday i just realised that all of that was because i placed my gpu in a PCIE 16 2.0 slot whereas i have also 3.0 slot i just moved my gpu (gtx 660) to the 3.0 slot and... 30 FPS at paris CDG with NGX instead of 10 ! NO SPIKES, smooth and i am using 1/2 vsync which is limiting my FPS maybe i can get more !! well, i know people are not stupid as me but who knows, check your PCIE slot if you are experiencing weird problems with your new rig ! you should absolutely use the 3.0 if you …

Hi I run FSX in Windowed mode and using the Vsync Windowed Mode fix. I have noticed since using recent Nvidia drivers, currently 310.90 about 30 to 40% of the time FSX loads, my desktop behind the FSX window goes black. If I hover the mouse cursor over any of the decktop icons they become visible again, just in the small area around the icon. This is not causing any known problems to FSX its just annoying why it happens - any ideas ? Glen Windows 7 64bit, GTX680 2mb, 310.90 Nvidia driver, FSX SP2

I'm running 3 screens (5760 x 1080) in 2D Surround Spanning and have added a 4th display (for my Lower EICAS) using the DP (with VGA adapter). If I run in fullscreen mode (ALT, View, Fullscreen), the 4th display goes black. When I was running the GTX275's in SLI, with the same Nvidia driver, I was able to stretch my display across all three displays and stay in windowed mode, and keep my lower display active. If I try and resize my screen beyond the size of the center screen (1920 x 1080) it won't now. If I pull it over to be in beween two displays and hit the top right window box to maximize, it snaps to the center screen and maximizes to 1920 x 1080. I'm s…

I've seen something interesting while monitoring the temp of my video card. It idles higher (in the 40's) and peaks higher (in the 70's) than most online reviews and tests indicate. However, it's stable as a rock and the fan decreases to idle speed when the card is finished running a 3-d app. FSX doesn't even raise the fan speed by ten pct. So the card doesn't seem to be "thinking" that it's too hot. Can card temp sensors be thrown off by other equipment? My cpu runs very cool and the case puts out minimal heat. It's in a very well ventilated area. Just for kicks, I put a desk fan in front of the computer and opened up one of the drive bays to allow circulation…

  12. Found this article on Security Week. I suggest reading it if you aren't current on your nVidia drivers. http://www.securityweek.com/nvidia-releases-fix-dangerous-display-driver-exploit "Graphics card maker NVIDIA on Saturday quietly released a driver update (version 310.90) that fixes a recently-uncovered security vulnerability in the NVIDIA Display Driver service (nvvsvc.exe)."

I run a FSX rig with a GTX670 in surround with 3 monitors. Now, this may be normal, but the views in the "surround" monitors are blurry. It's like a perspective has been applied. Is this normal or can I do something about it? Many thx JJ

Hi all, I am thinking of upgrading my 22 inch Samsung display for a 27 inch one. Recently I tried the analyph 3d mode using the nvidia driver (I use the GTX660 video card). I was impressed by the result of depth but I do not think I can use it because I get very bad colors. There is a green hue everywhere, and the result is quite dull-boring and tedius. I used red-blue glasses from Ebay. So, I came along the dillema. Is it worth to pay the extra money for a 27 inch 3D display and use the polarizing glasses? First of all, can the polarized glasses be used in Prepar3D? ( I use P3D). Has anyone used the combination? Are the colors correct and what about fps loss? …

I have a 22" touchscreen that I would like to use as the FSX main display for the PFD and MFD. I would like to add a 32" LED as a forward view display. My question is which will give the best performance, a single GTX 660ti running both displays, or adding a second card ( which would be my old GTX460) and running each display from it's own card? Thanks for your help.

I'd like to solicit some advice (this is my first post on AVSIM!). I've got a rudimentary SIMPIT, and am considering some potential hardware upgrades. Below is a link to a youtube video showing my current setup: Here are the specs to my PC: Intel Core i7 930 OC’d to 4GHz ASUS P6X58D-E 12GB RAM (2GB x 6 in triple channel) PNY Geforce 9800 GT (x2) WIN 7 64-bit A few notes: - I have the option in FSX of running in DirectX 10 Preview Mode, but it won't work. Once I start the flight, my projector screens remain blank, and my primary monitor flashes with constantly maximizing/minimizing windows. Not sure why. - FSX will not run in compatibility…

Hi again! I hope I'm not too annoying by being persistent about my FS2004 texture problems. And I don't know if this should go here or in the hardware/graphics card section, so I'll enter both. My FS2004 runs generally well with my new Gigabyte Geforce GTX 650Ti card, but I can't seem to get rid of some sort of floating horizontal "watery" effect of the scenery; especially airports. Does this have to do with DXT settings, settings in the FS9.cfg file or to do with the video card? It is an ever so small detail effect sideways which creates the idea that the scenery is ever so slightly moving sideways. I thought I'd enclose a short video file ab…

Can anyone confirm or dispute this - I have Ansiotopic set in FSX but when I set Trilinear Optimization on in nVidia Inspector my plane textures are much improved. Also I'm using 8SQ SS and a quality setting in NI. Regards jja

  20. The title say it all. Using FSX. What are the recommended settings ? With single dsiplay I get over 30FPs using dense area like FSDT JFK + UT USA + Megascenery + PMDG 747X Streching it all around 3 monitors I get 12FPS... very poor... no weather... Any idea ?

  21. Started by GodAtum,

After a lot of playing around Jim had worked out that my FSX crashes are most likely caused by undocking windows to a 2nd monitor (see this thread http://forum.avsim.n...bout-error-log/). I am flying the PMDG 737NGX with medium FSX settings, UT2, AS2012 and ProATCX. I am running FSX in windowed mode. I guess there is a solution to the problem otherwise home cockpits wouldnt work!

Hi guys, During the last days I've been experiencing some strange FSX behaviour. Sometimes this happens immediately after loading a flight, sometimes when changing from windowed to full screen or the other way around and sometimes (actually almost never) all goes fine. Click for bigger pictures. FSInn wasn't even running when I took these pictures. Missing textures in VC (full screen) Even more missing textures (windowed) Not any textures at all... I'm using the ATI AMD IIx4 965 graphics card and Catalyst v13.1. OS is Windows 7 64 bit. This is the graphics section of my FSX.cfg: Does anyone have a clue? Best regards, Stefan

I have recently installed Windows 8, when the OS install process installed Intel chipset drivers 6.2.9200.16384. I have since installed DriverScanner, which is now reporting that Chipset driver 9.2.1016 is available. If I download and install this new Chipset driver, what else do I need to worry about- GPU drivers? Any changes to BIOS that I need address as a result of updating the Chipset drivers? Motherboard is a P8P67 ASUS. Thanks, Bruce.

Hi! I just changed my video card to a Gigabyte Geforce GTX 650Ti, which seems a very good card to run my FS2004. However, I get a sort of shimmering effect of the scenery/ground/buildings, etc. which I can't seem to get rid of. I tried a variety of video card settings, but the shimmering, water-floating effect remains. I don't recall any such visual effect with my previous cards, and my sim settings are the same as I used before I changed cards. I don't know where this entry should go, so I put it in both the FS2004 and Harware forums. Could anyone help or give advice? If so, that would be great. Thanks. Hans Hermansson Swede…
