I recently got the FSX tick and want to improve my experience. Currently I have the GTX 460 SC SE from EVGA and my fps are not amazing (could trying lowering AA some) and with the new Nvidia cards I thought I should upgrade. We all know FSX is CPU bound but I was wondering if getting the new 660ti would be good $/performance improvement would be a worthy upgrade. Right now I use the "usepools=0" tweak which I think with my cpu overclock is overpowering my graphics card because on occasion I see artifacts. I do play other games such as BF3 so obviously I would see an enormous improvement but I am more interested in the FSX improvement. What are you thoughts…

Hi All, I thought I posted this yesterday and if it's a double post I apologize. I am currently running a system with a Core i7 860 @ 3.6 GHz. I am considering building a new system within the next 6 months around an i5 3570 k. I will probably get an Nvidia based 660 Ti to replace my ancient 250 GTS. Will I see and improvement in the meantime if I use the card in my current system ? Thanks

For anyone in the market for a new monitor, I wanted to show something that is really incredible. Let's start with a pic: This is an IPS monitor with the panel quality of an Apple Cinema Display and Dell U2711 (same panel, just not A+) for not more than 300€. Technical specs: The monitor is a pure awesomeness. I don't know how else to describe it. Space encore, very easy on my eyes, since there is no AG-coating, it's VERY sharp. It's a glossy display, so make sure you have no window behind you. That's one downside. Another is the stand: it's bad as they can only get. Imagine basically a great picture with the crappiest plastic stand ever, it's w…

  5. Hi I'm helping my friend choose his parts for his new PC. It will mostly be used for SketchUp, but he'd also like it to play FSX on high/medium high settings. Will a GT 630 meet his requirement? He doesn't want to spend more than $80 on the GPU. The CPU will be an i5-3550.

Hi all. I have an ASUS P8P67-M motherboard and are probably about to buy a GTX580 GPU. Now I also need another GPU for 2D panels. Anyone have a setup like this and can recommend what 2nd GPU to buy that in your experience works flawless? Best Regards Bjarne Sorensen

  7. Hi! I am slowly getting more and more into FsX these days which is cool but am still amazingly using Intel integrated graphics on my Dell Vostro Core II Duo PC. Amazingly FsX runs ok but this is mainly becuase I don't use AI traffic or vehicles really and keep autogen off for airline flying. The only complaint I have is that ground textures can be blurry in the distance which no tweak seems to fix. I used to have a PCI Express budget card for a while and whilst I had more stutters I did have slightly higher fps and sharper scenery further out. Unfortunately there is no tweak tool at all for Intel onboard graphics and cfg tweaks like MipBias also don't seem to w…

I'm having a problem with nVidia drivers disabling aero. I'm not in love with aero, but when I try to start FSX, I get the warning that my video card (ev3a 580GTX) is not compaitable. Anyone have a fix for this or do I just stay at 301.24 forever? :( Problem: Aero not enabled with latest drivers on my system With new drivers, it appears to think I have a second monitor (i do not) as you can scroll the mouse off the right side of the screen System listed in specs (Summary: i7 2600k, 8GB RAM, GTX580) What I tried: Driver sweep then installing 301.42, restart (disabled aero, no FSX) Driver sweep then installation of beta 306, restart (no aero, no FSX) Driver…

Hi everyone, I'm sure someone here must have experience of what I'm thinking of doing. I have a pretty high end graphics setup (GTX580s) and need an extra card for purely 2D instrument output. Will outputting an undocked intrument view to a screen running on a very low end card like a GT520 in any way affect the performance of the 3D views on my high-end cards? thanks

  10. Hello, First of all I apologise for my bad english: it's not my mother language.... As said I just plug a new GeForce 670 on my motherboard: it's really noisy, the two fans are rotating at their maximum level, but only during the boot. As soon as it "reaches" the Windows seven logo it started to decrease. So not a big deal when playing / working with the computer, but I just wonder if that's normal, and if there is any trick or fix for that "problem"....owning previously a 560Ti...never heard such a sound when booting my PC or "working" in the Bios. Thanks for any help Cheers Cedric

Ok, recently got a new system and want to upgrade the video cards, but honestly the last time I was in the market was like 9 years ago. (Not totally noob q's but close enough.) System: Dell XPS 8300, i5 3ghz, 16gb ram, 1tb hd, 460W power. I am running Massive Scenery from an external drive if that matters. The video card is an AMD Radeo HD 6450. Says it's capable of running 3 monitors, I currently have two 19". 1st question - how much does running multiple monitors tax resources if the 3d view is kept on one screen? Basically, the main question is whether I should upgrade the card - I picked up an EVGA Geforce GTX 550ti today sort of while just browsing, b…

  12. While playingg FSX with Precision X running in the background, Precision's OSD shows that my GTX 680's GPU is running at 324MHz and GPU usage between 40-50%. Is this because FSX is not a GPU intensive game? My video card is an EVGA GTX 680 4GB and it's GPU base clock is advertised as 1019MHz with a boost clock of 1084MHz. It runs at between 1079-1084 in the Unigine Heaven benchmark. Is my GTX 680 running as it should in FSX or do I have defective card?

I currently use a TH2GO but am thinking about moving over to using nvidia surround using my two GTX580s. I know I will need a third GPU as on the 500 series you can't connect an accessory display to the same cards as the surround displays (you can on the 600 series). Can anyone tell me if, when running in surround mode on my 3 main monitors for the FSX virtual cockpit, I can undock a window (the CDU) and move it onto the screen on my Vrinsight CDUII? nvidia imply that the "accessory display" is only for non-3d applications, do does an undocked 2d window like the CDU count for this, even though it is being undocked from a 3D application? If this is possible, then p…

  14. I have decided to OC the 560Ti that I have from stock 830Ghz to 950Ghz which appears to be the most stable overclock before pushing it into the extreme ranges. I did a furmark test and things were OK, ran FSX and look fine although I did not notice any major change in framerates, maybe 2 to 4 fmp, not that I was expecting much. My main goal in doing this was to try and eliminate some stutters that I get once in a while, not micro stutters but more like 1 second pauses that are a bit annoying. Not sure if there is even a way to get rid of them completely in dense scenery with airport and aircraft addons. Any thoughts on this?btw, I did the overclock using MSI Afterbur…

Question, I,m wondering if I would see much benifit with upgrading to a 660 TI from a 550 TI ? FSX runs smooth except in large cities mainly because I have AI traffic with Ultimate traffic 2 and I like to fly with AI on. I would like to move all sliders to the right at present there 3/4 that way. I have tweaked my system with forum help ( Kostas guide) . Money is not a huge concern just want to fly as smooth as possible. System specs are in my profile. Thanks, Tom Davis

  16. Good day to all, I just got a new PC, and I want to tweak my display so I can get the most of my card. On my old PC I had NVidia card, so I am used to the Nvidia inspector tweak. How and what program can I use for my new card. I am running Win7 64 on a I5 3570K. I always referred to this site: http://www.simforums.com/forums/nhancer-settings-for-new-drivers-updated-v1932_topic36586.html So is there a similar one for ATI? Thanks in advance

  17. In FSX I can use Nvidia 3D vision in fullscreen and in Windowed mode. Today I installed P3D 1.4 and can only use 3D in fullscreen mode. I can remember that I was using FSX and P3D 1.2 beside each other and P3D was working ok in windowed screen mode. I need to fly in windowed mode because of the FSInn/FSCopilot screen in the upper corner while flying online with Vatsim. When using it in fullscreen mode my 3D mode fall back to standard 2D Please don't make the mistake with 2D cockpit and 3D virtual cockpit, that is not the issue. I am flying normally in stereo 3D with Nvidia 3D Vision and 3D shutterglass. Happy landings...

There are a lot of posts here (and on other FSX sites) claiming that nVidia is a far better graphic card for FSX than similar ATI/AMD offerings. Seeing as I play other sims/games as well, it isn't exactly practical to change to nVidia just for FSX (and doing so could hurt other sims/games I play). So I basically assumed that I had a second-class experience with FSX, due to my graphics card. This perception changed once I saw the benchmarks people were posting here using top-of-the-line nVidia cards. First, here are my system specs: Windows 7 x64 Intel i7 875K (Overclocked to 4.0GHz) 8GB RAM ASUS EAH 5850 Top DirectCU 1GB (Slight OC) ASUS Maximus III Formula MB…

Alrighty I'm having heck with my card. I have a GTX 670 setup per Kostas guide. I have horrible shimmer in cockpits and taxi lines etc. My aircraft are perfectly Jaggies free on the outside so AA is working but seems sgssaa isn't working properly. I've tried every setting in inspector I can think of with no effect. Any ideas?

Hello, After 3 1/2 years of running very well, I believe I'm having issues with my desktop (I built it) connecting to my monitor. I'm not sure what happened but my monitor will not recognize the desktop. I can hear windows booting up in the background but I'll get a no connection message on the monitor. At first I thought it something was wrong with the monitor but I hooked up my laptop to it and it displayed just fine. It's an older build and not sure if you need the info but this is my graphics card: ATI Radeon - HD4850-512mb Even though I built my computer, I'm not the the most tech savvy. Thanks for any information. It's killing me not to be able …

  21. Hello, I have an Radeon HD7870. Since Nvidia cards are a ton better for FSX than AMD/ATI, what nvidia card would my 7870 be equivalent to? Also, the only reason I got an ATI GPU was so I could use eyefinity. Is there a way to set up three monitors with Nvidia? Thanks

Hi all... I found 1 post regarding this, but it didn't quite include the answer I was looking for, so any suggestion on your part would be appreciated. My specs are below, and in addition I run a 750 Watt PSU and the MOBO is ASUS P8Z68-V - OC is stable. Basically my local hardware vendor offers Gainward, Gigabyte, ASUS and EVGA editions of the GTX 550ti cards, where ASUS and EVGA are priced around 5-10$ higher than Gainward and Gigabyte. So obviously the price is not the issue here. On the other hand, I can see from the product desciptions, that there are in fact different product specs on these cards, and being the total computer idiot that I am, I'm just…

  23. Hello, Just a quick question that has probably been asked before, can I extend surround vision across monitors of different size using an extansion module like triple head to go? I know you cant do it with nvidia surround as all the monitors must be exact. I'm thinking of using one 30" as the main then two 22" turned vertically on either side of it to expand the field of vision. Can this be done? Thanks Jim

TweakTown has gotten an R&D sample of the GTX 660 Ti due out shortly, looks like it's the new price to performance king of this generation, much like the GTX 560 Ti of last. If you're a simmer on a budget, this is probably the card for you. Note: this card is not yet for sale, and the price is not known. Expected to be somewhere in the $249-$349 range, with price drops from AMD to follow in order to realign their product stack to be more competitive.

  25. Hey all, i am looking at a new monitor to go with my new PC system in the signature section. Would the HP 2011x 20" LED-Backlit Monitor be a good choice? Ive been reading various threads about stuff like this here and i just cant get the right sure opinion to sway me to a decision...any helpers? I am not interested currently in 2 or 3 monitor setup. I wasnt aware that frames and performance could be affected by resolution!! The monitor im looking at is £100 which seems fairly good for its size...
