Hello everyone.I'm running FSX with 3 27" Dell monitors using Nvidia Surround at 7680x1440.The thing that annoys me is the "stretching" of the perspective on the outmost monitors. The center monitor is has correct perspective, but the two other is stretched. Is there some way to correct perspective on the outmost monitors ?

I've searched around for this, but found conflicting info. What I'm wanting to do, is leverage my two GTX580's and use Nvidia Surround for three new monitors, though I have not settled on a resolution. I would like to get 3 matching 1600x1200 monitors, but am aware that this is a fading aspect ratio. We'll see. I'm somewhat disturbed to read from Nvidia's site, that FSX doesn't support landscape mode (this can't be right), and doesn't support bezel management resolutions (this is the one I'm curious about). For those of you using Nvidia Surround, does the bezel management feature work with FSX OK? Has anyone tried FSX with Nvidia Surround in portrait mode...with bezel …

Guys, I am totally frustrated with my new PC's performance. See specs below. I love FSX and VATSIM flying. I wanted better performance so sprung for a new PC. I loaded FSX and fired it up and was dissapointed by the marginal improvement. My FPS (via ctrl z) went from 8-20 to 10-25. Not much better considering the expense. I tried the VSYNC FIX - Windowed Mode from this forum. No noticable change. So, after doing research I decided to add another ATI HD6850 CrossFire. Fired everything up and.. not much change. Redid the VSYNC FIX..no change. Average FPS is about 18. I've read tons of forum posts and other articles that have not helped with lots of…

I am looking at a new PC with possibly a GTX 680 for FSX to drive 3x24" monitors, each with a resolution of 1920x1200 or 1920x1080. Is the GTX card going to be able to handle such a task and provide visual fluidity even with the latest Sandy Bridge processor? If not, what kind of video setup should I be looking at? I mainly want to be able to fly PMDG jets on long flights with very high definition and fluidity. Scenery is of some interest to me, but I won't be cramming the box with ORBX stuff. I appreciate any posts, thanks. JS

Hello, I have used 3 monitor setups in the past and like the surround feel, but i found the height of the monitors, in my case 3-22inch monitors (1920x1080) to be to small. At 1080 the vertical resolution didn't allow for enough real estate to view out the front window and see the instrument cluster without constantly panning up and down. So my question is what is better value, a 3 monitor horizontal setup or one large 30" monitor at 2560x1600 resolution? thanks Jim

  7. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rduAoViiarw Found this on Ytube. Looks lifelike size wise. Three 24" monitors in portrait mode. For single seat prop or jet, maybe helicopters. It appears to display a nice realistic perspective. Monitors are cheap. For the handyman, remove the bezels. Just a thought to share.

Hi Did some tests with 680 vs 670 on same hardware. Run FSmark11 with rex and addons, and with kostas tweak Res was 1650x1050 and 5040x1050 nv surround. If you run fsx up to 2560x1440 and have à clock less than @4.9 SB , @4,7 IB. The diff was less than 0.5fps!!!!!!!! You only gain 2-3 fps at 5040x1050 with the [email protected] and 0,5 fps at 1680x1050 It was the same with IB @4.9 Its only à recomendation for you that thinking to uppgrade to 670 or 680 Buy à 670 if you have à normal clocked PC and Buy some good rams for the price diff And you have à faster one than with the 680. Cards i tested Evga 670 OC 4gb, Kfa2 680 OC 4gb Regards/ Hasse

  9. I have noticed recently that there are several of us, like Iceman2 and MaxTechGuyC, that are looking for the best performance of a multiple monitor FSX configuration where three of the monitors are of the 3D out-the-window scene and possibly another monitor for 2D instruments and such. The NV 680 is the first card to provide this in a single card (yes, I have used the Matrox TH2GO in the past but now I want to drive 3x1920x1080 at 60 hz or better) and it has tremendous performance - but still not necessarily enough for the most complex situations. I hope to stimulate others to try this amazing wrap around view configuration because if you already have the 680, adding two …

My goodness, how things have changed since I was here last (2007), even had to re register as my prior info had been deleted. It is nice to see some of the old faces/names still at it. Glad Nick N is still about helping folks. I Started MSFS when the first one came out, heh, still have the CD. Presently, using 2004/XP2 and FSX/W7. I cannot remember all of my system components but do know it is a Q6600 with a 460GTX and 4mb Memory. FSX runs quite nicely on this machine, no stutters or problems. My Monitor is a 10 year old 20" Dell FP and is starting to go away. Looking for a new Monitor 24" or larger. Looking for suggestions, I think $400.00 would be as much as…

  11. Good day, Here are my basic system specs Zoostorm Premium Desktop PC, Core i5-2400 3.1GHz, 8GB RAM, 1.5TB HDD, DVDRW, GF GTX550Ti, Windows 7 Home Premium As the topic header asks, will it be worth either, adding the 580 or just replacing the 550 with a 580? Or any other suggestions, NVIDIA only though. I play MS FSX with Aerosoft/Latin VFR and other scenery add-ons,using PMDG NGX, Aivla Soft EFB, REX, and GSX. I don't play any other games on my PC Thanks

Hi there, I'm currently running FSX from an ASUS P67 Sabertooth m/board and was womdering if you think I'd get better sound/audio output if I install a dedicated sound card. Ive done several searches and read many post on the subject of sound, but alas there appears to be many conflicting reports. So I was wondering if any of you guys had actually installed dedicated sound cards for FSX and what your opinions are before I purchase. Many Thanks for your support and guidance. John. p.s .........my specs are Windows 7/64bit, Sabertooth P67 m/b, i7 2600k chipset, 8mb vengence ram, Nvidia GTX590, Corsair AX 1200 p/s, water cooled.

  13. Here we go. The two set up's. A. Quad core CPU @ 3.6 GHZ running FSX using a single 3GB GTX 580 @ 2560 x 1400 for a single monitor, B, verses a Quad core CPU @ 3.6 GHZ running FSX using three GTX 580's for each monitor (3 monitors) @ 2560 x 1440. To run the extra monitors at that configuration, will it require more CPU grunt ? thus the adding of a card and monitor adding extra stress on the CPU = lower frames? Is the rendering of pixels a CPU agenda verses a GPU agenda? A bonus question. If it is CPU dependent, could a second or third computer be daisy chained to run the other monitors, thus fluid frame rates for FSX? Thus each monitor has it's own CPU and GPU. Extra bo…

I know at the end of the year new features will come out in relation to new mobo and processors. But before I start in a new configuration I would like to take the opportunity to replace my gtx 470 2.0 gb in the one I mentioned. Could someone give me an expanation what I can expect from an upgrade to gtx 570 or 670? my system runs very fine but a.s.a I fly in heavy weather or connect to a third server for MP than my system run into trouble. Alright, I just built a new computer, and overall I have been extremely satisfied. I went with the brand new Sapphire Radeon 7970, and it just blows games out of the water. However, FSX seems to be one of its shortcomings. It's not a matter of performance, but rather anti-aliasing. I can crank everything up on highest settings and get a smooth 40-45fps. The problem is anti-aliasing. I think it's working a little, but I see way too many jagged lines in and outside of the airplanes(Scenery looks fine). When I try to override anti-aliasing in the Catalyst Control Center and turn it off in FSX, I get a massive performance drop. I installed RadeonPro (sort of like nhancer), an…

SSd's are getting faster and cheaper with the improved technology. Will raiding 2 units be worth it speed wise? Since they are fast to begin with sata 3 allowing higher bandwidth, what say you? All replies welcomed, thank you.

Looking at a computer build to finally upgrade to FSX. Right now, I'm stuck at what HDD or SSD (or both) to get and what is the best way to set them up for performance. Right now, I am thinking of going with a Western Digital 500 GB HDD for the operating system and general FSX library storage, and a Crucial m4 128 GB SSD for FSX, aircraft, weather engine, and other add-ons that will need to be accessed during a flight. Is this a reasonable strategy? Are there other better recommendations? Is there any visible benefit to even having an SSD? Which HDD - too many caviar colors to know what is the best value. Black, Blue, or Green? Or would another manufacturer be be…

I'm hoping to start my new build soon. I'm currently researching video cards and I am leaning toward the GTX560 Ti. Seems to be a solid card for the money. My question is what should I look for as there are so many different GTX560's. How many cores? Should I go with a 1 MB card or a 2 MB card? What card manufacturer should I avoid? Todd

Hi, I know this is an age old question but here is my sitch. I am running heavy paywar like NGX with Orbx scenery, REX and 1024 clouds and during flights especially on approach and departure my video card fan sounds like a jet. Also with the Orbx stuff I am getting micro hitches and delayed scenery tile LOD increase at the same time. If I make a recording of GPU-z during these times this is occuring my GPU % is in the 90% area. I know FSX is mostly CPU but it seems in my case upgrading to a 560ti or something or even a 570 or 580 may make a huge difference. The reason I am reluctant to oc my processor more is that I am allready at 1.375 vcore and temps in prime 95…

Hi All, I haven't used FSX much in the last two years and am now just getting back into it. I'm running an Intel I7 860 OC to 3.6 Ghz and an EVGA 250 GTS. My monitor is a 27" running 1920 x 1200. Knowing that FSX is processor intensive would upgrading my graphics card to a 560Ti do anything for me? Thanks in advance.

Until this moring I used a Sapphire Radeon HD 7770. On the first DVI I had a TH2GO DE with 3 22" WS monitors. On the second DVI a 17" monitor. I used the 3 screens for the outside view and the 4th monitor for the instruments. Framerate appr. 17-19 on average. I decided to (finally) go for Nvidia and ordered an EVGA GTX670 which I picked up early in the afternoon. After coming home I removed the AMD card and installed the Nvidia one. I removed the AMD drivers and installed the drivers from the supplied CD (301.25). Before the switch I ran 3DMark Vantage and got a Pscore of 11804 (GPU 12726 and CPU 9696). I am still running on and old Q6600 processor at 2.76 GHz with 4 …

According to Palit's tech spec their Sonic Platinum GTX 570 uses 219 watts of power so a PSU providing 30 amps on the 12v rail should be more than adequate. However searching the web many suggest that a minimum of 38 amps is needed on the 12v rail. When I went to school, albeit a long time ago, 219 watts @12v = 18.25 amps, or has this now changed with inflation? I am talking about a single card not 2 in SLi mode. Advice appreciated please. Regards Phil
