Big Plasma as main monitor

I think that our biggest problem is the limitation of FSX, a Big Bulky old outdated piece of Software that doesn't keep up with technology ..... all you can do is work around a bit but that's about it (-:  .

So true. If FSX can have the graphic quality like battlefield or sth (I never played it, just watched youtube videos), what a heaven we'll be in. The more I play FSX, the more I feel sad about the unfortunate fate of FSX - it died right before we're having some truly revolutionary breakthroughs in terms of hardware like multicore CPU and these incredibly powerful modern GPUs, plus we now have 64bit win7 that could give FS11 as much RAM as it needs..

Very true indeed

For fsx, where is the display bottleneck? I was running a gtx460 quite happily with my 24in monitor. When The card died I upgraded my monitor to a 27in and bought a gtx650.

Performance has been horrendous! Graphics wise it is great, but the moment weather gets injected, my system grinds to a halt, using exactly the same settings I had with the gtx 460 and my old 24in monitor. I have set up Inspector to downgrade antialiasing, wound everything down, but still frame rates cripple me! Am even thinking of convincing the wife I need another card, maybe a GTX660 and see if that improves things, or should I upgrade my old i5 3470 instead?

If you have a very fast CPU, like 4.5GHz i5 or i7, then you need a very fast graphic card to run high levels of AA. I'm running GTX580 and I often times struggle with 16xS + 4xSGSS (of course I set almost all sliders to the max except for traffic). In carrier practice mission which has foggy and cloudy weather, I have to turn-off SGSS all together otherwise I can get below 15fps.

Word Not Allowed tested Titan and he found it's almost 50%-80% faster than a GTX580, at a price of $1000 though. Damn I shouldn't read his blog since now I'm getting obsessed with the idea of stretching to buy a Titan... totally ridiculous to shell out $1000 for a video card, but it runs FSX so much faster but $1000 is absolutely insane but I can turn on 8xSGSS but ...
