Hi, hoping someone can help me here. Just did a fresh format and reinstall of Win 7 64 and fresh install of FSX. I had this same issue with my last FSX, but quickly figured out how to fix, but that was a long time ago and I have forgotten what I need to do. Anyway at night, the night sky instead of being smooth has layers of color, you can actually see the horizontal lines in the sky that separate the colors. Also, default airport ground textures and clouds look multicolored and absolutely terrible. So far... I've calibrated my monitor and messed with the settings, I've made sure FSX and Windows are set to 32 bit, and I have inspector set up per tabs/nick n's sugg…

Hi all I was just wondering if I would get any framerate increase if I did any gpu tweaking. I've never bothered adjusting the gpu settings from the basic that it loads I currently have a GTX580 the GPU clock is 0782Mhz and the memory clock is showing 4008Mhz the slide bars for these are both much less than halfway to maximum so I have a lot of room to increase the settings, but would I see any improvement? Thanks for any advice as I have no idea what an increase would do to framerates or anything else. rgds

Hello I have some questions regarding the use of FSX in full screen mode with a Matrox TH card and two other monitors. (See photo 1) Photo 1 Far left: main tower PC Zalman machine assembled by PRENIUM PC (very good!), next COMPAQ laptop (PC2) and the extreme right an assembled PC (PC3): see below configuration) I am currently in windowed mode, but I'm a little disappointed by the performance of FSX (in terms of FPS: average 20, 18.5 if I give up SLI) due to the machine that I put behind .... but I read that the full screen mode is less demanding Switching to windowed mode make unusable screens 2 and 3 of the Matrox (see photo 2). In addition, the new display views …

I'm posting this here because the response I got on Fsdreamteams forum was absolutely no help. When I approach DFW, JFK, or LAX, after the airport "loads" off in the distance it appears vertically, like I'm flying into a picture of the airport. The answer I got from Umberto was that the scenery is installed correctly, it must be a video card setting or something. That wasn't much help. The only way I've found to get the airport to display correctly after it loads is to go to windowed mode. So is something messed up in my config file(attached)? Anybody experience this or have an idea?

Anyone else using a nVidia Surround three monitor set up and getting their rain cut off about one third in from the edge of their left and right screens. This happens in the VC, looking forward. If you pan around to about ninety degrees from straight ahead the problem goes away. The problem only happens when you get airborne. On the ground things are fine and you have the rain all around. It also happens with the external view but can be avoided by zooming in a bit. https://dl.dropbox.com/u/67669830/2012-8-3_22-15-52-375.jpg Thanks, gb.

So I've been having an issue with my card now for about a week. Its strange, one day everything was running perfectly, my sim was fine and I had no problems. Then I took a break for about a week and popped back onto my desktop (intel i7 4.5ghz, 8gb ram, 580gtx, h80 cooler) and i loaded up my sim and then the screen went black, at this point i was running 320.18, i rebooted my comp and then went it loaded again my screen froze once more but up came a message saying "nvidia driver had stopped responding but has recovered", at the time I didn't know what this meant but i did research, tried out some solutions and they seemed to have helped, i even increased the voltage by ab…

System Specs Dell 8400 3.2 GHz single core processor 3 GB RAM 2 GB nVidia 630 GT DDR3 memory As you can see I have an old system, but fairly new video card with 2GB memory.. Using GPU-Z I discovered FS9 was using 130MB. FSX was using about 300MB. I never expected FS to use anywhere near the card's capacity, but is there a way to get FS to use more video memory?

I've had TrackIR for a number of years now and really couldn't image flying without it - both in GA airplanes as well as in airliners. But on my system TrackIR 5 with TrackClip Pro works much much better in FS9 compared to FSX and I wonder if anyone has any comments. Specifically my problem relates to when looking on the overhead panel in airliners. In FS9 I have no problem scanning the whole overhead panel in planes like, iFly, PMDG MD11 or 747. But in FSX, when I look at the upper part of the overhead panel, the view goes berserk and showing eg the floor but upside down. I can not eg look at the IRS's in the PMDG737NGX without causing havoc. It works slightly better…

Hi guys, Sorry to ask such a dumb question, but I am considering doing the 3 monitor setup, and I know that my wife will not want to use all 3 monitors when in desktop mode (checking email, working in MS Word, checking Pinterest, internet, etc.). So my question is, how easy is it to switch between the massive screen back to using only the normal resolution on the center screen? Will I have to set everything up each time I want to fly, and then undo it all after each flight, or is there a more simple way to do it? Thanks! Paul

OK, that's a bit of crap topic title. The problem is best described thus..........I load a flight at night at an airport and I can see what I expect; it's pretty dark. But, if I use the hat switch to change my view to the left or right slightly, everything gets a bit brighter; the VC and the outside world. If I carry on panning to say the right, the view goes back to a bit darker.......carry on panning and it gets brighter again. This isn't a gradual change, it's like someone switching on a dim light. It's not airport related because I can see it during a flight, and it's not limited to night time either as I can see the effect happening in the day. It's not con…

Hi everyone, Thought this would be the best place to look for some help, hopefully someone far more in-the-know than I may be able to lend a hand! Just purchased a new laptop (ASUS UX51VZ), and had everything running up and nicely. Have hit a problem though, when updating the graphics card drivers (updated to 320.49), FSX will now no longer detect my GT 650M in the settings menu, instead only showing the onboard Intel 4000 graphics. I am an old hat at FS, but (by choice) not much of a hardware guy - I only pay attention every couple of years when I need to update! If anyone has any pointers or has come across a similar issue, please let me know. Many thank…

I've been thinking of upgrading my current card for a long time now. My current GTX 560 (Non-TI) is great, but I really wish I could run some games on max settings (which, with it, I can't). In addition, I can't fly in FSX with any kind of bad weather and maintain a good frame rate. I was looking at this card: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130932 Which is the SAME as this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130934 The only difference, EVGA says, is that the first one features ACX cooling, whatever that is. It's probably because it has 2 fans, while the other one only has 1. I don't plan on overclocking th…

Hello folks I'm wondering how you match up a CPU and a GPU. I'm running a 3770k @3.6mhg, and at the moment I'm using my old card a gtx 285 1gig mem. I see a few shimmers here and there but not all the time,?its a good card. I'm planning on getting a up to date card and I read the great hardware and software guide by Paul J. He made a statement saying that your vid card should be as hot as your CPU , I'm not fully understanding what he means. Are you saying that the speed of my CPU @ 4.6 that the GPU should be running at that speed. Can you give me a measurement of what you mean. Since I'm going out to get the best vid card that I can find I'm going to overclock…

Hi Everyone Well, I sunk my hard earned dollars into a nice Haswell proc and Asus Pro 87 MB, and a H110 cooler. Waiting on the Corsair case, power supply and the drives to arrive. Now, I am at a cross roads, need some solid advice as to how best to approach the goal I have. I am "space" limited - so what I intend on building is a simulator based on the 737 - I bought the TQS from ThrottleTek, and am about to pick up my FMC and MCP from Luchtvaart Hobby when I fly to AMS next month. My concept is similar to the one I picture from LH Training - run everything off of touch screen monitors. For now, I want to run the overhead, and PFDs and ECIAS on monitors (the o…

And this isn't an FSX problem per say. I took a screenshot in FSX. By changing the resolution down to 1600x900 in Windows, suddenly the screenshot looks like a normal FSX night (i.e. way too bright, terrain is clearly visible, horizon can be seen). Bring it up to 1920x1080 and the very same screen shot is pitch black again.

Hello Hopefully I have posted this in the right section, I am new to this site and still trying to find my way around.I have been enjoying FSX on my system for a little while and wanted to make the display look better by enabling Anti Aliasing in FSX directly. However when I check the option in the sim it results in the screen flashing black and white every 10 seconds. I run an pretty old Radeon 4870 512mb card. I have found that if i set the AA to be controlled by the CCC and not FSX the flashing stops, have any other users experienced this and if so do you know why this happens ? I have tried various drivers but have not had any luck. Many thank…

I'm already aware that when using 3 screens FSX stretches the sides. But on some videos that doesnt seems to be happening (eg http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Aro9lbUCFVE). Hpw do they get around it?

So just a quick simple one. You think it's worth moving up to a 1080P 27" from a 24" both at 60Hz? I have someone that wants to buy my monitor and I'm just wondering if it's worth it. Not considering the move up to a 1440P at this point.

When I examine these two alternatives one thing stand out. The new GTX760 has a bandwidth of 256 bit compared to 192 bit for the 660 serie otherwise they seem very similar. The GTX770 is a little more expensive. This leads to my question should I spend more money to get a GTX770 ? How important ios 256 bit bandwidth over 192 bit ? BTW My current GTX650 only has 128 bit.

I currently have 1 Dell 2913WM running at 2560x1080 and I am looking into possibly getting 2 more to have a wrap-around style setup. The resolution would be 7680x1050. I currently have a GTX670FTW (2GB memory), if I made a jump to this setup what would be my best option for video cards: 1) SLI with another GTX670 2) GTX780 3) SLI GTX780s 4) Titian I understand that FSX does not benefit from an SLI setup, but in this case, with a such a large resolution would SLI help?
