This is something I am not sure about... I will be overclocking my 8700K to same clock on all 6 cores but want FSX to operate on last three (HT off for FSX and on when I'm working) leaving the other 3 for everything else. I will set FSX default affinity for specific cores so I don't have to do it manually each time when I run it. Now, my question is regarding the affinity setting in CFG. Do I leave it stock (created by default) or should I tweak that number only for the 3 that FSX will be using? Also will FSX take into account when creating CFG values when HT is set to off or do I have to take this into account and set it manually as well? I never ran it w…

Hi all, To get the best out of P3D I have set my core 0 at 4.5 GHz , core at 4.3 GHz and the other ( terrain loading cores ) at 4.2 GHz . I need to have Turbo ratio set to on , otherwise I cannot set all cores at a diffrent speed. However , when using a cpu utility like Core Temp or Real Temp Core 0 and core 1 are both also running at 4.3 GHz. To check I loaded up P3D so Core 0 was 100% loaded. No 4.5 GHz , just 4.3 GHz. Did I do something wrong here ? Thanks,

I'm about to pull the trigger on an i7 8700 with an 11gb 1080ti mostly for P3D V4. Will a 27 or 28 inch 4K monitor at 3840X2160 kill my frame rates? Should I back down to a 2560X1440? Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated, as reading various reviews around the net is confusing me a bit. Lee

Have been using a Buttkicker Gamer 2 for quite some time and I think it adds a lot to the overall immersion. To actually feel the vibrations from the engines, how you deploy the spoilers, how you run over some pothole when taxiing, when touching down etc. First when I got the BKG2 it was rather quiet and the sound it produced was mostly the sound of the actual vibrations sent through my chair I have the BKG2 attached to. However some time ago it started making this rattling sound and I also found the vibrations to not be as good anymore as they used to be. I did some searching and found others reporting the same problem, that their BKG2 devices had started to make thi…

Hi, I have been looking into building a new flight sim rig coming from an old Sandy Bridge system and have been reading up about the enhanced multicore boost function that is controlled via the motherboard instead of using the Intel Turbo Boost found on Intel i7 "K" CPUs and have a few questions for those that have overclocked their Intel CPUs and their experience with this function. Is there a big benefit to running the motherboard-based multicore boost that allows you to clock all cores at the max Turbo CPU frequency (same multiplier applied to all cores) versus the Intel Turbo boost (which clocks the 1st core at max but the remaining cores at lower f…

Hello...can anyone recommend a reputable online gaming PC builder? I had a build all planned out on NewEgg but unfortunately didn't click buy fast enough. The 1080Ti cards went out of stock so I've missed my chance at the moment. This has me looking at gaming pc's that are built for me as it seems I can get the 1080Ti that way. I have no problem building my own PC but I don't want to wait forever for the 1080. So can I get a totally customize-able experience online and one that is going to be a solid build made up of the components I would normally have put together in my own build? Or am I better to just wait it out?

Folks, Please note there are several reports of Intel Broadwell / Haswell CPUs causing operating systems several systems reboots / blue screens after applying the Intel Microcode updates. This morning I received at work a communication from Dell with a warning as follow: *** Intel has communicated a potential issue with the microcode included in BIOS updates for the Intel 4th generation (Haswell) and Intel 5th generation (Broadwell) processors. This issue is currently under investigation by Intel and we will provide further updates as available. Refer to Intel’s Security Issue Update: Addressing Reboot Issues, for more information. On a separate commun…

So for backups I have been using a Thermaltake HDD caddy. I purchased a few 3TB HDDs on pop them in and out when needed. But I see Seagate has the large 8TB backups like this: https://www.amazon.com/Seagate-External-Desktop-Storage-STEL8000100/dp/B01HD6ZLQ6/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1515711331&sr=8-3&keywords=Seagate+8TB+Hard+disk For 8TB the price seems pretty good. At Xmas they were at $149! But had to snag a GeForce 1080 first, ha! So I was just curious if any simmers have purchased/used these monsters? If so, do you break them down into different partitions or leave them whole? Pros? Cons? "Must have more power! ooops, I mean more space!…

I have the CH Pro Throttle USB product. Here's my question: With FSUIPC and P3D, I have no problems. But, with DCS World (and I assume Elite Dangerous) the throttle doesn't reach 0. In other words, with the throttle pulled fully back the thrust is still > 0. Again, with FSUIPC this isn't a problem since I can calibrate the output. I've found that modifying the X slope in DCS kind of fixes this, but makes the throttle non-linear. I've had the urge to fly some military and will be buying the F-18 when it comes out. Tuning up my skills on the A-10 seems in order. Does anyone have experience with CH's Control Manger? The CH site describes this as a…

I was planning on doing a new build before i started flying with p3dv4, but due to the current intel chip fiasco I have been advised to hold of on doing the build until we know furthermore about the performance drop. On that note I wanted to make sure this build could still support p3d v4. I do not want to go through the aggravation of installing windows 10 and p3d just to find out the build is going to have a hard time with it. Thought this benchmark of my computer was interesting - http://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/6658059. I think benchmarks like this one provide good information to our membership as to components they should purchase if they plan on building a new system. Important Note: Anyone who intends to try running this benchmark on their system should make sure you disable any USB drives as it will get stuck near the end.

Hi! I just read some things about the revealed Intel design flaw and wondered if it will affect the performance of P3D in a noticeable manner? As far as I know it is about the caching of memory mapping for applications and the kernel. In my understanding this should tax programs with a lot of access to kernel functions (hd access, etc.). Hope we won't get an additional parking brake with the next patchday on Tuesday (estimated) Marc

I am looking to build new PC that will handle X plane 11 and P3D v4. Its been 2 years since I last filed using p3d v3, so I’m looking to jump back in. I am not familiar with building computers so I don’t know if I should end up buying a prebuilt computer or giving it a try and assembling the computer myself. I would like my budget to be $2k or less, I am looking for the best bang for my buck I can get. Also is overclocking a cpu a must as I have never done that before.

I have the following system:- Intel i7 2600K SandyBridge 3.4Ghz, Motherboard Gigabyte Z68X-UD4-B3, Seagate iTB Hard Disk, Memory Corsair8GB Vengeance 1600Mhz,. A few months ago I replaced the dying Graphics card with a Ge Force GTX1060 3Gb,and at the same time enhanced the memory further with 2X 4GB 1600Mhz DDR3 The weakness of the system is the processor/ motherboard, as I'm inclined to think the new graphics is rather bottlenecking the performance. I would prefer to stick with windows 7, as that is what FSX was developed for, rather than go to windows10. I would appreciate any knowledgeable advise on processor/motherboards that could make this achi…
