I'm not very computer literate that's why I'm here seeking the advice from people who know. I want this computer for both Microsoft Flight Simulator Steam and PREPARED . My price range between $1,500.-$2,000. I have a ton of add-ons to make it as real as it gets. I have a WD 1tb External Hard Drive that I also use. Thanks in advance.

So I decided to do some work on my PC, but when it comes to CPU I'm not sure how to consider the specs. It's about cores, threads, and GHz, but how do I weigh these against each other? I mostly use P3D v4, but might get into XP11 soon as well. I guess $700 would be my top limit. Thanks!

Hi--running P3Dv4.2 on W7 with an overclocked 6700k and a Titan Pascal. I use three 4k screens in surround, medium settings and get good framerates, but just OK framerates when running AS4 and ASCA with lots of clouds (also on medium settings). I was thinking of offloading AS4, ASCA and OPUS buttkicker to a refurbished gaming laptop as a client on an Ethernet network. Does anyone have any thoughts about the wisdom of doing this and/or suggestions on the minimum specs for the laptop? Thanks much.

Hi there, I'm running p3d 4.3 with an i2600k oc to 4.4 with decent temps and a gtx 970. I'm thinking about upgrading the mobo and cpu and video card but I might have to do cpu/mobo (interested in i8700k) and video card (gtx 1080, maybe 1080ti?)separately. So my questions: 1. better to do cpu/mobo first then card or vice-versa. I seem to read conflicting opinions on the forum about this. 2. will there be a significant / noticeable change going from 2600k to 8700k? 3. is it worthwhile to try delidding the i2600k and increase oc to maybe 4.7 / 4.8? (I'm currently using corsair H60 cooler) Re: waiting, it seems like the gtx next gen line keeps getting…

This is the build that I thought would make P3D V4 run smoothly with popular addons (ORBEX - PMDG - Aerosoft - REX etc.) . I'm still confused with the graphic engine but from what I read the GTX 1070 is doing well with many people. Your thoughts simmers. - MB: ASUS ROG MAXIMUS X Hero (https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813119032) - CPU: Intel Core i7-8700K Coffee Lake 6-Core 3.7 GHz (https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819117827) - SSD: WD Blue 3D NAND 1TB PC SSD (https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820250092) - Cooling: Corsair Hydro Series H100i V2 Extreme (https://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ…

Hi everyone. In next days i will build up a new pc for P3D v4. I've a budget of 900euros. I chose a I5 8500 from intel, a gtx 1060 6gb 16gb ram ddr4 an ssd of 250gb and hdd 1tb. I run P3D always with the graphic settings set to mid-high and i use payware scenery and aircraft. I know that for P3D the CPU is very important, Can you tell me if the i5 8500 of 3GHZ is a good choise for fly around 30fps? If no can you advise me any other good cpu for run p3d v4? Thank you in advance!

Just thought I would throw this out for feedback. You may have to jog your memory on this, ha! Have an Asus Sabertooth P67 motherboard (with an i7-2600k CPU), that after seven years or so may be starting to fail. So as a backup I bought an Asus P8Z68-V Pro/Gen 3 mb (actually found one new/factory sealed). Understand it has PCIe 3.0 on board but cannot utilize as I have a Sandy Bridge cpu. So for those who maybe went through this years ago or are really into hardware... do it think it is better to have my OC 2600k (I can reach 4.8GHz on air) and stay with PCIe 2.0 using my EVGA Geforce 1080 SC, or replace my Sandy Bridge with an Ivy Bridge PCIe 3.0 capable), …

I am currently in the middle of rebuilding my FSX system and not very computer inclined my old system crashed 4 years ago and just now getting around to building a new one. Im sure there has been much improvement with the tech since then .... I have all the payware that one would like to not have to purchase again $$$$$$$$$$ 😞 . I have started with the following parts and need assistance on which OPSYS is best to run for Windows?(old system was wn7) Is it possible to transfer the payware saved on my external from my crashed pc to the new pc, or will I have an IP address issue? Also I see screen shots from various payware on FB and wonder how the back ground and scenery l…

Hello everyone, I am a pretty big noob when it comes to pc hardware. I wanted to upgrade to a SSD but I have no idea which one is best used w/ my Fx8350 8core AMD mobo (4gz-4.3gz). I was thinking of getting the NVMe ones, but apparently they aren't compatible w/ my AMD mobo. So I'm not sure what to do, was thinking of the HyperX gaming one. but i guess AMD doesnt support m.2. I would like the best bang for my buck, and willing to spend around 220ish for a 500g one. Other Specs: 1060 Gtx Graphics 16gb Ram 750 crosair PSU 1 TB HDD,

I'm interested in upgrading to this CPU, and I'm a bit unsure about what MB to choose. The one option I have looked at is the ASUS ROG Strix Z370-E Gaming. It has gotten decent reviews at the site I'm buying from, but there might be better options out there for about the same cost? The MB I currently have is quite limited when it comes to overclocking, so I want one that has less limitations in that area. And finally ram. Would 2666 MHz be sufficient, or do I need to go higher?

Hello all, Here's a small challenge for you: I need a new desktop for P3D/General gaming and I have a budget of $4000 Australian Dollars, I have a vague idea of what I could pull together however I want to hear your professional opinions so that I can spend as effectively as possible. The rules: All purchases must be from Australian sources w/ local warranty. Must include monitor (preferably in the 27" range and min. WQHD) Only 1 primary OS storage will be required as I have SATA3 HDDs for bulk storage already Keyboard/Mouse not required Sound card not required, onboard audio sufficient Fairly discrete case, don't need a light…

Hi, I have an ASUS Z370MB, 8700K CPU with an AIO water cooler. I have configured manual overclocking in the BIOS, and Ive been able to overclock to 5.1GHZ on all cores (setting each individually, and not synced), and under load my temps are 55 degs @ 1.37V. P3D would seem to benefit from as higher clock rate on core 0 as possible. As I currently have very stable temps at relatively low V with my current overclock, I was hoping that I might be able to bump up the clock rate on core 0 to something like 5.3GHz. I have set the clock rate on core 0 to 5.3 in the BIOS, with the remaining cores at 5.1, however I'm not sure that W10 is actually running with a …

For those of you wishing to make use of MCE (Multi Core Enhancement) on Asus boards. Switching it on when you set your AVX profile, via the pop up box, wont work. Switching it on manually wont work either as the on option is no longer available, it's auto or disabled. It seems that with all the fuss over MCE being on by default in reviews, Asus have set it to off. If you wish to enable MCE now, you have to change per core to sync all cores. When you do so, all cores will run at the max Intel Turbo frequency.

Hi community, i have experienced some performance issues the last days. Maybe you can give me a hint or two if those are real issues or just fine. I did a complete system reset last week (got the new Samsung 970 Evo M.2). After that I installed P3D v4.2, checked if everything runs smooth, no issues there. Installed ORBX stuff - checked again. ActiveSky + ASCA + Envtex + Envshade -> everything looks good so far. Last but not least I installed the PMDG and QW stuff - so fine so good. After a few hours of flying I started to tweak my settings, just as they were pre system reset. The point is - now the frames are worse? The only things I have changed are t…

I used my mic last night. It's attached to my sennheiser headset. It's just the regular 3.5mm jack. Tonite I went to fly on pilot edge and all they could hear was a ambient static or something. I reinstalled my mobo drivers and I can at least hear myself now. I use Windows sound recorder and playback the recordings. But the playback volume is super super low. Even if I turned on +10dB boost it's still difficult to hear with the reciever volume up. I haven't changed anything from last night to tonite other than a driver reinstall. Any thoughts?

Just noticed on task manger WIN10 64 Z370 GaminPlus MB with I8700K OC @ 4.9 while HT on, CPU speed is bouncing up and down between 4.88 and 4.60. Same settings but HT off (no other change) speed is constant at 4.88 and P3Dv4.2 is smooth. I don't understand what is creating this issue having in view that the only change is HT from ON to OFF. This CPU variation on speed is creating stutters in P3Dv4.2. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi there everyone, I hope this post is in the right section, although I couldn't find another one which better fit the topic of my question! I am running P3D 4.2 on an Intel Core i7 4790k CPU (Not Overclocked), 16GB of RAM and an Nvidia GeForce GTX 980 GPU (Not Overclocked). All of this is based from Windows 10 Pro 64-bit, with a dedicated SSD for my OS, a Separate SSD for P3D, and a Hybrid drive for my DATA etc... I am considering an upgrade to get better performance from P3D, which runs quite well already, however I do want to get more performance at night with dynamic lighting and Anti-Aliasing etc... Now common sense, al…

Hello, I'm looking to get a laptop for FSX or P3D, can anyone recommend a good laptop to run FSX or P3D with addons such as the 737NGX, PMDG777, Aerosoft Airbus X, Orbx Global, Open LC Europe and other payware airport sceneries at 25+ FPS for under £1000. Thanks

I bought a Power Spec PC last September from Micro Center in Denver and it was supposed to have 32GB of G Skill DDR4-3200MHz installed. The specs below are from their website. I just recently looked into the BIOS for the first time and saw that the G. Skill RAM installed was actually 2133MHz. How big a deal is that? The only problems I'm having with FSX-SE is massive pauses and stutters around FS Dream Team airports(and that's using default AC). I even get minor stutters and pauses elsewhere. Would the faster RAM alleviate some of those? Thanks! Bruce PowerSpec X508 Desktop Computer - $2,499.99 Cooler Master MasterCase 5 Pro chassis …

Rumour has it that the first Intel CPU to hit 5 GHz might soon be with us. it might be available later this year. Bear in mind lads though, this is the max turbo frequency, so it will Turbo to 5 GHz on one core, and somewhat less on the other cores. That's how Turbo works. Don't assume it will be 5 GHz on all cores because it won't. Switch on MCE and it would be 5 GHz on all cores. Good news is that it is obviously a cherry picked, binned, CPU, so will probably have more overclocking headroom than the 8700K it's based on. Anybody about to build a new rig, and doesn't mind waiting a few months, might want to hold on a while. As long as the rumours…

I have an old 2006 Desktop PC laying around and was wondering if I can use it to run my third party flight sim apps such as: PFPX, Active Sky, Pro-ATCX, Rex Skyforce, etc. But I notice even PFPX requires at least 1GB ram and I only have 512MB. Also it requires an OpenGL 1.1 or higher Compatible video card. Not sure if it will even work. What do you guys think? Will I be able to run most of these 3rd party apps on it or is it simply too old? I was hoping I can put it to good use. If so, I plan to wipe it out clean and install Windows 7 32bit, because I don't think 64-bit is possible on this machine. Here are the specs: CPU: Intel® Pentium® 4 Processor 5…

Hello to all! I'm using MSI GS65(8750H@~4.1GHz+ and GTX1070 MAX-Q) for playing P3D v4.2(1920*1080, 4096*4096 Texture w/ 16x anisotropic filtering + 8x SSAA, NO Mipmap+FXAA, everything else is default setting). I'm getting 40~60fps(avg. 45~55) with PMDG 777. Although 8750H is 6-core(12-thread), P3Dv4 always utilizes 100% in #0 thread and low % in other threads. GPU usage always reaches ~100%. This is probably due to the nature of how P3D utilizes the multicore CPU. Most of code runs on the first single core, and other jobs like texture loading runs in parallel cores, which isn't too much of problem, I guess. I have run some test. If I get the AA…
