Hi All, I am in super-duper desperate need of a new system. Dell’s Outlet early Black Friday sales didn’t disappoint with 31% off list price for the below “Sick” system. I am considering doing a new system but am presently weighing my options. I presently have a 6850K @ 4.2 GHz 1080 GTX and am using it to run an HTC Vive. I am considering getting the RTX 2080 Ti, HTC Vive Pro and either 9900K or the 8086K. I am not in a rush. My system runs decent with locked frames at 30 and able to maintain that in all but the most difficult areas. In those areas it dips down to 20. I am using Fly Inside so though my simulator is operating at 30 FPS my video output is running at 90 FPS which makes for a smooth experience. What I am hoping to accomplish is to bolster the FPS in the difficult areas and be able to add in more dynamic light…

Much as I enjoy having all the internal real estate, my current PC case is just ridicidudilously too big. It's the Corsair 780T Full Tower. That in itself, wouldn't be too bad, if it at least offered some of the modern options, like having the option of installing a dual system. I live in a tiny cottage, half of which is taken up with computers and equipment - something needs to give:-) I'm looking for something a little more compact, but still able to take a full custom loop. Much as I'd love the Phanteks Elite, £850 is waaaaaaay past my budget:-( If anyone has any ideas or recommendations, I'd be grateful. If you're running a custom loop, or have r…

Well.. Who would've thought. After so many years I can finally (finally) say that I have found a CPU that has tamed P3D 4.3 I just purchased the Intel 8086K and managed to Overclock this guy to 5.3Ghz, along with 16Gb of RAM at 4266 Mhz. This along with an Nvidia 2070 card (will be getting an 11Gb soon). I will tell you, now I can fly my sim with any settings I choose and frames remain constant at 29-30 ... smooth, and clean! Sounds too good to be true but it actually is. I managed this with Hyperthreading Off. I actually took it all the way to 5.4Ghz but will not hold for more than 5 minutes and BSOD. No worries, I am indeed a very happy simmer.

Hi all, I want to share with you some findings and concerns that I have recently. I have a 7700K and my primary goal was to have it run at around 5.00 Ghz, or at maximum frequency/stability. I have delidded my CPU and have seen the temperature benefits. My setup has run like that for around 1.5 years. Last week, I ordered Aerosoft's EDDK and experienced an amazing stuttering situtation when fully loaded at the gate. At first I thought the developer was to blame for not optimizing the scenery, but soon after I realized that a BIOS settings modification solved my problems and the performance was smooth and nice. What was it? I reset my BIOS settings to stock, enabling …

I'm hoping someone out here could help me out. I'm building a new flight sim PC. To date, we have not had a family office PC, so the old one was going to be retired to the office. It's currently in a larger mid-tower case and looks more like a gaming tower than family/public room appearance. I'll be removing the overclock, as it's not needed at all for an office PC. That means my Noctua cooler could stay or go if needed for a new case. I am planning to keep my GTX 1070 card, so that'll need to fit. The old build is a 4790k LGA 1150 socket. I'm hoping to find as small a case as possible to fit this stuff, and one that looks less gaming and more clean office PC…

My 8086k CPU is supposed arrive tomorrow to complete my new build. It is almost exclusively used for P3D v4 and DCS World. P3D is well known as not a huge multicore user, and DCS I believe is better, but not much. I will overclock, but also don't want to overly stress the CPU or have sky high temps. Is there more value in overclocking only one or two cores to a 5.2-5.3 GHz (that would be trivially easy probably) and use an affinity mask to assign P3D to an overclocked core? Or would it be better to overclock all cores, but possibly accept a lower overclock in the 5.0-5.1 GHz range? I am running a water cooler and should ya e fairly good temp control I app…

Can someone please clarify: I read every now and then "if you go 4K, you will not need AA". Technically speaking, 4K is just a specific resolution. I think the term 4K is being thrown a bit too loosely around here, and way better term would be PPI. Higher PPI would mean "better AA" at the same screen size. However: doubling your pixels with the monitor (by going from 1920 -> 3840) you are basically doing the same thing as running SGSS with Nvidia Inspector at 2x. Also the same as DSR Factor 2.0. Same as 2x SS in P3D. And if I technically understand it correctly, all 4 should yield the same picture quality in terms of AA in the simulator. And should …

Hi. Which purchase will give me the most improvement in FPS? I am running P3Dv4 on a two-screen i5-4690K (default 3.5GHz) with a GTX 760. I average around 20 FPS with the F1 Cessna Mustang (a bit higher with other aircraft) and Orbx regional scenery. Thanks - Dave

I need to add some more space, primarily to store by Orbx folder. I am looking at a 1TB external SSD. I can see a Samsung 860 EVO for $245 (AUD), or for an extra $155 I can get a Samsung T5. Just wondering if anyone can shed any light on what I will get for the extra money, is it worth it, and whether anyone is successfully using a Samsung 860 for the their flight sim. cheers Ian

I'm putting together the components for a new PC that will be built professionally as I'm not familiar with overclocking and want a warranty for what is an expensive bit of kit. Hello, Currently my system is an i5-4430 with GTX 1050ti and 8GB 1600mHZ RAM. For Christmas I am thinking about upgrading to an i7-4790k and over locking it to at least 4.3gHZ. Do you guys think that this upgrade will allow my FSX to get better FPS? Currently I am getting 18-20 in the QW 787. I hope to improve that a decent amount. Any help would be appreciated. Cub Meyer

Hi Guys I installed a custom water loop in my PC about a year ago, using just flexible soft tubing. It was easy enough, even for a first timer like me:-) I've decided to have a go with rigid tubing, just for aesthetics and fun. My question.... Although I much prefer the small format of the 'push-in' fittings, should I opt for compression fittings? Would they be 'safer' for a novice?

I am running Prepar3D V4 with PMDG 737,777, Active Sky, and orbx scenery on Windows 10. I have a SSD250G and a 1,8T Hard drive. The SSD is drive C so all programs default installation to that drive unless you specify to install on D which is the hard drive. My problem is as I've added scenery to my orbx software I'm now running low on memory on the SSD. Is there a way to transfer my programs over to the hard drive without totally deleting them and reinstalling them? Thanks John Swanson

Hi, I bought mi i5-8600k in Italy at 90€ (thanks amazon) and I think I can upgrade it. So, which would be the best cpu for playing p3d, pmdg 777, some sceneries (aerosoft, orbx) with mid high settings and without big stutters (for example 1/2 “small” stutters in a long flight are acceptable).

My main PC is always pretty heavily overclocked and is left running for about 16hrs a day. Its currently an Asus Z-170 Deluxe with a delidded i7 7700k running at 5.2GHz when under load, using 'Adaptive Voltage'. When at idle, the CPU drops to an astonishing low of about 775MHz at a small fraction of a volt. For a long time, I've held the belief (perhaps mistakenly???), that while the CPU is not under load, then ramping it way down with 'Adaptive Voltage' was much better for the chip in the long run (I'm not interested in power saving - just longevity of parts). HOWEVER... I've recently seen it suggested that this is simply not necessary as, without 'Adaptive Vo…
