I have come across RAM "T-topology" on Gigabyte Z390 Aorus boards. Q) What difference does this make to the selection of RAM? For a 32GB 3200MHz kit would I be better off with 2x16 or 4x8? Q) What about other Z390 manufacturers? Q) Is T-topology chipset specific?

Hi all, I was wondering, if any of you guys have a clou, what the problem could be. As you see, I got modest FPS on my system, but no CPU core nor the GPU are nearly at its full capacity. Could there be another issue I'm not seeing? At least one should be at its limit, or is this a normal picture? I honestly have expected more than this. Thanks for any advise...

https://techreport.com/review/34319/intel-talks-about-its-architectural-vision-for-the-future/2 Intel is finally focusing on increasing single thread performance once again. I expect to see performance increases of AT LEAST 25% across the board as a result of these architectural changes. It may require a code re-compile, but not a re-write. And that's a very important distinction, a re-compile is trivial where a re-write may not be.

Intended use: 1440p VR DCS2.5 X-Plane11 So I decided to go for an Intel rather than a Ryzen build mainly because of the lack of 32GB DDR4 kit support X470 boards and higher Intel clock speeds. Among my current PC problems, is a large amount of data loss (my entire ‘Pictures’ folder containing a life time’s worth of pics! I reformatted an M.2 Sata drive (Samsung 850 EVO), knowing I had backups of all its data. Ha! The backup was on a WD 2Tb HDD which, when plugged in, reports a ‘SMART’ failure and refuses to give up any of its data. I’ve now tried no less than SEVEN free ‘data recovery’ programs, none of which have found more than just an old system folder with nothing in it. Is even worth trying to continue? Lots of research suggests the data is still present, as I’ve not used the drive for anything else, and it was only a ‘quick format’. What…

Anyone know anything about good old fashioned hard drives? Why for example, might the Toshiba 2TB 3.5" 7200rpm with 64mb cache be half the price of the Western Digital Black of the same spec? https://www.scan.co.uk/products/2tb-toshiba-p300-7200rpm-35-sata-iii-60-gb-s-64mb-cache-417ms-oem https://www.scan.co.uk/products/2tb-wd2003fzex-black-performance-35-hdd-sata-iii-6gb-s-7200rpm-64mb-cache Its actually a WD Black that's just let me down after about 6 years.

  8. Hi guys, hopefully someone could lend some advice. I recently returned my Corsair H100i GTX and replaced it with the Corsair H100i RGB Platinum. I installed the cooler as per the manual, replacing the old backplate and standoff with the newer ones. I tightened the cooler to 'hand tightness', plugged the cords in etc. and upon starting my computer, I received an error 55 code (Motherboard is Asus Maximus Viii Hero) which means no memory installed. I am using "Corsair Vengeance LED CMU16GX4M2C3200C16 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4" RAM. I had it installed in the A2 B2 DIMM slots as recommended. I changed them to the A1 B1 slots and the system posted but only detected 8GB of ram and…

Hello gents, Thought I would ask this question here as this has been bothering me for a few weeks. I have an Intel 8086K overclocked on all cores @ 5.3Ghz. The problem is that under load (P3D), the third core gets around 18 degrees hotter than the other 5- always. Why is this, and what can I do to resolve or fix this issue?

  10. Hello Everyone, I'm aware there are various threads discussing whether or not it would be worthwhile upgrading a 2nd Gen i7 2600k to the latest tech, in order to take full advantage of what P3D has to offer. I'm currently sitting with an i7 2600k @ 4.5, GTX 970 and 8Gb of 1600MHz DDR3. I use P3D V4 but ONLY at 1080p resolution and have no intention of moving to 1440p or 4K. It handles most situations well but the FSLabs Airbus for example has it on it's knees - on fairly medium settings. I look only for a smooth experience and thus not so concerned with 'figures' and 'frames'. I do, however, use all off the typical frame hogs, such as ORBX, AS16/SkyForce 3D, PMD…

Hi all, I just ordered an I7 9700k and I’m hoping to OC to 5ghz. I presently have a Noctua NH D14 cooling my 6700k at 4.7 with zero issues at all. Ambient is pretty cool for most of the year. My question. Is the D14 sufficent? Or should I get a D15S. Also, any recommendations for thermal compound? Thanks

I am considering doing a rebuild this year. My last couple builds have been ASUS and I presently have an x99 TUF Ultimate Force MB paired with a 6850K @ 4.1 GHz and it has served me well. I do not plan to aggressively overclock it (4.9-5.0 across all cores) and plan to use my existing Noctua NH-15S for cooling. I plan to have 2-3 SSD drives (1-2 existing 500MB and an additional 1T-2T drive....all SATA). I am considering going with the TUF Z390-Plus Gaming. Is there any tangible benefit or detriment to using this in lieu of one of the ROG boards. The main thing I noticed in my existing board is that my existing board does not use a software overclock in its A…

  16. I was wondering about buying a new laptop, but I found out I can easily change some important component that I bet should help my slow sluggish FSX installation (with a great video on youtube from MSI on how to do it) I own this: My laptot ( no SSD, 8GB ram) So I was thinking about changing for 16GB or even 32GB if possible and installing an SSD as well to install FSX. If I do so, what kind of improvement will I see ? Only loading speed ? Or graphics as well ? I can't change the graphic card and not sure for the other components. I'm using ORBX base product like vector or other I can't recall their names, rex 4 Texture …

Hello, I use the Prepar3D v4 and PMDG NGX, with two GPU's to handle more monitors for the instruments in 2D. The main GPU is a GTX 1070, which runs the scenery. The other one is a GT 1030. It is expected a FPS drop by undocking displays in PMDG, but I noticed a better performance using the onboard GPU (Intel 630) with the additional monitors, rather than using the GT 1030. My motherboard is the Gigabyte B250M Gaming 3. I'm nota an expert in this, but I was wondering if this motherboard can handle two GPU's without slowering the communication in some way (maybe a limited bandwidth?). Is that possible? If so, which motherboard can replace it? My specs are: Gi…

So in the progress of choosing a new CPU for P3d. I hear a lot about the 8700k, 8086k, and 9900k. All these are HT equipped. From my understanding of HT and P3d wouldn’t a processor like the 9600k and 9700k have the same performance for a better price? U can pick up a 9600k for $250 right now. Why pay the premium price if it is not needed? Or am I missing something?

Runs P3D at 4k like an absolute dream! Thinking about getting an AIO for the GPU, anyone have any experience with them? I saw Alphacool make a full cover block/radiator/pump combo for the RTX cards.
