I will start with CYTZ - Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport. It is the surrounding scenery and approach that makes it special. Yours? Regards, Ray

To begin, I want to stress that I have a lot of respect for Asobo and believe that they have truly worked miracles in many areas of the sim; but some of their design decisions (not really bugs) still leave me scratching my head. Here's my top five (in no particular order): 1. Let's provide some of the most beautiful default aircraft ever included with a sim; but the doors must remain welded shut. 2. Let's make the noses on some of the AI aircraft extra pointy and chop off some of their tails... nobody will notice and it will increase performance by .0001%. 3. Let's pop up a dialogue box to quit when the aircraft shuts down... who wants to bother with al…

A recent thread cleared up my misconceptions around vsync and fps. I've ended up with a beautiful and smooth msfs, so I decided to take another look at field of view. Only way I know to get an accurate FOV is to use an online FOV tool then set Xplane to the right number of degrees. I used the C172 in Xplane at Orbx Shoreham in the UK. I parked at several locations and took screen shots from many angles in the cockpit view. I loaded up MSFS in the default C172 and changed the zoom level at the same locations until the views matched. For my 35inch 3440x1440 Monitor, the required zoom level was 82. Well worth a check to see if your zoom level setting is too…

I do not understand the details of how Microsoft/Asobo create their photogrammetric urban areas. I assume they take Bing data extracted for the urban area and use this real life data to create software representations of buildings and other physical structures in the area. This being the case, shouldn't that mean that any default airports in this urban area would be included in this representation? That is, actual buildings, towers and other physical structures as well as the runways, taxiways etc at the airport would be photogrammetric. To try to get a better feeling for this I selected Fort Myers Fla, a photogrammetric city, and KFMY which is very close to the city itse…

This thing just gets better and better. The change log is bigger than I expected. I have also put a link to 'things you might not know' about the JF Hawk. I never knew a lot of them. Well worth a read and shows the depth of the product. I need to read the manual one day! https://www.justflight.com/articles/just-flight-msfs-hawk-15-things-you-might-not-know? As my Community folder grows and grows it would be nice if like cache you can specify on demand a different drive for the sim to access the community folder. I could see in another year needing a TB drive alone for just the community folder. I posted this on the main forum to see what others think and get some visibility with ASOBO. I know there's a mod but just the same I would be nice to have this as a default option in the sim for desktop users (actually XBOX users could benefit from this feature as well with their external hard drives. Tell FS to use a different location for the Community Folder - Community / General Discussion - Microsoft Flight Simulator For…

I have real-time traffic on and find that sometimes I see aircraft on the map, but I cannot actually find them. The flight I had yesterday out of KDEN showed 5 or 6 planes near me, but I was unable to see any of them. Then I changed the time of day to night and then two were visible (by the lights). I then went back to live time and I could see them as well. I don't know if this is a bug or not, but it has happened a few times now.

Because the 3080 non ti is way way cheaper and almost as good, hardly any difference. And the 3090 he says has so much more VRAM then any game needs, by the time games need that much you will want a later card instead. 3080 ti is what he strongly recommends. However that was June 2021.

Anyone else experience this? Cockpit FPS just randomly cuts in half, and doesn’t always come back. Normally I get around 45 or so fps, 85% GPU usage there about. When the bug occurs, both my gpu usage and FPS each cut in half, down to around 22 fps and 44% usage. Sporadically it will “snap out of it” and both figures will shoot back up to their normal operating ranges. Then at random, it will again cut in half, with no obvious indication as to why. Going outside into drone view, both FPS and GPU usage shoot back up to where they should be, and never drop. Also, using “cockpit freelook” keybind (which I have bound to my hold mouse right click), makes both G…

I usually fly the Cessna 172 or the new Bonanza, and i fly VFR at 2000 feet or so to enjoy the scenery. The altimeter tells me how high I am from sea level. How do I tell how far I am above the ground and also how high do I have to be to clear those mountains up ahead? Roy

I flew the TBM today for the first time in a long time, and come to find out that it still has the Honeycomb 10 degree bug! None of the other aircraft that I fly exhibit this problem, so I wonder what's going on? Anyone have any insight?

Does anyone else seem to be having any issues getting the autopilot to follow the flight path? I've tried with the FBW A320, TBM, M20 and King Air so far and when I engage the autopilot and enter nav mode, the plane seems to just circle to the right. I've got the CDI in the correct setting, etc and I've had no issues in the past. At the moment I have to fly in heading mode. I've tried hitting the direct to button with the same result. I don't think I'm missing anything but it's entirely possible I guess. I don't have any of the gps mod updates installed.

since either of those two, the Pilot A.I. can't seem to land the plane anymore. Fine for taxi and take off, but on a GPS routed final, the A.I. routine can't seem to find or lock onto the glide path, and most of my attempts to have the A.I. pilot do Final Approach and land on the open runway, ends with a decent well short of the Threshold, and plowing into the ground. Before SU 5, the A.I. (most times) could get to Final, and land at the Destination Airport. Sort of a bummer at present for me, because some flights, like when I am taking dinner before the monitor, I like to be a passenger and just enjoy MSFS's real life world and eye candy. But...since those two…

I'm not clear on the differences between these two. I set up Rolling Cache to 90GB. It creates a 90GB "file" on the SSD. I presume that the sim will populate this 90GB file with scenery data as I fly around in the Sim. This will in turn help reduce the bandwidth load when flying around in that same area in the future. I presume also than that this feature won't be of much use to those that might always choose to fly in a different area. Those that fly regularly from a 'home' airport or those flying regular routes for a virtual airline might see most benefit. Maybe it will allow for a better experience if your internet connection goes down, provided you stay in a cach…
