Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020/2024)

I have seen many others deal with the increasing frequency of CTDs after updating to SU13 and I have also seen Microsoft deny that they have seen any increase in the frequency and therefore disclaim all responsibility for the CTDs. As such, perhaps more as a PSA, I thought I would detail below some things that have helped me reduce my CTDs: In my testing and experience with the almost 100% crashes on pressing Fly, the problem seems to be tied to graphics rendering (I always saw small graphics anomalies/glitches on the flight loading screen right before a crash) and I'd almost say the sim can't keep up (data requests to the servers, processing, who knows what.…

I haven't seen any in a long time. But the other day, I was flying northbound towards Hilo (PHTO) and could see a couple of spikes in the distance. Of course they resolved themselves before I got close.

I'm curious if anyone knows anything about an update for the ATR. A lot of things went wrong with it after SU 13. I had to stop using it. It would be great to have it back. Lee

Fallbrook Community Airport (L18) is 60 miles north of San Diego. The runway is unique, slightly short (2160ft) sited on a lone mesa a few hundred feet above the city. It’s a small hill which makes the hangars and some of the taxiways lower than the runway, requiring to taxi up hill. The approach view include "Mt. Palomar, home to the world-famous 200-inch reflecting telescope, to the east. Still having these 3 strings of lights from the ground to several thousand feet AGL. They converge at the top. I've only seen them around airports, stock and add-on, and sometimes there are 2 or 3. I suspect they are around other places, but I've only seen them around airports. I've done the usual disabling add-ons, clean driver install. Thought they might go away with sim updates, but they don't. I just spent hours going through the convoluted process of being "trusted" to post over in the official MSFS forum. I still am running under Windows 10 and was reluctant to upgrade due to reported issues with 11. Should I upgrade now?

Hi, curretnly having an issue when in cockpit view for some reason my view contantly scrolls down and I'm unable to stabilise with my mouse or joystick, when in outside view that doesn't happen. I have tried trying off my mouse with no effect and when viewing from outside my ontrols work fine using my Thrusmaster, I have checked my control options and nothing has changed since at last worked fine. Any help would be appreciated please.

Going to take it for a spin up in Alaska, and see how it flies after SP3.

I have been kind of half out of the game for 3-6 months. Just wondering what's good for newer airports and planes that came out? That way I don't have to dig through threads for a week to figure it out.

very recently spent quite a few pounds on a new motherboard (x6070e carbon Wi-Fi ) and CPU ( 7800x3d )and an expensive upgrade to my broadband ( 500 MB things, well very fast anyway ) installed MSFS in just over 2 hrs WOW . now installing the rest of the updates and absolute garbage lol, with some wild high speeds in between, i'am aware of this issue but still amusingly annoying , first world problems hey ! £1000 for slower speed ( in sim ) lol happy days

Is anyone else seeing this at 81ME? I did some searching but couldn't find any references made to this airport before. I know it's just an elevation glitch somewhere but I'm still curious if it's affecting just my installation or others, as well. I am running the SU14 beta but I know it was like this pre-beta. I don't have any other scenery that should be affecting this area, unless it's come from a world update that I have installed that others may not. It's been great practice for my takeoffs and landings with an obstacle, if nothing else.

So, as of 2023 is it possible to create community folder mods replacing default sounds? We have the Layout Generator now for creating json files in community addons and apps like REX modify default files (asobospecies) as well. Specifically I want to replace the ambient sounds that come with the sim, as they are quite repetative and noticeably looping. But I am unable to find the default file/folder structure that MSFS uses for its sound files.

Just wondering if anyone has tried the new Vessels: Cape Cod boating traffic addon.... Looks like a nice addon for those flying the Cape (like me). I am wondering if it plays nicely with the GAIST ship traffic mod? Rich

So, I normally only use VR. However I do have a beefy system, and a really nice monitor. So, I thought I’d try 2D with track IR again. After all the recent updates etc… My god, it’s like butter, and it looks absolutely stunning! I’m pulling 60-70fps with gsync enabled and literally every setting on ultra. I am seriously considering dumping VR again now. I’m so serious about it, I’m thinking about picking up a LG OLED C1 77” display with g-sync premium. I think the higher screen coupled with trackIR should be good. Anyone got any experience with a screen that size sitting right in front of it?

I put away MSFS for the summer and found that it was messed up and not loading when I got back to it. So, now I'm wanting to try something different, First, is it possible to download it to my SSD Drive? (H) If so, what are the steps? If it's not possible, can I then download the packages to another drive? My SSD HD C Drive is only 512gb and I am finding it won't hold everything. Even with just the Standard download with no updates, it makes it impossible to run a video. Anyone got any ideas besides getting a new internal SSD HD? The pocketbook has nothing but a couple of dead moths who died from starvation. Thanks. Gary

Pushed back in the Horizon 787-9. Ground rquipment cleared (GSX). Went to taxi, speed was increasing but I wasn't moving. In fact I got up to take off speed according to the speed tape (see image below) but I wasn't moving. Any ideas? Image: https://imgur.com/m2H3iJq

On my windows PC, control + 9 takes me to the Captain's UFT - I cannot find a similar shortcut for the FO's tablet - is there one? or do you have any suggestions as to how to create one.

Hey guys I have purchased yssy for msfs flytampa. Thou with gsx pro gates will not move at all. I have disabled the default jetways via gsx pro. Any suggestions ? thanks mike

Hi fellas, especially @Bert Pieke 😊 After its first patch I purchased the Carenado C182RG, but like any other Carenado aircraft it doesn't use the WT GNS 530 by default. What file do I have to edit and how to accomplish this? I am aware I can do a seperate WT GNS 530 installation within the sim, but I'm not sure if this gets updated... Thanks!

PMDG Operations centre has updates for the 737

Hi, I noticed that the zoom function in drone mode has quit an impact on performance when you try to move around. Any one else ? . Its getting worse the more you zoom in. Thanks Michael Moe
