Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020/2024)

We will soon be approaching one month since launch. My experience with this latest iteration of MSFS has been fairly good. However when it comes to default aircraft, not so much. The only aircraft which I seem to enjoy flying at the moment is the Cessna 172 with manual gauges, though I’m not much of a GA fan. Appreciate if members in the know regarding what third party developers are currently up to please post what addons to expect and when. When can we expect a PMDG or a Level-D (do they still exist) to come up with an airliner addon? Is there a SIAI Marchetti SF260 trainer available for FS2020?

Or is it only old fortran?

I want to try something different and do a "ferry flight" from its home base to Europe. Say, from Wichita, KS, to London. What would be appropriate stops, given the plane's range?

Maybe someone can confirm my results but I was always wondering about the lack of lots of online traffic. I realized at one point I turned on AI offline and set sliders to 10 percent. Turned off AI offline and went back to live traffic. I see some planes but not alot. So, I went back in, turned on AI offline, set sliders to 50% each and saved. Turned back on Live traffic went back in game and planes are everywhere. I know the two are supposed to be independent of each other but it does seem that live traffic for some reason is tied to your traffic volume setting for AI offline.

Do any of you guys see this when you enable Dev mode and from an outside view chose "aircraft geometry" ? All of the aircraft in my install show a port side displaced reference geometry:

Hi, Is any way that I can set cockpit or outside view independently of each other? Wight now if I zoom inside the cockpit it does also change the outside view at the same value. Thank you! I still cannot believe that there is no manual for this software. All the other Microsoft simulators products had/have a manual.............

When I program in a flightplan manually by using airways and intersections/waypoints, it looks fine when I'm on the ground. As soon as I take off, the first leg of my flightplan dissapears, and soon, the entire airway section is gone. What I end up with is the last waypoint before my destination. It's like the FMC continuously degrades the plottet route. I think it has to do with airways. However, I notice other people flying long distances, multi-hour trips. How do they make it stick? I hope not by plotting individual waypoints. On a realistic flightplan that would take forever...

I'm wanting to map a few of the G1000 controls to a button-box to make it easier to control autopilot functions while flying - those on-screen buttons are v small and I'm usually flying a small prop plane in a bit of turbulance. So while I have mapped functions such as alt, alt hold, nav, hdg, climib rate, YD, AP & FD on/off, I'd like to extend it to MFD/FMS dual stacked knob (bottom right of the G1000) with push-function, and the Prog and Enter buttons used to select and engage approach and ILS for autopilot. There doesn't seem to be anything msfs allows mapped to these knob & buttons?

3 hrs this morning trying to fly 2 flights First flight KRDU to KILN in the Bonanza. 1 hour into flight after setting up ILS Frequency and Coarse Selection chgd to heading mode and tried to activate Nav1 approach and boom Crash to desktop Second flight Ktex to Kapa KA350 Plane started icing up. Tried everything to deice windshield Notice Power was set on Ground chgd to center, voltage but no amps to plane No deicing! I give up. There are so many bugs and ctds. Im not sure if they will every get this software fixed.

Hi everyone! I just discovered Self Loading Cargo today and bought it right away! However, it requires FSUIPC7 Beta to run and that's where it gets tricky. If I understood correctly, we just have to download the FSUIPC7 folder on our device, and run the FSUIPC7.exe when the sim is running, before opening SLC. The problem is I can't run FSUIPC7.exe, even as administrator I got this error message, could you please help me? Thanks a lot

I found the guide to adding enhanced scenery on msfsaddons. I’ve started to follow the process, but noticed that it involves downloading satellite imagery (pretty obviously), from a source such as Google Maps. Does anyone know whether this violates any terms of use or copyright? I wouldn’t want my first venture into the sim world to be at all dodgy...

Today at 1:00 Eastern Time, I am going to do a live stream on YouTube where I will demonstrate how to fly, control and navigate one of MSFS 2020's best jets. No issues with fs2020 except with the Garmin 530 in the C172. The enter button appears to be pressed when selected but a direct to airport does not activate. Has anyone else have experienced this?

Im looking for a VA without using a FSUIPC flightrecorder. All know, at this moment FSUIPC is stuttering in MSFS2020. i only now Onair Company nothing else 😞

Hello Everyone, Read through some topics on here before posting and did not see this exact thing mentioned. I have been having AP woes in the Airliners as well. The worst part is that a few minutes into a flight, the cockpit buttons stop working and my scroll wheel no longer zooms. The buttons don't have the little notifications either. It is like the just become a part of the background and cannot be used. Only way to get control back is to quite the flight. Anyone else experiencing this?

Hi, I have just started flying in the Flight Simulator 2020, and so far I'm having fun. I don't have a joystick, so I control the plane by using the keyboard. This works surprisingly well when I take off from the ground, because pressing num pad 5 makes the manoveur "stick". So, if I press num pad 4 to turn left, the plane will gradually lean over to the left. When I press 5, it leans no more or no less than that. To straigthen up, I press num pad 6, and the plane slowly leans back up, and I press num pad 5 to stop the movement from left to right. If I start the flight in mid air, however, the controls work differently. If I press num pad 4, the plane leans left…

I do get some random CTDs while playing MFS, though it's really not that bad. Today however, I was loading up a new flight and alt-tabbed over to Firefox to catch up on some browsing. Shortly after MFS crashed out, but at the exact same moment so did Firefox! This makes me think that some of these CTDs are a fault in Windows. AFAIK an application-caused CTD won't take other applications with it. Just something to think about. If there are issues in Windows (who am I kidding, of course there are), then a complex, demanding program like MFS is more likely to trigger these than your average, everyday simple app. Of course if you're playing XPlane for a dozen hours …

Does anyone have issues slowing a lot of these aircraft down? Big culprits are the Citations. The Savage cub is fine...but aircraft in between those sizes appear to be difficult to slow (at least realistically). In a plane with constant speed prop, you would typically slow down at 1 inch of manifold per minute. That's challenging in the sim. And with the gear down I'd expect a lot more drag -but I'm not seeing that either. I also think it's difficult to use a forward slip, it's as if the cross controlled configuration doesn't affect drag at all. Has anyone experienced this? Or is there something wrong with my controls? Hi All I was wondering if anyone else is experiencing worse performance post update. Prior to updating my sim ran very smooth in ultra, virtually no issues but I am noticing significant degradation in performance. I was able to run it in Ultra with little to no issues but since the update have had to modify many of my settings to medium. Are other people experiencing this and any ideas if there is a solve? Hello ! Did anyone find out if it is possible to change the size of night lightning bulbs and runway lighting ? The old trick with "RUNWAY_LIGHTS_APPROACH_SCALAR" (etc) in the .cfg file and changing the halo.bmp (which is also available as a file in the base folder) doesn't seem to change anything ! They appear again with NvidiaSorround (3x27") much too big ! cheers !

I'm working on porting over a native FS9 aircraft model designed with old GMAX to MSFS. Meanwhile, I decided to convert the model to a native FSX model in GMAX, because the conversion of the original FS9 model with MCX results in some animations not working in MSFS. My FS9 native model has gear / flaps / spoilers / thrust reverser retracted in 0 keyframe position, at 100 / 200 keyframe position, the objects are extracted. To make it work correctly in MSFS, I will have to reverse that order; for example, the 0 keyframe position for the gear, it must be in extracted position, the flaps also must be in extracted position at 0 keyframe position. During the installation, it loads up to 55 GB, then decreases 33 GB and continues 33 GB .. what is the problem?
