Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020/2024)

Hi Having installed FS2020 on my E:\ drive why is the Community folder still on the C:\ drive? I understand all addons go into the Community folder but I am running low on space on the C:\ drive. Was wondering anyway to move\change the location of the Community folder?

I have setup the interior views to be able to pan around with my hat switch on my Logitech 3D joystick Extreme, and that is working very smoothly, but can't seem to be able to do it for the exterior views. Can anyone help with this? I can get the view to change to say the right, but if I let goof the hat switch, the view snaps back to looking ahead. Thanks

Anyone else getting fuzzy looking runway lights and Taxi Signs at night? I can see how this effect would be good for street lights but up close on runways it looks way to "Fuzzy" if not blurry... Is there a specific setting to sharpen the night lights? Thanks!

HI, to the avsim community I have been recently using the sdk and was looking around in the directories for the samples, and accidentally deleted them. For some reason they aren't in my recycle bin is there any way i can trigger the sdk re download or just download the sample directory structure i have everything else in place. I have tried decompiling a few packages but that has left me more confused. Any help would be very much appreciated, thanks matt

I am not a real pilot, and back when I "played" FSX, that's basically what I did - play it like a game where I focused on the flying and sight-seeing aspect. Now I'm trying to be a little more "by the book" and fly like an actual pilot (lite), and part of that is using flight plans and RNAV approaches. In other words, I'm a noob, so please be easy on me! So here is my question - how do I know what runway is the landing and departing runway for an airport out of radio range? For example, take an airport with four approaches (N,S,E,W), each with its own RNAV approach pattern. Now normally I would assume that looking up the local weather conditions would give me the mos…

So I’ve been using Msfs strictly for GA flying, Think Im going to try my hand at an attempt to fly the A320 or 787 this weekend.. I’m aware these are not anywhere near what is offered in p3d, but will the default 320 or 787 get me from point A to point B with not too much frustration? Or would I be wasting my time more than anything.

Not long after I had the sim installed and working, I had a hard drive failure and lost everything. No, I hadn't had chance to back up yet. I got a new computer and am in the process of reinstalling everything. I'm having a problem trying to redownload MSFS. I go to the Microsoft Store and navigate to the sim that I own and click on "install". Nothing happens. Download doesn't start. Any idea what else I have to do to start the process? I'm finally able to access the official forums, but clicking Login (or Sign Up for that matter) brings me to an "Oops" page. Are others seeing that as well?

I am wondering what you guys think between these two? Which one do you think is more realistic? I just bought the same plane 3x. I've spent almost $100 for the same plane for P3D, X-Plane and now MSFS. This is why I rather stick to just one sim. It gets rather expensive. Anyways I haven't really flown it much, but what I've experienced, it's pretty decent. The only thing that I wish it had was synthetic vision. I've not really dived into messing with the G1000 on it yet, but I really hope that it has more features than the default one in the C172. Also, how do you get the tablet that shows up when you first load up the plane?

I was a fan of Microsoft Flight Simulator since 2000 and spent hundreds if not into the thousands of my hard earned cash on a PC, Addons and peripherals. As time went by, my passion slowly faded. Is there a way that we can quickly toggle on and off the player and AI plane label in the game without having to go through the menus?

I notice when running MSFS in windowed mode, that I can't multitask with another window that has a video playing, such as Youtube, Plex, etc. Whenever I have MSFS as the active window, the video will become unresponsive, but when I change the active window back to my browser where youtube is at, then the video is back to normal. Same with any other window that has video playing. I never had this problem before in Prepar3D. I was able to have watch YouTube videos even if it wasn't the active window. But with MSFS, you can't do that.

Is there a new patch coming out Thursday Sep24 or do we know yet. Regards

Just curious are there any aircraft that support RNAV approaches and can fly them (like an ILS in other words without the ILS radio)? I'm mostly curious on the TBM. I assume the airliners could if they worked at all, but curious what other aircraft if any in the sim can. I'm guessing they can fly the lateral part but not sure about the "virtual" glideslope. RNAV is fairly new since last time I simmed seriously and I see a lot of RNAV approaches in navigraph and the sim when planning. Would like to use them without hand flying 🙂

Just a couple of questions from someone who has not installed MSFS; I understand you can download and save areas you want. Let's say my home state of California. Do many of you do something like that? Or with the constant patches it would be futile? Also, I don't hear much about flying and bandwidth issues. My speed is 20Mbps. Does that mean I would be flying along and see the scenery degrade in quality because it can't keep up? thoughts?

I tried to search but could not find this, maybe I am using the wrong words. I notice that at 100% CPU load, when I get like 8 FPS I can click on one of my other displays that are not displaying the game, and the FPS goes to 30 and I can still control with my joy stick just fine. CPU usage is still 100% but it does not seem to affect game play. Once I click back on the game it drops again until the cpu load drops and I am GPU bound again. I just OCed my CPU and GPU today actually after 4 years of ownership and it runs a bit better when GPU bound but these 100% CPU hits are still awful. Is there a way for the game to run nice even when it is in focus? 6700k OCed to 4.…

Trying to figure out what airport is in the loading screen. The one where the TBM is aiming from left to right flying at you, and the airport is below about left center of the screen. I thought it was KSFO for a minute because it's on the water with hills on the other side, but KSFO has dual perpendicular runways and the loading screen one looks to only have 3 runways.

Hi guys, looking for the location of MSFS2020 error log files, if any? Trying to work out why my program that generates a '.pln' file is not loading in the sim properly.

I found when I choose KTVL or KTEX as my destination, neither has approaches available in the Garmin 1000 or 3000.

I'm repainting the default Bonanza and it is coming up with quite a few artifacts. I'd be grateful for any advice from a repaint guru. The bonanza has a simple livery dual colour dds file which consists of a square with two colours (the default red and black). The pattern is dictated not by this small file but by other image files in the texture folder. I should be able to simply change the red and black to two other colours and the pattern will remain the same. It is working fine except there are blotches or artifacts in some areas when I view it in the hanger. I'm using DXT BMP to load the dds file then load it into paint. Hi friends, I dont own MSFS yet and was curious about something. Terrain mesh like FSGlobal, FSGenesis, FreeMesh & HDMesh etc are very popular with FSX & X-Plane 11. Would MSFS benefit from such an addon or is the default global terrain mesh out of the box accurate enough to not require it? I ask because the meshes in those older sims made a difference in places like the Himalayas, Andes etc. It bumped things up to LOD12 in places like America. What is the LOD for MSFS terrain out of the box?

Even after the new patch I can still not buy anything through the Marketplace. When I click on 'Buy and Download', straight away I get a 'Payment Failure' notification. It doesn't even attempt to make the payment. I've tried asking on here before and through Zendesk but no one seems to know what the problem is, despite other users also reporting the same problem. The marketplace community is a huge part of MSFS and not being able to access or use it is a major problem. Please help! There must be a solution to this (I've already tried running through the Xbox app). From desperate Ben!
