Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020/2024)

I was part of the Alpha/Beta testers and upon release I decided to wait to get MSFS until it had VR support. Asobo is doing a great job post release adding, fixing, updating thanks to their strong relationship that they have built with the community. I just find some humor in the fact that I feel like now the public is beta testing the sim for when I am ready to get it back (I suppose you could say). Heres to November when the HP Reverb G2 will be released and all the great updates, addons and fixes that will come between then and now.

I fly the A320 exclusively for weeks now, presently the very finely and latest modded version. One thing I have always observed on the F-PLN page down at the bottom in white, that the destination NM are static, always showing the full distance and never updating as the flight progresses. Is this a bug? Am I not setting the MCDU up correctly? United001

With all these wonderful freeware offerings created by very talented people, I find myself with a dilemma. If MSFS will have updated scenery patches does it make sense to fill up precious space with freeware. I want all of them even though I never fly in those cities but they look so good. One the other hand they seem easy to just take out of the community folder. I am not installing any airport scenery until we get proper ai models and flight plans but the city scenery is fantastic. Are you waiting for MSFS to update the scenery or are you installing all the freeware your pc can handle.

I noticed I was having a problem where my Heading bug was jumping roughly 10 degrees with each push and couldn't figure it out. I also noticed something odd about the default bindings that the game shipped with. It included four bindings for Magnetos that were setup for buttons above 30 when the yoke only has 30 buttons. Then a poster in another thread mentioned that, during the beta, they had this issue and the fix, he thought, was to unbind those plus all the lights/beacons/strobes/taxi switches. Since I like using the latter I decided to just unbind (via Controls) just the odd magneto assignments. Once done the heading resolution bug was gone.

This morning I thought I'd put together a little video on how to use one of the planes for newcomers. So I started, and was trying to explain the autopilot when...it wouldn't set. What? I looked around and of course, half my systems had gone dead. Thanks for the "fix: Asobo 😠

Well. I wonder if anyone has INFORMED opinion on which planes are worth a try from default library? I am not talking obviously about these already modded. Any thoughts? &

Saw this over on the msfs forums. Seems pricey at 25 euros! How long do you use a pushback on a flight? 20 seconds perhaps. I'll stick to default.

Hi all, Does anyone have any insights on how internet speed impacts performance in the sim? I currently have a plan that offers up to 200mbps. Since my rig is in the basement, I have one Ethernet cable running from the router to a 10/100 switch. From there, I have another Ethernet cable running under carpeting (and furniture) to another 10/100 switch which is then connected to my box with another Ethernet cable. With the 2 10/100 switches, and the fact that I think some of the Ethernet cables are cat5, I'm pretty sure I'm limiting my speed to 100mbps. I trying to decide if it is worth my time to rip everything apart, get new switches, and get cat6 cables. I…

I had the clever idea of replacing the default textures for trees with colorful ones so I can experience a proper New England autumn, but when I go to open these I get the following error - "Unsupported compression (827611204) in BMP". I've tried opening these files with multiple graphic editors, but no joy. Most of the texture files in fs-base directory open fine, but trees and a few others do not. Does anyone have an idea as to why?

For the very first time since I installed MFS release version I had since yesterday the same feel / attraction / enjoyment I used to get from MS FLIGHT missions... I started to taste the Landing Challenges, and wow, I was taken by it in a way I can only recall when using MS FLIGHT 8 years ago ! The challenges themselves, helped by the superb scenery and weather effects made a huge improvement over anything I have used in between!

Hi guys, I just installed FS2020 delux after using FSX for long... I have 2 quick Q: 1) is there no checkride in the learning center of FS2020? 2) how can I add a Cessna 172SP? thanx a mil!

Last week I installed MSFS on a new computer. On start up the graphics setting defaulted to high end. I found though that the system runs MSFS perfectly fine on Ultra. I have observed however, that MSFS defaults to 'high end', every time I start it. I have tried custom settings, but the same thing happens. On re start of MSFS it defaults to high on every startup. Has anyone else experienced this, or have any idea how to fix this?

Is there an issue where rain in live weather does not create wet effects in airports ?

Hello everyone, I have have a problem with the new addon scenery Berlin Tegel from Gaya. I purchased it today on the marketplace in fs2020 and tried it after downloading it. I recognized that a few Buildings are sunken in the ground and that the bridge on taxiway PW/PE isn't usable because of a buggy scenery so i reinstalled it several times but i can't fix it does someone has the same problem or a solution for this problem? My Theory is that this whole scenery is to high in the world some buildings standing on the original ground an som are standing on the new raised ground cousing these bugs. Greeting from Berlin B.B

Just started to notice it. Many runways which are 100% open and active are simply shown closed with a yellow "X" on them.

Hi guys! I try to play FS2020 on my triple monitor setup. I got 3 1680x1050 monitors. I use Nvidia Surround to combine them to a 5040x1050 resolution. But when I apply my settings in FS2020 everything is stretched out. Does somebody know a solution? Max

It seems we have multiple tiers of scenery quality now... - Default photogrammetry scenery - Default non-PG scenery - Handcrafted scenery (Mostly free, some paid) I have to admit, when I bought MSFS, I thought the quality of the scenery was so good, that add-ons wouldn't be necessary. Hello everyone. Last week I bought and installed MFS2020 onto my pc. I bought the physical version with discs. I installed it just fine with no difficulties but after I setup the settings when you first download it, it loads to about halfway and stops. I don’t know what to do.

Seems like buying KBUR from ORBX is almost a requirement to fly an airliner in there? Landed and was shocked to find no taxi to gates (or anywhere except just taking off again). Sure enough went back to the planning screen and it's all GA parking in there. Uh, that doesn't seem right? At least I had an amazing approach. I run the Longitide MFD/map display on a second screen. In this case the zoon knob is lost. Are there keyboard keys that can be assigned to this function. I can not find any in the assignment charts. Kev M

Hi All I am running flight sim 2020 in ultra settings, as I have a fairly high end machine running 2 Gforce1080 graphics cards However when flying a flight using clear sky options, the horizon is so glary and bright, its almost blinding to look at. And there seems to be a constant haze around, but mainly on the horizon. Having looked at other youtube flights, this doesn't seem to be present in there vids. I have turned off bloom and light shafts anything that could cause this in settings. However it is still present. It detracts from seeing scenery detail due to the haze, and is very annoying.
