Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020/2024)

Since the new update all I get is a crash to desktop when clicking the Globe to pick a an airport.............Good God this thing is awful.

I am mildly desperate for a Beaver with floats!!!!! Anyone heard anything since Milviz announced their Beaver for MSFS was in development? That was about 3 months ago I think?

Note that the alpha version should be posted later tonight or tomorrow at the latest. Gets rid of the spires and elevated lakes and ponds, as well as reduces some of the "pop-in" effect from the DEM errors. I'm currently doing manual, but eventually also automated elevation fixes for the Eastern US and then I will compare the results to see which is better performance and otherwise. This will remove MOST of the spires from Washington DC to Virginia to West Virginia to NC to Tennessee and to Georgia. Will post link once the alpha is ready. Right now, I'm about 50% done with the manual, once I get to 75% or so going to do the automated and compare.

Ok, I've browsed a bit, and I don't see this posted anywhere nor am I sure where to post it. Every flight I've had so far regardless of aircraft ends when my aircraft loses engine power at 29%. I am forced to land in a field or crash. When I am able to land it, my engine will turn over when attempting to start, but will not start. I'm hoping someone will tell me it's something simple like a flight plan issue or something of the nature. Any help is appreciated whether its an answer or referral to the right location for this question. Matt

In Patch 7 (11/25/20), Asobo did something to the autopilot code that caused some adverse behavior. Assuming a simple heading mode change of 45 degrees, the problem is exhibited by the following behavior. 1. The initial bank angle is not constant and not steep enough. It is based on the difference between the current heading and the desired heading. This indicates PID-only control. 2. The bank angle reduces rapidly and proportionally from max bank to a very small bank with around 5-10 degrees of heading change left to go. This, too, strongly indicates PID-only control. 3. But truth is I loaded up XPlane the other night to upgrade my copy to 11.50 (Vulkan), I was part of the open BETA before and tbh was just curious so I updated everything took it for a spin and it gave me a chance to try my recently purchasing HOTAS Warthog and Throttle, previously I used the Saitek Yoke which to be fair is a child's toy in comparison! Anyway back to the point of my post, I noticed (but had forgotten) just how FAR you can zoom in using the mousewheel in XPlane - super useful for spotting the field. When I press the desktop shortcut to open MSFS2020 I get the below message. "Do you want to allow this app to make changes to your device" in MSFS 2020? Is it safe to disable this and how? Stelios

Brought the Deluxe version for the C172 steam panel and the plane is not there upon install. Where do I start on addressing this issue? Is there any known issues? I did not buy it on Steam.

While flying the DA62 (with current DA62X modifications) at 12,500' and 159 knots on GPS/AP - the plane reached the next waypoint (number 5 in a flight that had been cruising at FL12.5 for over an hour) and the PFD showed the change in waypoint and the bearing to the new waypoint. The plane started to make the 15° degree turn to starboard to head to waypoint 6 when it suddenly rolled hard to the left, dropped the left wing tip, and went into a rapid spiral descent, which led to inverted flight at greater than VNe in less than 10-seconds. The AUscene addon for YSPT on the Australian Gold Coast has been out for a while but I put off buying it till it made it to the marketplace. YSPT is a private airstrip with hangers full of very expensive aircraft that is very difficult in real life to get permission to land. Partly because it is exclusive and partly becasue it is a short very narrow runway surrounded by trees with a displaced threshhold at both ends. Every time I want to fly from Cairo International to Larnaca International (Cyprus) on a flight plan the simulator crashes half way. Anybody else found this problem when flying a particular route? Stelios

I’m curious how others deal with the conundrum of free add-on scenery, and the wide variety of quality and performance that comes with it. Ideally, I like to fly to a place and then “explore” it in more detail with the drone. For example... London. I flew the A320 to Gatwick, then flew a 208B to London City, explored with the drone, and then departed for Oxford, to explore that by drone. Default London is pretty uninspiring. Westminster Abby is just an imprint on the ground and the parliament buildings look almost fake in their hand crafted pristine representation. I was at Easter Island today and flew low and slow looking for the statues, but couldn't find them anywhere, even with a map open in my second window (although there did appear to be big fuel tanks all over. I wonder if that's what they're seen as by the ai.). Has anyone been able to see them? In addition, I experienced my first case of the micro stutters many have complained about.

I have just got an RTX 3070 and I am really happy I can fly in ultra with very good frame rate. Nevertheless, I have a minor issue, even if it is not really serious I would like to know if there is a possible solution. My problem is that when I fly to scenery I want to see from a close distance, the level of detail increases as long as I get closer, this is normal. But when I get so close that I can see a lot of details, I see "last second adjustments", which means I see the scenery and the shadows adjusting to look good. Indeed, it looks perfect, but I would be even happier if these adjustments could happen a little earlier, before I arrive on top of it. For ex…

Hi all, I have RTX3090 installed in my machine. And i only got 20fps in 747 cockpit with ultra settings. It's weird. Before RTX3090, i used 2080super and got about 35fps with same settings. How to fix it.

Long story short, migrated from P3D to MSFS 2020, and boy is this thing broken or is it user error? I cannot even have a 360 view of the cockpit using my simulator's control. If I try to look right, the view gets stuck there and everything gets of whack. To my point, this thing is not flyable. If you cannot move comfortably around the cabin, I don't think you can fly. I have not even got past this issue. I guess this is just the beginning of a long journey

I'd like to know how it can be possible to import a flightplan via PFPX and having a vertical profil with accurate flightlevels at the waypoints and a shown TOD. Is this possible at all; maybe there is a tutorial how to handle this?

Has anyone tried this mod yet? It allows you to quickly toggle on/off those tooltips that appear for AI traffic, Online User Planes, POI's, waypoints, gates etc. Haven't been home to try it out yet. But it's been one feature that I hope Asobo will add into the sim so that we don't have to have many small add-ons like this clogging up our Community folder. I was pretty harsch on the new night lighting introduced since Patch 8 and many seemed to agree (more than 400 votes in the official forum on this topic). Yet flying again over European cities, I must say that they feel quite alive and vibrant with the enhanced brightness. Because infrastructure is more irregular in European cities, that monotonous grid like pattern typical of American cities is not there. Perhaps with the latest patch, they improved it further by dimming the distance roads a bit. Overall, I like it now, at least in European cities.

I have been recently accepted in Microsoft Flight Simulator Partner program, and for the last few weeks I went through the process of submitting and releasing my airport through the in-game Marketplace. I have to say the experience was very pleasant overall, and the CNC3 Brampton Caledon airport is now released in the in-game Marketplace yesterday in the last update. It is also available on my website at https://flightsimulation.romandesign.ca/ (along with a basic free version) and on FlightSim.com store. Let's hope it will be a success so I can make more Canadian airports. I am very close to finishing CYKZ Buttonville, which I hope to submit soon.
