What does everybody recommend these days? 99% airliner guy. So it's mostly for taxi and final approach. Ive been a twist stick guy forever. Have about 30 hours real life flying, so yes I get the concept and know how important they are. Is it possible to be in the $250 (US) range and get something ok?

Some, who purchased the Rift S might feel a bit misled/cheated..... https://arstechnica.com/gaming/2019/09/oculus-quests-secret-trick-it-can-double-as-a-wired-pc-vr-headset/ SAN JOSE, Calif.—At Wednesday's Oculus Connect conference, the virtual reality company took the wraps off a secret that it had apparently hidden in its recent high-quality Oculus Quest headset all along. The $400 device has been marketed as a standalone wireless VR system, but thanks to an incoming "Oculus Link" update, coming in November, it will soon double as a wired-PC option. Should you have a lengthy USB Type-C cable handy, you can expect to plug a Quest VR headset into a compatib…

With the release of Hotfix 2 for Prepar3D V4.5 a VR Tuning Guide has been added to the Learning Center. It seems to be quite detailed.

Hopefully some of us will get a chance to evaluate the tech alpha build (maybe in October ) of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 - in VR mode especially!! The trailer videos are amazing - finally we have a GoogleEarth type of worlds to fly in - they look so real! Make sure you sign up (https://www.flightsimulator.com/ ) as an Insider. Please report if you get to try it out! Dave W.

This is not a complete review of the Reverb - just how it feels to me with respect to being at the pilot's eyepoint and using the cockpit instruments primarily. I have had an Odyssey+ since last Thanksgiving and really have enjoyed it - except for the lack of clarity. Actually, that issue has improved over the last two months with some of the Microsoft and SteamVR improvements having to do with "RenderTargetScale" and other similar issues. I have a great CPU - a 9700K at 5Ghz - and a medium speed RTX2070 - so I ran the SuperSampling up to about 2000x2500 and used SteamVR "auto" reprojection for a minimum of stutter when looking out the side window at an airport fu…

https://www.roadtovr.com/microsoft-flight-simulator-dev-will-try-darnedest-make-vr-support-happen/ Microsoft Flight Simulator seemed like the ideal candidate for VR support when it was unveiled back at E3 2019 in June, however word got out at E3 that the studio hadn’t fully committed to supporting VR headsets at launch. While day-one support is still up in the air, the studio says it has indeed included VR support in their development plans thanks to community feedback. Speaking to AVSIM, head of Microsoft Flight Simulator Jörg Neumann reveals that although VR support wasn’t initially on the drawing table, that they’re trying to make it a possibility. “It h…

I have a Rift CV1 and fly in P3dV4.5. It works very well, but, has the normally visible screen door effect and relatively poor resolution. I am considering purchase of the Rift S as a replacement. I would really like to hear from folks who have purchased the Rift S to replace the Rift CV1 for use with P3D. My computer system is fairly strong: 8700K @ 4.99 ghz, and, 1080TI. I can hold 45 fps in most locations with P3D settings at Very Dense. Looking forward to hearing from you. Regards, Danny

Today I enjoyed in my search for a "friendly" fps plane the TFDi-717 for P3Dv4 and made a comfortable flight over the Austrian Alps from Slovenia Ljubljana ( LJLJ) to the all mighty ORBX LOWI with nearly all settings high and 8xSSAA. but most important, the whole flight with high settings above 30fps. (34 average) I know, nothing compared with the 90/90 I get in Aerofly but if you want to fly P3D with the Reverb in high settings, you are lucky to reach 30fps with an airliner without dialing all the eye candy down. The only thing I ruled out when flying VR is shadows. What a surprise by the way, these little airliner coming out as a crossing model between the old DC9 an…

Hi VR simmers. Does anyone know how to setup VR-SLI? I was reading this over at the Nvidia site: https://developer.nvidia.com/vrworks/graphics/vrsli Is it worth buying another 2080ti and get each card to drive each eye panel. IM

Please help. I've spent the last week trying to break in my new HP Reverb headset. The good news is the Reverb works perfectly in Hill House. Unfortunately I can't use it for the job it was bought for - flying a helicopter in P3D. I've been using P3D successfully for over a year now but nothing has made it possible for me to fly in the Reverb. Briefly, I've got Windows Mixed Reality working on a monitor and the Reverb, I've installed Steam and SteamVR and I've got the SteamVR plugin as an asset from the Unity Store (whatever that means). So according to web guidance I should be good to go. But this happens: I turn on the PC then Windows Mixed Reality Portal…

There is a Rift Campaign happening now. For anyone interested in trying some games for FREE. You get an instant 2 months free subscription. https://www.campaign.viveport.com/oculus-rift-campaign Viveport is the official app store for the HTC Vive, offering gamers a range of free- and paid-for VR experiences tailored to HTC’s VR headset. The store is HTC’s answer to the Rift’s Oculus Home app, and offers a plethora of experiences for Vive owners, some of which are exclusive to the platform – although usually only for a limited time. (It's worth noting that Vive users can play Rift games on the Oculus Store with a workaround). Viveport isn’t centred around V…

I thought this was interesting: https://uni3dlabs.ru/portfolio/fight-simulator-in-virtual-reality/ By order of the MIREA Branch in Fryazino, the United 3D Labs Computer Graphics Laboratory developed an arcade flight simulator for HTC Vive virtual reality glasses. Full realism of sensations - a real pilot's seat and material airplane control sticks! The MIREA branch in Fryazino cannot boast of huge audiences, dozens of faculties and thousands of students of the parent university, but this makes the branch’s staff more attentive to each student and selects them when they still go to high school. Teachers travel to schools, organize all kinds of events and presenta…

Hi fellow (VR interested) simmers, Yesterday I received an offer to buy a second hand Nvidia Titan X Pascal (2017) on water cooling so I took the bait and OMG... my recently new bought (RTX 2070 Super) goes back to the store tomorrow.. The 2070-S is a super card without any doubt and comparable with a 1080ti but oh my, that Titan on water and with a moderate OC is running Aerofly in VR 4K on a nice steady 90Hz and 90 fps (tested at Meigs Scenery for a while) and no need for AA settings etc. Time frames on CPU (9600K OC to 4.6) and the Titan GPU are constant below 8Ms and gives a super simming/gameplay.. I followed also the developments with Flyinside and ordered via …

I was worried about this from the moment I saw those flashy visible-light controllers because of my experience with the Samsung Odyssey and its similarly brightly lit controllers with annoying battery life. Seems there is bad news, and the interweb is not amused.

Elite Dangerous is pretty much the poster child of VR. Gorgeous visuals, lots of system depth vis a vis the controls, available voice commands, years of gameplay..... It's pretty much a must have, and now on sale for $8.99 until 9/23/19 https://store.steampowered.com/app/359320/Elite_Dangerous/

Came across this as am buying a VR Headset next month after a long time watching various reviews on You Tube however, I came across the new HTC Vive Cosmos but at the price, it is very expensive in comparison to other makes, $699 or £699 I have chosen to go for the Oculus Rift 'S' but even this has made to stop and think. I do not know much about VR apart from what I have read so what are your views on this? Regards Nigel.
