So..... just when I was mentally contemplating patting myself on the back for thinking of it, I learn that I thunk too soon, and others were having the same speculation. The problem is that while the Valve Index base specifications have turned a lot of heads, the price turned lots of those heads ruefully right back towards the Oculus Rift S What I was wondering was, is there a way to get the Index prices down a bit? The first bit of good news was I found that the Index will gladly accept either Valve lighthouses version 1.0 or 2.0 And right now, as many people get ready to upgrade, complete Vive headset/lighthouse combos can be found for extremely low …

Valve was like a honey badger and just didn't care! When the Oculus Rift S specs were revealed and it was seen that there would be no manual IPD adjustment, Valve immediately posted a picture of the IPD adjustment on its own upcoming headset. Not a picture of the headset, mind you, just a close up of the IPD adjustment mechanism. Already the message was out there that snark was in the air. But then Valve compounded it by literally waiting for the very day of Facebook's big reveal of the Oculus Rift S and Quest, and even as Mark Zuckerberg began to speak, they completely preempted him with the abrupt reveal of their own headset, catching nearly everyone by c…

In the hours before F8, things are still up in the air, but there is apparently an announcement scheduled. In the meanwhile, there are indications that the Rift S might be a preorder item: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/p/oculus-rift-s-pc-powered-vr-gaming-headset/8vbm8nh7hwwk (sorry, Link yanked by Microsoft, wonder who's being dressed down because of the early release?)

Hello, I have a problem that is a little bit complicated. I am using a good working PMAX 5K and P3D4.4, but when I am trying to activate my new VR glasses my view in the cockpit changes to an outside view next to the airplane flight deck/cockpit. I am facing the nose from the aircraft instead of inside the flight deck/cockpit. The view keeps moving to an outside view I want it to stay in the cockpit. When I have my VR glasses on and I’m moving my face, the cockpit moves with me instead of me just moving. Normally when you move your face you can see the whole cockpit, but that’s not possible when the cockpit moves with me. The landscape view on the other hand i…

Hi there Do you think that it might be possible? Latency looks to be about 20ms but could be less on 5G WIFI. Here is a video for the Go, but surely the quest will support this:

Fellow VR Flyers, I recommend not upgrading to the new Prepar3D ver 4.5. There is a bug we are still trying to track down that absolutely crashes the Sim when enabling Oculus. Something is broken...& will instantly cause a CTD. I can get PMDG737, Carenado, and the stock F-22, Commander 111 to work fine, but not Aerosoft Airbus. Have yet to try other aircraft including FSL (awaiting their patch). But some users are reporting they can't even get stock aircraft to work without CTD when enabling Oculus. Has anyone else done testing on this ? cheers, John

A zillion years ago, Activision created a game called KABOOM, where a hamburgler like character raced across the top of the screen dropping bombs that you frantically attempted to catch in a bucket. I got very good at that game and others, entering an almost zen-like state as I entered the "zone" where conscious thought became secondary to a near-trance that took over my body and allowed me to ramp up to an incredible reaction rate. I remember the superior teenage pity I felt as my uncle watched me play one day and commented that the game and I were moving so fast that he couldn't even see what was happening. Fast forward to now, and slowly I have retreated…

Silly me. Even though I've been using the Oculus tray tool, I always use Aerofly, or P3d's or X-Planes Internal supersampling, and if a game had no supersampling settings at all... Well, I was stuck. Now, all this time later, I find setting up supersampling via they tray tool works much better, and suddenly my Oculus is clearer across the board than I've ever seen it. Maybe this is a "duh" for everyone else, but for me and my 2080ti, leaving the tool at 2.0 for all games, is enough of a wow moment that I'm seriously reconsidering if I need any of the fancy new headsets. Lack of clarity has been far more annoying to me than screen-door effect, and suddenly t…

Not surprisingly, Samsung has discounted the Odyssey plus. $299 US\$399 CDN I have to admit I'm tempted by that price. But it seems you need VR covers and some other straps to make it comfortable. But I'm not sure how much I would miss my 4K resolution, and be able to access charts and menus without having to remove the headset. Tough decision.
