Used to love adding a bit of head shake on the old 2D pancake monitor when coming into landing to add extra immersion simulating head vibration. Then in VR in Flyinside you couldn't do it any more and "experts" told me that you don't want it anyway because it will make you sick. So I resigned myself to no headshake effect on takeoff and landing. Then P3D v4.3 and Chaseplane came along into my VR world. Flyinside was finished and I flew native VR with chaseplane from then on. In Chaseplane there are headshake motion effects. So I gave them a go. What I found is that if you keep the headshake level pretty low and concentrate it on y-axis only (…

Good evening, I received my oculus rift headset today, and I thought I would give some first impressions/reactions. I use P3D v4 exclusively, so leave if you wanna hear about another sim. First some background. I have been flightsimming on and off for I dont know 10-15 years now. In the last 5-6 years I have mainly been interested in study sims and i almost exclusively fly the 737NGX (Yes X for pmdg version) After having flown a few home cockpits an desktop two monitor setup just couldn't cut it anymore.. I had to get something else. Build my own sim? Well yes - ideally but I simply couldn't decide on A320 or 737.. (I know I mainly fly the NG so the ch…

Hi there happy new year. When I use HDR in P3D44 at night, if I'm on the ground I get a semi-greyed out look inside the Rift CV1 headset. If I slew up to say 500ft above ground, the grey look is gone and the black contrast levels are better. Anyone have a theory why? I made sure that night visibility on the ground is set to unlimited. Do people get this in other headsets too like the Samsung? Cheers

Hola everyone! First post from a 30-year simmer. My first sims were MSFS from 1989, and Microprose's F-19. My eyes to not align properly because my right eye tends to drift outward. This is the same eye condition Sarah Huckabee Sanders has, but mine is not as severe. It causes double vision because they don't line up, but the brain usually learns to ignore one image. It is still a huge problem because it ruins my depth perception. I can get them to line up, but it is tiring, and I get eyestrain after a few minutes. This makes me wonder if I will be able to use a VR headset at all. As I understand it, using a VR headset requires keeping the eyes forward and …

After already owning a smartphone Samsung Galaxy S9+, I invested in a "Samsung Gear VR with controller" SM-R325. To give VR in general a try, of course flight simming is a major application IMO. I asked several times in other threads for any experiences, also VR users. Or at least a first estimation. Never got any answer. Therefore I open a new thread. My level of knowledge regarding VR is fairly low so far, as many will know I was very busy with other tasks the last weeks. Notably I would be interested if there are any enhancements using P3D V4.4 regarding graphics quality and needed software-expense. AFAIK one needs SteamVR, the PC-Software "Riftcat" and the Andro…

After my 4th flight in a row ending in a CTD, I have finally given up with FlyInside. It is a great pity, because it is such a good bit of software. I have made 2 successful flights with native VR in P3D v4.3 but have some questions. 1) Is there anyway of having the mouse cursor fade away after a few seconds of innactivity? It is really distracting having a white blob continuously in the cockpit. 2) Is there anyway of repositioning Pop up windows. They just appear straight in front of me, and because they seem to be outside the cockpit, I can't interact with them. 3) This is the most feature I most regret loosing. In FlyInside there was a way of…

Hmmmmm.... Interesting. I think Oculus is kind of like many think of Apple. It just works. The controllers are still the best, and the software is still the slickest and most integrated. The packaging makes you feel like you've just purchased a porsche. The only thing it's falling behind in is resolution, and sorry to say, if they came up with an Oculus headset that matched the newer headset resolutions, I would probably throw my (very nice) Samsung over my shoulder in a heartbeat. (I hate the WMR controllers) If my WMR came with better native software and had nicer controllers, my feelings would be subject to revision. That being said, I bop back and forth…

I did a search here for the above topic, and surprisingly, I found nothing. I have the GTN 750 in the dash, (not a popout window) of the default C172 XP-11 ver26.0, (no, I won't upgrade to 30.0. I am getting 90+ frames currently) all seems great, except the 750 does not recognize any clicks from the mouse or touch controllers. Is this still not possible? Is there an update available that can fix this?

Has anybody tried this setup yet? My Oculus Rift just will not work anymore on my laptop, which is did for two years but know it will not work. The latest software update from Oculus seem to have broken it, and I've spent weeks with Oculus support trying to fix it. The simplest thing was to downgrade the software to prove it was the update, but Oculus does not support that. My laptop has HDMI and USB 3.0, but when using all the USB 3.0 I could not use HDMI, so I had to use miniDisplayPort to HDMI and it worked great for two years. Anyway, not sure if I want to purchase another wired VR headset. I have been hearing that Oculus Go along with Virtua…

Hi All, I have everything finally setup nicely in P3DV4.3 with all the 3rd party addons installed and working well. Now I’m up to the white box problem yet to be solved for the PMDG/FSL Aircraft. Two solutions so far are: (thanks to the good folks here in Avsim) 1- setting 2D panels to 100% transparency 2- undocking the white light sensor before entering VR mode For me the 100% transparency option is certainly the easiest but I loose the ability to use FS2crew pop ups. Can someone tell me how to undock the white box before entering VR? Do I need to resize the window in the aircraft panel CFG so as to see the window in non VR then ju…

I'm tempted to move closer to VR in the new P3D, I found HTC VIVE Pro in a local store but with no controllers nor position sensors (they call them stations I think), any way, the store guy told me if I want to use Pro I have to buy the first generation VIVE so I can use its full package with the Pro version, do I need controllers and location stations for P3D V4.4? isn't the head mounted thing enough for P3D in combination with my normal controllers joystick/thrust levers including mouse?

Anyone tried the new card with VR. I have an old TitanXP running a 4K Pimax and running it quite well I might add. However this new card shows a nice 18% increase in performance in most games according to a few XP vs 2080 comparison videos. Looks promising? IM

Hello, I'm quite new on VR. I used to "play" some flight sim when I was a child but as I'm not fan of videogames I stopped soon. 2 weeks ago I've received an oculus rift and now... my dream come true :P I can finally sit on a flydeck :P Anyway... sorry for the intro... At the moment I'm using x-plane 11 with oculus rift but my dream is to fly an A320. I've searched on the net to find some good a320 sim on vr but... I'm lost on all that posts and had no concrete answer. Do you have any suggestion? Just one thing... I'm looking for a sim that can perform a complete procedure from cold & dark and not just "everything on " with a button. Have a nice da…

Two new free Vr experiences are available for all you fine VR users! 😄 https://www.oculus.com/experiences/rift/1939359989460713/ “Crow: The Legend” Baobab Studios’ latest VR film is a star-studded adaptation of a Native American tale that touches on themes of diversity and inclusion. The film’s character cast includes Oprah Winfrey, John Legend, Constance Wu and Diego Luna, and its animation style is unlike anything you’ve seen in VR before. “Crow: The Legend” is now available for free on Oculus Go, Samsung Gear VR and Oculus Rift, and a non-VR version was released on YouTube this week. Next up we have: https://store.steampowered.com/app…
