Anyone know of a way to improve the overall appearance of the night sky in P3D VR? I find that the sky looks rather bright, washed out, and blueish. Reducing the HD brightness settings sort of improves the overall darkness of the sky, but then the clouds looks rather awful when contrasted against the sky. Plus, I prefer to keep the HD brightness settings up a good amount during daytime flight, else the day times end up looking too dark. I guess I'm just wondering if there's a way to "blacken" the appearance of the overall sky. Or is this simply a limitation with VR (I use Oculus)?

Hi,I I was pretty disappointed with oculus for leaving the Rift out of a revision for 2 more years until a 2.0 is out. I won´t wait another 2 years for a better resolution. I was happy with the idea of buying a revision next year and then waiting for a 2.0 release, but if it´s not going to happen I´ll jump to another HDM without looking back. Wonder how the Samsung Odissey works with P3D, and that Pimax 5+ tho I´m not sure about the quality of this once since I hear nice reviews and horrible ones the same day. The vive pro would be ideal but the price is a joke. Are you guys going to wait for a Rift 2.0 or are you going to try something new? Che…

  4. Rift’s new system software, previously known as Rift Core 2.0, is now rolling out to everyone, bringing with it a number of performance improvements, UI updates, and a more customizable Oculus Home area with support for up to eight people. First teased at Oculus Connect 5, the new update includes more performance improvements that now allow everything down to minimum spec computers to run Oculus Home and Dash smoothly. Rift Core 2.0 beta branch users have been privy to a custom home area since last year, with plenty of random items to unlock for visiting Home each week, and more recently, the ability to import your own 3D creations. But now playing games and unl…

Hi VR flyers, I have posted this question over in the Fs2Crew forum too so I apologise for the double post. However I’m hoping other VR uses may know of a solution. I always fly tub-liners with Fs2Crew, however whenever I bring up the menu bar none of the buttons are clickable. It’s like the mouse treats the bar as invisible. The only other menu I pop up routinely is GSX which is clickable and works fine. Other 2D pop ups from the Aircraft like the FMCs etc. work fine also. I have sometimes (once or twice) been able to click on the Fs2Crew menu bar but 99% of the time nothing is clickable and I need to exit VR mode to click a button. (like Briefings) I…

  9. Well I installed the latest client version of P3Dv4.2 did the usual deletes of .cfg and shader files updated all the necessary add-on stuff and everything worked fine. I then tried out the VR mode with my Oculus Rift and again all looked very good but really no different then v4.1 in Native VR mode. Then I enabled the Single Pass Rendering option in the drop down and started having very strange visual artifacts as I turned my head. Things like ships showing up in the KSAN airport and KLGA for instance they would come and go as I turned my head. Several other strange artifacts would also randomly appear in the distance or on runways as well. As soon as I toggle back to Ste…

Just keeping any interested parties up to date on the latest updates to the tray tool: https://forums.oculusvr.com/community/discussion/47247/oculus-traytool-supersampling-profiles-hmd-disconnect-fixes-hopefully/p1 From the tool creator, Apollyon UPDATE 09/25 One of thse issues i've had with OTT is the inability to run it under a normal user account. This is due to the OculusDebugTool needing more permissions, or actually, different permissions depending on the command issued. I think i may have finally solved this, thanks to @md59 pointing me in the right direction, and also doing the inital testing along with @MarkedOne. I'd like to get some more testing done…

This youtuber has a wife game enough to give it a try, with results that must be familiar to tons of us that have tried to get friends into simulation just to see them flip helplessly through the air. Actually, she does better than 95% of my friends.

  13. https://uploadvr.com/openvr-for-oculus-vr-lets-you-play-steamvr-games-through-oculus-runtime/ A VR developer just released a new platform that allows Oculus Rift owners to access SteamVR content without using SteamVR itself. Developer Campbell Suter released what’s called ‘OpenOVR’ for free on GitLab over the weekend. Currently, Rift users can access any VR content on Steam, but it’ll need to run through SteamVR and not the headset’s own platform. With OpenOVR, Rift can treat Steam content as native Oculus apps. For many people, this likely doesn’t mean much; it’s pretty easy to transition between SteamVR and native Home titles from inside the Rift (Home ev…

  15. Hi everyone, Using Oculus VR with P3D v4 is a pretty amazing experience, but it's not without its faults. First in particular are the spinning clouds that orient depending on your head positions. I'm sure this has been brought up before, but is there a way to configure P3D to orient the clouds to the plane, rather than your camera position? I believe this was achievable in FlyInside, but I don't use that anymore, as I find native VR to be of higher quality for me at this point in time. Furthermore, I find that during the night, stars tend to look rather exaggerated in the sky while using VR. Instead of subtle pinpoints of light, they tend to appear like rel…

Pretty interesting..... It seems the system requirements might not be completely out of range for most people after all. Still, I don't think I'd recommend trying it with anything short of a 1080.

  17. Hi Everyone, I tried the Rift and Odyssey last week, but decided not to use them. I uninstalled their respective programs, but now when I go into P3D, I can't open windows via the Shift+ method anymore. For example, there are number of windows in the 757-III and NGX that I use via Shift+. Does anyone know how to get things back to normal? I'm guessing this is related to my VR setup since I didn't do anything else to the sim. Thanks for your tips in advance

...Or is it just my eyesight? I've had my Oculus Rift for almost 2 weeks now and I was initially impressed. The textures were blurry but I figured I had some fettlling to do. So I fettled..and I fettled. The textures were still blurry. This particularly bad in P3Dv4.3, in DCS it's nowhere near as bad. Throughout my searches I never seen any reference to blurred textures that showed any real concern. Could this be a P3D thing or maybe my eyes need some assistance. 6700K 16gig RAM GTX1070 I've reached the point where I've had to go back to the monitor and TIR for P3D and just use VR for DCS This obviously isn't a screenshot but one I've PSed to give the …

Howdy folks, I'm new to VR and am trying to get everything set up properly. Is there a way to make the cursor move better while in VR? As it stands now, I need to hold still so the cursor doesn't move away while I try to position the mouse to be able to click things. It's not at all intuitive, and the lag, sensitivity or whatever you want to call it is driving me bonkers. I tried flyinside, and I like it, but I also like chaseplane, and I want to run both, but as it stands now, running both at the same time gives me trouble. Any ideas how I can fix this, so the mouse cursor moves with more fluidity or independent from what I'm staring at at the time when I don't…

  25. Started by Iceman2,

I’ve had to add an Affinity Mask to the P3DV4.3 CFG in order to stop the odd blurries appearing. But in doing so when I go to VR mode it appears that all the software required to run VR (Vive background software) are all running off of the same cores and threads as requested in the P3D CFG AM setting. I’ve manually selected all cores for the VR software but haven’t noticed any performance boost, I’ve even selected the cores and threads that P3D is not using but once again didn’t really see any difference. I don’t have many background programmes running except for the Networked EFB data programme everything else runs on a second computer. I’m interested to k…
