Hi Captains, Few days ago I decided (too) to get into the world of low-cost VR flying experience (and yes, since then I fly less and tweak & test more) - using my android smartphone and a cheapo adjustable HMD. My question to you - more seasoned VR users - is what works best for you in terms of head tracking? I tried out the following: 1) Connection: I connected PC and smartphone through wifi hotspot (my smartphone does not connect via USB as the connector is damaged ; fortunately it still charges) - OK. 2) 3D effect: Depth3D reshade effect (free) - it needs some tweaking and setting but gives a nice not-too-exaggerated 3D effect - OK. 3) Stre…

Hello ! It's been two days that I have my CV1 and I use it with Flyinside, the resolution is a problem in the PMDG 747, do you think it's a good decision to take a Pimax and return my CV1? Thanks!

Hey guys for Christmas, I got my first ever VR headset the Samsung Odyssey. Link: https://www.samsung.com/us/computing/hmd/windows-mixed-reality/xe800zaa-hc1us-xe800zaa-hc1us/ So far I have it installed and can navigate the Microsoft Cliff House, and see the large hangar in XP11. I also fly P3D v4.1 but have NOT been able to use VR there for whatever reason I am not sure as I only have about 3 days time in this. Couple questions somewhat related to simming and general use. I am not interested in the cartoony style VR shoot space ship games, however I would like to know is it possible to view local and internet content with this? Example, I have se…

I am looking to build a PC just for FSX. I would like to run FSX on maxed out settings with AI, and lots of scenery addons, aircraft addons and weather addons, at a high FPS count and good graphics. I have heard that it is not recommended to buy a prebuilt one, but what about an XForce PC, or Digital Storm, or even one of Jetline Systems PC’s? Below are some links to some PCs I was looking at. For the Jetliner Systems PCs, I was going to get the best option for each one even if it costs over $8000. I Doubt I will be getting a laptop, but I will list the good gaming ones I found anyway. •http://jetlinesystems.com/product/gravity-mini-3/ •http:…

Just a heads up for Oculus Rift users, the new Dash and Home environment (Rift Core 2.0) will be released on the Oculus public test channel today. Here's how to join public test channel: https://support.oculus.com/200468603765391/ The virtual computing capabilities of Oculus Dash are pretty exciting, some features are particularly interesting for flightsims. However, P3D would require an update (full native Rift support) in order to be able to use dash features. This would allow us to finally use one of flyinside's best features in native P3D VR: Placing any type of content directly into your VR environment, be it other apps/addons (running outside of P3D…

https://www.forbes.com/sites/paullamkin/2017/11/30/virtual-reality-headset-sales-hit-1-million/#3f8a02c42b61 The virtual reality revolution continues at a pace, with shipments topping 1 million in a quarter for the first time. For Q3 2017, industry analyst Canalys states that Sony led the way with 490,000 shipments of its PlayStation VR headset, followed by Facebook’s Oculus Rift device with 210,00 shipments and HTC’s Vive headset in third place with 160,000 shipments. That combined 860,000 makes up 86 percent of the market, with other (often smartphone powered headsets) such as Samsung’s Gear VR and Google’s Daydream range making up the rest. Previously, s…

Hello all, Im still pretty new to VR -- trying to find a good settings/performance balance along with learning all the ins/outs of the technology. Running Oculus Rift on P3Dv4 using FI and tray tool. I feel like I have a pretty good understanding of using FI and tray tool at this point. Things seem to run stable/smooth during the beginning of a flight up until I climb through about 25-30 thousand feet; performance then gets really erratic. Monitoring the performance in the HUD built into Tray Tool has my sim FPS and performance headroom values jumping all over the place.. performance headroom drops as low as -150%. Graphically this equates to lots of flashin…

"We’ve got some big updates to VR coming in 4.1, so stay tuned." "we have a strong team focus on immersive technology and virtual reality" "We believe the future of VR is bright, especially in the training and simulation space. We are excited to see where things go from here. One of our primary goals has always been providing the most immersive training experience possible. VR takes immersion to the next level" "Flight simulations are definitely an ideal situation for VR and Prepar3D is focused on being the best flight simulation VR platform available" Will be released October 10th that´s what the prepar3d team said in their AMA on reddit t…

So, there are growing number of choices and potential choices for the eager would-be virtual reality flyer out there right now. The perennial favorite is of course the Oculus Rift, but close behind (at least for flight sims) is the HTC vive. Then, we have promising outliers like the Pimax, which has turned a lot of heads, and racing up from the rear, Windows mixed reality, henceforth known as WMR. I think the pluses and minuses of the Oculus and Rift are well known at this point, and the Pimax is still a bit of a work in progress, I'll be primarily discussing WMR here, and specifically the Samsung Odyssey, which is certainly more expensive than offerings from th…

I've heard different stories about VR flightsim. Some say it's a gift from god, others say "meh, fun in the beginning..." What's your opinion? I get the feeling that VR and flightsim has not yet launched? Is it because of the resolution-thing? Or the hardware required? Or the fact that the honeymoon is shorter than expected? Or is it simply downright awesome? Any thoughts? I would LOVE to hear that it is still amazing...but please be honest!

Hi, Has anyone worked out what causes P3Dv4 to freeze ever so often when in VR. I don’t get these freezes when simming with the 4K TV but pop into VR and I’ll see the freezes again. I assume it’s related to P3Dv4 needing to catch up. thanks IM

Related to flight training but for mechanics right now. My sense is that it is commercial and military development that will take us from the current hobbyist VR technology. http://www.airbus.com/newsroom/press-releases/en/2017/11/airbus-develops-worlds-first-mixed-reality-trainer-for-a350-xwb.html https://aerotime.aero/en/civil/20388-airbus-to-try-out-mixed-reality-training-on-jal-s-a350-xwbs

Has anyone seen any advantage hooking up SLI for VR use. I read here on the forms that the headset passes through the GPU as if unnoticed, therefore even the NI control panel is useless. Does this mean SLI will not deliver more FPS horsepower to the headset. I’m so love’n P3Dv4.1 Native VR for its awesomeness and vision clarity, but I keep wanting more and it frustrates me when I need to use Flyinside when I elect to fly a PMDG aircraft into a 3rd party airport. Obviously Flyinside gives me a smooth ride at the cost of resolution. Which is like going from an flat screen TV to an old CRT box TV which some of you kids have only seen in museums. LM sorta …

Was looking around the Steam VR store and saw that flight sims (Aerofly FS2 and X-Plane 11) were in the new and trending section. I have always been interested in flight sims but never really got round to it ... I've been playing Elite Dangerous on and off for years with my X-55 Hotas and Oculus Rift and really enjoyed it. So after seeing the ads in the steam trending charts I did some digging around and saw the post here on X-Plane 11 & FlyInside and realised that I forgot I had kickstarted FlyInside way back in 2015 ... I was an early backer too #28! I am ready to dedicate some time to a flight sim but I don't know where to start and what is best. I'm…
