Title says it all. Anyone tried yet? I only did a quick 5 minute test on the ground in the PMDG NGX. Touch controller support is a great idea but not really usable in its current state. Other than that, I didn't notice many changes.

Too bad, but not a real shocker. Story studio did amazing things, but Oculus was giving it all away for free. It's not surprising that they are moving on to other ways to create VR movies as well. https://www.oculus.com/blog/the-next-chapter-of-creative-development-in-vr/ This was so awesome in 3D!

A very nice example of the "Edutainment" possibilities of VR. Worth a look! Warning: Contains Spoilers (but his reactions are really cool)

So now this is a game that explores the true potential of VR. Sure it can be done in 2D, but 2D will never give you the immersion of having the cockpit completely surround you, nor the sheer sense of scale that can't currently be conveyed any other way. In VR, that huge Star Destroyer appears completely life size, and until you've been in VR and actually seen that, you can't ever really appreciate the sensation. Plus of course there's the thrill of actually piloting an X-wing....... Slowly but surely as developers grasp the essentials of working in this new medium, more and more worthy titles are appearing, making the decision to jump into VR easier and easier as the…

I think we all knew when facebook purchased Oculus that they probably had in mind something to tie social networking into VR, and probably cross-link in some way with facebook. Well, here's what is likely the first step! Immediately, my mind conjures up images of simmers getting to gather in exotic virtual locations in large VR get togethers. The forums of the future?

Google Earth VR is now available in the Oculus Store meaning for any Oculus Rift users you no longer need to mess around with the HTC Vive version found in Steam. Haven't had the chance to try it out myself yet but looking forward to! To me this is one of the most amazing VR apps I've tried so far being able to go anywhere in the world in VR to check out places, airports, landmarks or whatever. Not everything will be in full 3D/VR but I guess/hope the coverage will be improving as we move along. If you have the VR gear I highly recommend you try this one out if you haven't already.

From wikipedia: Mixed reality (MR), sometimes referred to as hybrid reality,[1] is the merging of real and virtual worlds to produce new environments and visualizations where physical and digital objects co-exist and interact in real time. Mixed reality takes place not only in the physical world or the virtual world,[1] but is a mix of reality and virtual reality, encompassing both augmented reality and augmented virtuality.[2] Funny stuff. I tried walking the plank too, but even knowing in my heart that it wasn't real, I couldn't make myself jump off. Shows how much control our instincts have over us. The graphics are early Nintendo, but that doesn't matter. The sen…

...or at least that is what it feels like after I bought a pair of Oculus Rift glasses and the FlyInside software. I know there's already been a number of threads about this but I still felt this urge to share my experience with all you guys and I think the topic sums it all up very well because that is really what it feels like that I actually got my own real 737-800 that I can fly when ever and where ever I like...it's amazing!!! I've tried some VR stuff before when my son got a pair of VR glasses with his Samsung mobile so I knew some of what it would be like but I could never have imagined what it would be like to use these Oculus Rift glasses in P3D and the N…

I just discovered how to fly VR by right clicking and then clicking VRVC. With FI I had to greatly reduce all settings, and was still getting a lot of zooms, but with native VR with fairly high settings I was flying with several detailed AC including PMDG 737 at ORBX LOWI with no OOMs. There does not seem to be any features that I could find to zoom or whatever, but having the higher settings is sure nice. I'll search and see if I can find a manual on P3D native VR.

Swedish physician and researcher Dr. Magnus Strabismus of the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Lund has published a paper in the Journal of Ophthalmological Letters ( 34:3 2314-2319) which demonstrates how to obtain vertigo-free 3D viewing of videos and still images without the aid of a Virtual Reality headset: https://michaelscroggins.wordpress.com/explorations-in-stereoscopic-imaging/learn-the-cross-eye-free-viewing-technique/ The technique is simple and requires about 10 minutes per day of training for a period of several weeks. The technique is based on retraining the brain to allow immediate comprehension of screen-based 3D images. Dr. Stra…

I flr in VR using my cell phone,Rift Cat, Vridge, Flyinside, and SteamVR, I do have the Oculus Rift software installed. How can I switch from using VR to Track IR in 2D? I clicked on the regular P3D icon to start P3D for a test flight of Lowi, in 2D (In VR I'd have to set the settings real low and I want to fly it in 2D first) and as before VR I started T-IR first. Oculus Rift and Steam VR kept popping up after starting P3D, and I kept closing them, and never could get T-IR to work.

I have searched numerous directories, checked dll.xmls, etc and I cannot STOP these two from loading in P3D. They both start 2-4 times while the sim is initiating, then whenever I change a plane or scenario. After a few times SteamVR refses to quit so Task Manager needs to close it. Can anyone tell me how to stop this?? At present I am trying VR in FSX Steam and not P3D. Thanks for attention Neal H

Anyone who's used the Oculus touch controllers or the Vive equivalent has probably noticed that with all the twisting and ducking as well as pointing weapons every which way, you can actually get a bit of a workout in VR. Not to mention mountain climbing simulations and etc. Now it gets even better with a growing number of devices like the one below that immerse you even deeper...... And push the workout potential up a few notches. The holodeck is on its way. Stop complaining about your knees, you slackers!

I would have placed this poll in the VR forum, but if you even know where that is, you've probably already selected as somebody with a higher than average interest. What I want is the views of the average forum denizen, checking in for the latest, while sipping his/her coffee

May be a while for a FI moderator to approve my post there and then even longer to get an answer. FI with P3D is working perfect, I bought the full program. But with the XP demo in XP11 I see a curved screen in front of me, I am not in the cockpit. I am sure I am missing a setting but cannot find it, please help me get into the VR VC. Thank you. I am going to put this in the VR forum also.

So finally I had some time to try the Oculus with FlyInside. Here is a quick list of pros and cons from my first impressions: Pros The feeling of actually being in the cockpit is just amazing. You cannot compare that in any way to a 2D monitor. In VR you really have the feeling of sitting in a tight cockpit just like the real one (I did most of the testing in the PMDG NGX and 777). After that experience, the VC on a 2D monitors just looks completely wrong in terms of dimensions and "feel". The fact that everything is in 3D is stunning to say the least. All switches, the entire panel, the outside world, everything looks so "lively". And when you look out o…
