Having read that Flyinside is now updated to work with X-Plane 11.10 b6, I updated both (and xEnviro) and had my first Oculus Rift experience last night with the new updates. Firstly I should add that when I got Flyinside, XP 11.10 and xEnviro to work together, the result was hands down my best ever simming experience. I flew at sunset with overcast conditions over EIDW (Dublin) and it was breathtaking. Added to this I had World Traffic v3 running and was circling around EIDW in my Baron just watching planes land. Wow...the lighting of xEnviro blew my mind. I can't wait until it all works properly in VR (especially having to pretty much do voodoo to get xEnviro to work in…

Ever since I saw the Samsung odyssey VR HMD and its specs, i've been interested, but since that headset uses Windows windows mixed reality, essentially nothing I have would be compatible with it at first, or potentially, ever! I thought that was a pretty big misstep on the part of Microsoft and its partners, and it seems they agree. It also seems you will need a Nvidia 1070 or greater, to join the club..... And will Oculus permit access to its walled garden, as well? Excerpt: https://vrworld.com/2017/11/11/steamvr-preview-coming-windows-mixed-reality-requires-higher-specs/

hey guys, using HTC vive for VR in 747 on Prepar3d with active sky w/ active sky cloud art One eye in VR seems to be void of all effects, including Landing/ Taxi lighting and cockpit lighting, as well as 3rd party effects such as active sky cloud art Seems like a problem that likely many have encountered and is not that difficult to fix ( im not well versed in computers, and your particular ways to deliver amazing function of VR to us, but the problem is silly and incredibly annoying) Thank you PMDG developers for giving us VR capability. On my vive it feels completely different to flying with my curved 3440p samsung display. take offs are more excitin…

Hello there, I like the mono vr mode in p3d because I have a gtx 970 and learning the ngx 737 and some nice weather effect cause stuttering in stereo mode. The mono mode doubles the fps so that is cool. The size of the cockpit however is gigantic and that does not attribute to the immersion. But to be honest I am getting used to that. The problem however is that when turning your head the cockpot moves slightly different from the outside world. I think it has somethin tot do with zoomfactormbut I did not manage to change that! Is there a way to decrease the cockpit size and adjust the zoom ( maybe ezdok or chase plane) in mono vr. I am using oculus rift btw... …

Dear flight friends, Using the native vr in p3d v4.1 for a few weeks. I do not see a menu while wearing my oculus so I have to take it of every time I change airport, weather, time graphics settings etc..... I read some people having issues with nvidia drivers and the vr menu. Do they mean the option to choose vr in the menu on the monitor or do they mean a menu that is actually visible inside the head set??? Thanks for your thoughts and happy flying everyone! Jozeff

I used to be a heavy flight simmer some 10-15 years ago. Spent waaaay too much time behind the yoke and FS 2002 + LevelD 767 (and even a full motion simulator for my 30's birthday!). Good times! Been under the ice since then and have just recently "woken up" in my mid 40's and realized...wait a minute...flightsim was really fun...right? So...having all this said I am about to invest in a brand new system with VR. Starting from scratch. My local dealer is suggesting a Ryzen 1600 system with a 1070 GTX. SSD and 16 Gb 3000 Mhz RAM. Would this be enough to run Xplane 11 and/or Aerofly FS2 on VR with average+ settings? Or should I go for a faster system? I know Aerof…

A little bit of insight maybe on some future VR tech direction: https://www.roadtovr.com/samsungs-new-vr-display-nearly-3-5x-pixels-rift-vive/ This is especially interesting as Samsung and Oculus/Facebook seem to be near a parting of the ways: Samsung gravitating into the Microsoft orbit with its new Samsung Odyssey, and Oculus, perhaps insulating itself from that possibly impending split, coming out with the Oculus GO, which is fully compatible with all Samsung Gear VR titles without actually requiring a Samsung phone. Now the interesting thing is that Samsung is the supplier of the Oculus displays. I wonder will it supply these new displays to Oculus, or keep …

I used the Win 10 app uninstall function to uninstall my old HTC Vive software. It is not under apps in settings anymore. However it still shows up as my vr option in Steam. I do not know how to get rid of all vive files, they seem to be in several places. I would very much appreciate your help with that.

Can anyone help me find a fix, or is anyone else having the same problem? When I run ASN while using Flyinside I loose all the low level clouds. I can set low level clouds from within the weather menu in SIM but as soon as ASN is started I'll only get the cirrus clouds and no low level clouds. If I start P3Dv4 normally (without Flyinside) I still have no low level clouds. I have reinstalled P3Dv4.1 and ASN works fine and I have low level clouds again but as soon as I run Flyinside the clouds are gone and I will need to reinstall P3D all over again. (Clearing the shaders does not fix it.) thanks IM

Hello all, I'm strongly considering running over to BB this morning to purchase an Oculus Rift setup. I've tried it on a buddies setup using Aerofly and was blown away with the immersion. The lower resolution doesn't really bother me all that much (sense of actually sitting there and depth perception makes up for it imo). I am running P3Dv4.1 currently with my new PC (specs in signature). After doing some reading, the only thing that concerns me is being able to run in native VR with smooth FPS. If I have to sacrifice a bunch of settings to get that, i'll probably hold off. The best part of upgrading to P3D for me was the shadows/lighting improvements and i…

Folks spend $20 -$100 plus to mount their Oculus sensors permanently on the wall. The reason for this is that placing the stands on a table allows them to move about, and even a tiny amount of movement can alter the view within Oculus. I looked at many various mounts with many ways to mount them and decided to see if it could be done on a budget. So for $2.46 I bought some small angle brackets with screws included, and for less than a dollar bought some 1/4 x 20 bolts with slotted round heads and everyone has washers around the house. I could easily paint the angles black, but they are mostly hidden from view by the sensors. So for less than three…

After updating FlyInside to 1.83 to work in X-Plane 11.10b5 and 6, (thak you FlyInside), I no longer get the fps listed at the top of the monitor window. FPS never did show up in the HMD but did show up on the monitor before 1.83 and the 11.10b. Does anyone else have this problem? Not a bad problem as the FPS do show up with the FlyInside tag, just wondering.

After much internal debate, I decided whilst on holidays in Las Vegas to take advantage of purchasing the Oculus Rift bundle at Best Buy (far easier and cheaper to get a hold of than here in Europe). And Holy Smokes...was it a good idea. Like many, I was on the fence about VR wondering if it is just 'another' gimic or fad that we see every few years. And for some it may be a fad but for flight simmers, gamers, and technology enthusiasts, it is mind blowing. My biggest fear was the resolution question which some have complained about in terms of reading text/dials etc. As far as the graphics go the resolution is not an issue. Everything looks awesome at least if you h…

Fellow Pilots, Can someone point me to the best settings for both the RIFT and P3DV4 in order to optimize the experience. I have a fairly powerful machine so I'm looking for settings that would best optimize graphics and clarity in the cockpit. Thanks! Stephen Luebbert

Any thoughts in this forum about the windows mixed reality headsets? Most people think they're actually augmented reality, but they're not at all. MS has created a lot of unnecessary confusion. Seem like 1440p or 1600p (samsung) resolution options from different vendors that are releasing today or in the next couple of weeks. FlyInside forum says they're going to be testing them out, but I'm curious if these are real options for simmers. Any opinions? Thanks, sg

So I tried VR with P3D and my entire outlook on flight simming has changed. It's very difficult to explain in words just how immersive of a VR experience P3D is. I had watched a lot of youtube videos before I decided to make the plunge but even those videos really didn't capture the essence of the experience. I explained it to a friend the other day as "the closest thing to flying that I'll ever do while sitting in my garage" and that about sums it up. You really do "feel" like you're in the aircraft in a way that a monitor (even a multi monitor setup w/ trackIR) can't replicate. Doing simple aviation tasks like flying a pattern or even taxiing provides a renewe…

An experiment: Vr stereo pairs in Aerofly FS2. But how many people can cross their eyes just right to see them? Anyway, this is to give non-vr users a taste of the vr experience (if this even works!) (You might have to shrink the page or sit back a bit to get convergence)

Inside the cockpit it is truly wondrous. I felt that I was back inside some of the planes I've flown. However, I cannot manage a long flight with the gear. As fascinating as VR is I'm back to plain old flight and my full Oculus Rift/Touch combo is listed in the For Sale forum Neal Howard

I have changed the New World Scale Value to 95 because to me it looks better. But does anyone know how or where to change this value in Native P3Dv4.1 VR. (without FI) Sometimes I like to just use native P3D VR and miss the scale adjustment.. IM
