Hello all, I think the time has come for me to finally bite the bullet with VR. A couple of questions first though. 1. Is it possible to use Occulus Rift or Pimax 4k with FS2004? I do not believe there is any native VR built in to FS2004 so I would have to use FlyInside as well I think. Hardware specs (below) Is this set up ok for FS2004 initially? See para 3. 2. Would my hardware support VR and what else would I need? I am hoping to use mouse in lieu of controllers and I need to know if this aspect is viable. 3. Ultimately, I want to migrate to P3Dv4 and/or XPlane 11 but I think a hardware upgrade is going to be required first. Again, my specs …

Can anyone recommend some cloud texture packages that look really great in VR - especially just above cloud tops (or maybe still a little bit below the actual peaks). I don't care about realtime weather - just the great visuals. Thanks Dave W.

Just a heads up about Discovering Space, a nice and visually arresting Vr exploration of the solar system that can be done through preprogrammed "tours" via autopilot, or with manual control. Allows users to fly right down to planetary surfaces, with educational computer narration of relevant facts and figures. I thought it was actually a steal at the current sale price of $5 Might be worth a look, VR fans!

Please allow me to introduce myself: I am a professional software developer, and have been "Flight Simming" since the mid 1980s. I'd like to share my recent experience of having a new PC purpose built for Prepar3d / FlyInside / Oculus Rift, and what I found works (for my system) in terms of tweaks etc (they are few). I should disclose that I took a break from the hobby for roughly 8 years after my then gaming rig bit the dust. This was around the time FSX had been released, and I was slowing migrating over from FS2004. When I tried an Oculus Rift, at a local big box store, I bought it immediately and set about trying to get a Flight Sim up and running in V…

Hello all, As stated previously I am seriously considering the switch from FS2004 to using VR (Occulus Rift?) My question is, whilst I have both the P3Dv4 and XPlane 11, and when purchased I can utilise both sims, which of these programmes would I get the most benefit? 1. I believe XPlane has the better scenery options, ie Ortho4xp, but P3Dv4 is very much better with aircraft options and system complexity. 2. I know that both are now Native VR and whilst both are still being developed, I think in the final versions they will be very much comparable. 3. I fly mostly tube liners so VFR scenery is not exactly important but I do want good imaging from…

I have an opportunity to borrow an Oculus Rift for a few weeks. Like many of you, I've been reluctant to purchase as I'm not sure whether I'd like the experience or not, and I'm not really looking to use it for anything other than flight sims, predominantly P3Dv4.1 at this point. I thought I'd share my experience with the rest of you fence-sitters. I'm running P3Dv4.1 with a ton of addons (VoxATC for ATC [and AI using MyTraffic6.0a models], OrbX global, terrain, vector, NALC, regions, airports, ActiveSky for P3D, ASCA and PTA). My hardware is an I7-7700k @4.8ghz, 32gb RAM, GTX 1080. I ran a bunch of aborted flights to tweak in VR, but for this first complete flight, I…

I am using Prepar3D 4.1 with an Oculus Rift and did my first night flight with the PMDG 737 and noticed that I could not see the landing lights in VR. They did not illuminate the ground and I double checked that I had the display setting checked "landing lights illuminate the ground." I also tried other aircraft, the PMDG 777, the TFDi 717, and some GA planes and none of them showed the landing light on the ground. Do landing/taxi lights not show up in VR or is there something I am missing?

https://www.roadtovr.com/oculus-hiring-spree-suggests-facebook-is-accelerating-vr-ar-plans/ Starting toward the end of 2017, the number of listed job openings at Oculus has nearly tripled, with the current number of openings floating around an all time high. Across Oculus’ 15 locations, the company is currently listing 443 available openings, spanning 20 categories from Research to Software Engineering to Computer Vision, and more. The number of openings has spiked significantly since November, data collected from the last 20 months by Road to VR shows. The spike comes at the end of 2017 and into the New Year. While that might coincide with annual budg…

Hi to all who read this, which I hope someone does. I don't know how many of you out there have experience using VR stuff although I hope there are a lot. I am a first timer to this forum with a very unusual problem (even for VR standards). I am quite experienced with both FSX(SE) and Xplane11 but have thrown the towel in on this one. I have recently just installed a fresh copy of FSX/SE along with all of my ORBX bell and whistles. I than installed and configured "flyinside FSX" for flying VR on my Oculus Rift. But then, When I run FlyInside FSX (enter VR mode), and run any Free flight, Mission etc., I CAN here the ATC chatter but NO engine sound on any aircraft once…

I have been thinking about VR but a bit daunted by the cost. I recently heard about using Google Cardboard and my mobile phone. I am thinking of getting this one https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Google-Cardboard-25mm-lens-with-NFC-Tag-and-Head-Strap-/181916586668?_trksid=p2141725.m3641.l6368. Once I download the Google cardboard app onto my phone, is this all I need or is there other software I need? Now I realise that it is pretty unsophisticated and is probably very low tech, but I just want to see if it will work and get a taste of basic VR before I invest any serious money. Thanks for any replies. John

Inside the Cockpit I see more than one set of each button and they are floating too. I think it require floor adjustment /fix, but I have no idea where to look for this feature Besides, I have lot of stuttering & everything is blurry, tried all kind of graphic configurations but so fare no luck Any thoughts ?? Cheers

I have to ask how you would rate VR smoothness in Aerofly FS 2. I recently got what I would rate a very good gaming computer + Rift in order to enjoy VR flights for the first time. But my impression so far is... Meh. It's not about the resolution, I am fine with that. It's the nervous rendering of frames and micro-stutters. The entire world I am viewing in cockpit feels...well...nervous and jumpy. Difficult to explain. It's not solid. My FPS are on 90 according to the Rift application and I assume ASW is active. But here's the thing... it doesn't really get smoother if I reduce graphic settings to minimum either. Or if I pick an area with minimal surroundings.…

So, apparently HTC screwed up and released info on a new Vive being released and then took down the info, but of course, nothing's ever really gone from the internet, once you post it: http://comicbook.com/gaming/2018/01/08/htc-vive-pro-leak/ HTC’s new Vive Pro VR device and other details appear to have been leaked ahead of their official reveal. Originally spotted in an article from the German site VR-Nerds, HTC’s new Vive Pro headset will apparently be revealed fairly soon. The article was published and taken down today, but not before watchful readers spotted it in a Google search and shared an archive link of the original article on Reddit. Redditor Jar…

I have a weird problem. When i try to add a new profile say DCS.exe it does not show up in the menu after adding it. I tried reinstalling OTT to no effect and reinstalling Oculus itself to no effect. Anyone else have had the issue and found out how to fix it? OTT is 0.82.1 And Oculus program is latest version. Regards Mike

Hi I originally posted this in he PMDG737NGX section but in hindsight that was maybe too specific. This is a problem I have with accessing the Cockpit controls in the PMDG737NGX in FSX:SE whilst using the Oculus Rift, FlyInside and Leap Motion. Is it a Leap Motion problem, A FlyInside Problem, or a PMDG737NGX problem. Basically I am trying to start the PMDG737NGX from Cold & Dark using my hands in the cockpit with Leap Motion. Most of the swiches, dials, etc seem to work ok (although some can be quite annoying to operate!). However there are some of the switches that I just cannot get to work at all. 1. Transfer the APU Power to BUS 2. T…
