I acquired an Oculas Rift yesterday and have been experimenting...I have to say, I'm not sure how I would want to go back to multiple screens after the experience...I am still dependent on my joystick and throttle controllers as I am not sure how anyone can use the Rift controllers to do anything with the multitude of buttons and switches. My only problem was when aligning with the runway , moving side to side with some rudder, I got a little air sick !!!!!!! Had to take em off to recover while on pause...!

Recently, I've encountered a problem using Oculus native VR in P3D v4, where when I make sudden head or aircraft movements, the scenery/virtual cockpit graphics show a "tearing" phenomenon. I do not recall encountering this problem before. I'm unsure if some Nvidia update, add on, or other kind of update has resulted in this issue, but I'm wondering if anyone else has encountered it, and can offer a solution (perhaps adjusting a Nvidia control panel setting, config setting, or P3D graphics setting). The actual head movements in VR "feel" smooth, so that is not an issue. Nor is FPS really an issue. Actually turning the aircraft for example, is rather smooth.

  5. I have the rift and did a flight with a vanilla P3D v4.3. Using the mouse was ok, still cannot get any ATC window to show in VR. Also, was wondering if anybody is using the Oculus touches in P3D v4.3 and if so how is the experience? Also, do you need to connect both left and right or can I just connect the right controler? Left hand on the joystick and right hand using Oculus touch. Thanks in advance realkewl

https://www.cnet.com/news/oculus-rift-releases-spheres-peak-outer-space-vr-movie-that-landed-a-seven-figure-deal/ Spheres, the virtual-reality experience that made waves earlier this year when it landed VR's first seven-figure distribution deal, is breaking out of the film-festival circuit and is now available for public consumption: The three-chapter series debuted for $9.99 on Facebook's Oculus Rift VR headset Tuesday. So far, scarcity of quality VR content has been a persistent weakness crimping virtual reality's growth. VR has been one of the buzziest tech areas in the last five years, as giants such as Sony, HTC, Samsung, Google and Oculus have poured reso…

  8. https://www.roadtovr.com/holiday-deal-brings-new-samsung-odyssey-vr-headset-just-300/ Samsung Odyssey+ is the company’s latest VR headset, and while it launched just a few weeks ago for $500, the Korean tech giant is throwing it on sale this Black Friday at a 40% discount. The deal is set to start online at Samsung.com on November 18th, slashing the headset to just $300, controllers included. As a hardware refresh of last year’s Windows VR headset Odyssey HMD, there’s a few notable changes in the latest version. The biggest change to the Odyssey+ is undoubtedly its new “anti-SDE” display treatment that’s said to visibly reduce screen door effect (…

Am using FlyInside + FSX SE + Rift (runtime 1.x) + Win 10 Home Ed. When I start the OTT (right click run as admin) and change to 45 FPS with ASW of 45 FPS without ASW. I can see in the sim that that has been changed. However, when changing pixel override from 0 to 1.5 or even higher like 1.6.1.7.1.8.1.9 or 2.0 I do not see a significant change in resolution of sharpness improvement in the sim. Does this even work in this combination? Should it work, Am I missing something? Thanks.

All, I have P3Dv4 running with an 8Gb GTX1070 . When running P3d through my monitor with live traffic, scenery add-ons, AS weather and 3rd party aircraft I get pretty good frame performance. Using my Rift, it typically drops 10-20% +/-. Is there anyone who sims and has a configuration using the Rift where you get consistently better performance in the say 20+ FPS area? I've been thinking about adding a second graphics card and converting my system to SLI graphics. Any of you have any positive or negative experiences either way? Thanks, Howard

https://uploadvr.com/valve-135-vr-headset-half-life/ Images of a prototype VR headset with a Valve logo visible on the circuit board leaked on the image sharing website imgur. Our independent sources tell us these are in fact prototypes for an upcoming Valve HMD. We’ve also heard the field of view will be 135° with “Vive Pro resolution.” It may also come bundled with ‘Knuckles’ controllers as well as a Half-Life based VR game that could be a prequel rather than the much-anticipated Half-Life 3. Valve currently does not sell a VR headset. Instead, the company partnered with HTC to release the Vive in 2016, and then HTC released the higher end ‘Vive Pro’…

  20. https://www.pcgamer.com/lenovos-vr-headset-is-just-dollar100-right-now/ Most of the fun in VR comes from moving around, whether that's swinging swords in Skyrim or moving pieces on a game board. But if you'd rather play all your games with a standard keyboard or gamepad, this is a solid deal. The Lenovo Mixed Reality headset (without motion controllers) is just $99.99 at B&H right now. The headset has a total resolution of 2880x1440 (1440x1440 per eye), with a 110-degree FOV. Since this is a Windows Mixed Reality headset, it can play just about every SteamVR game, in addition to VR titles on the Windows Store. Make sure you double-check the system requi…

What settings are you guys using to get a smooth experience with the rift. I allways get microstutters and my frame rate is halfed when using the rift . GTX 1070 smooth outside of vr . I can turn all setting on rift down and same in sim still cant get it smooth . Assuming it may be because my monitor and rift work at two different refresh rates. Any help appreciated.

  22. Probably not for the kiddies, but a great showcase of the use of Virtual reality as a new media for storytelling. This, and AAA virtual experiences like Senua's sacrifice, show content creators steadily increasing sophistication in expanding and exploring the boundaries of virtual reality! Costs about $5.99 in the Oculus store or on Steam

My own tests have shown very good results in VR for X-plane on a 2080ti, and its nice to see somebody else experiencing pretty much the same thing. No more stutter-fest?
