3. https://www.theverge.com/2017/7/10/15943984/oculus-rift-touch-summer-sale-price-cut-vr-bundle The Oculus Rift and Oculus Touch are getting a big (but temporary) price drop: for the next six weeks, the VR headset and motion controller bundle will sell for $399, nearly a $200 discount to the normal price. It’s part of Oculus’ summer-long attempt to promote the Rift, now that it’s been out for over a year. According to Oculus VP of content Jason Rubin, the sale is meant to draw people who “may have been sitting on the sideline because of price,” and entice people who may not have been considering the Rift to look at its growing app and game library. The summer sale…

  4. I just received my order of the Oculus Rift VR-Lens shown in the video above and after trying both the Vr-lenslab inserts and the Vr-Lenslab Virtual reality glasses, third time's the charm!!!!! https://vr-lens.eu/ These things are perfect. Perfect perfect, perfect!! They are exactly what I wanted from the other two purchases and didn't quite get. These things click quite firmly into the Oculus, with an authority that tells me that they are not coming out or moving by the slightest hair unless I happen to throw the hmd to the ground. The quality and clarity of the lenses is amazing, and the Oculus image has never seemed so sharp and in-focus. They click down …

HI Folks, My specs:intel(R) core i3_2100 CPU @3.10 GHZ RAM 4.00 GB 64Bit Nvida GE Force 9400 GT. Impressed yet? My question, would it improve my performance to up grade my GPU with my poor little CPU or would it be like putting a heavy duty transmission on a Corolla? Question two, from a cost benefit perspective would it be feasible to go to my MOM and POP fix it store and up grade both CPU @GPU as opposed to buying a entire new computer from Sam Bo's or Wally World big box store? Retired and on a pension so trying to be $$ smart. Thanks,Vic G.

  9. Carenado claims that their X plane 11 B1900 was optimised for VR. I will say that is true of all of the switches. But if you want to use the GPS it will have to be on your 2D monitor, as this video shows... https://www.twitch.tv/videos/156204545

  10. I'm having an issue with Aerosoft (Sim-Wings) products such as Malaga, Palma de Mallorca and Menorca where it looks like the yellow taxiway lines, the red lines on the apron by the gates etc are all "floating" a couple of meters above the actual ground/terrain. I only see this problem along the taxiways and the aprons while the runways don't seem to be affected. Also I only see this in VR. Looking at a normal 2D display I don't see the same effect. I guess reason for my issue might be I'm still on P3Dv3.2.3 because I noticed a similar issue with Aerosoft Rome and was told this was because I'm on P3Dv3.2 and they used some ground textures technique in the P3D SDK only…

  11. Abhishek Singh recreated a life size Super Mario Bros. level and played it wearing HoloLens in New York's Central Park. He did this all dressed as Mario and he filmed the augmented reality experience. Singh built this experience in Unity3D and the video was recorded entirely through the HoloLens with no post production. Read more: https://uploadvr.com/super-mario-bros-ar-hololens/ So how cool is that?

  13. Hey all, It has been a very long time since I have posted anything on Avsim. This was due to me focusing on my work goals etc. Now, certain time has been freed up and I can allocate limited time to experience simming again). Rift Changes everything You all need to jump on the VR bandwagon. Once you go inside the airplane, any monitor usage for simming or any game is just plane lame. And I have 6 4K monitors for work use. Monitors are great for work but everything else VR is the Future and the Future is here. My first experience with getting the Raptor with default scenery - I was screaming profanities left and right $%$^, holy #%#%, F#%#, D#%#%, mot#%…

  14. Decided to take the plunge on VR, despite seeing reports of the resolution difference.. I initially was going with the Oculus Rift, it remained unopened (which i'm now selling)... but since I do a lot of gaming in a room that has a large area, i opted for the Vive.. So here are some specs on what I have at the moment.. My main flying rig is located in an office/den area of my house that is in total about 10 x 12 with a much smaller area for actual VR space (maybe 6 foot wide by 4 foot deep, which is really on the fringe of too sma…

  15. http://www.roadtovr.com/kopin-prototype-vr-headset-lightning-microdisplay/ EXCERPT: Kopin is touting a new prototype VR headset featuring their 4K OLED ‘Lightning’ microdisplay that they say is made specifically for VR. At nearly half the size of other headsets, and made from lightweight materials, the device feels featherlight compared to VR products on the market today. Kopin is a publicly traded display manufacturer that was founded in 1984. With the massive buzz generated by VR, the firm has turned developed a roadmap for manufacturing displays specifically for VR headsets. Microdisplays by their nature are small and incredibly pixel dense, and also capable …

So. Far from the disinterested eyes of non-gamers, there's been a brewing, growing controversy about VR exclusive releases like the recent Star Trek Bridge Crew. As more of these VR exclusives arrive, a vocal groundswell of discontent has emerged from those who, for whatever reason, have not purchased any of the high-end HMD's needed to use these titles in their intended quality. So far, the battlelines are drawn largely on venues like Reddit and Steam, with angry threads erupting with nearly any VR exclusive, and a very........ passionate, back and forth regarding the new elite (not my word) of people who can afford, or are interested in VR headsets as opp…

  18. http://www.businessinsider.com/apple-wwdc-virtual-reality-is-coming-to-mac-htc-steam-vr-2017-6 Apple is finally bringing virtual reality support to its Mac laptops and desktops, bringing the company up to speed with what many see as the next phase of computing. At Monday's Apple WWDC event in San Jose, the company announced that with this fall's MacOS High Sierra update, the Mac will support external graphics hardware — meaning you can plug in a box and greatly increase your machine's graphical capabilities. In turn, that external hardware will give the Mac the boost it needs to support virtual reality headsets, which require superior performance to create…

  20. can anyone point me to a spot/forum, where the complete(!) installation and configuration procedure for Oculus, FlyInside, vorpX(if needed) and everything else that is needed in order to use the Rift in P3D! I have looked everywhere (that I know) in order not to have to re-invent the wheel, make all the mistakes, suffer all the disappointments,... that others have gone through. BTW; I cannot understand that software companies who live from users using their products, do not give extensive(!) support in setting up all the correct steps for a successful installation!... 25. Prompted by a link from JV over at Orbx, I purchased a set of VR Lens Lab prescription lens inserts for my Oculus Rift. http://vr-lens-lab.com/product/oculus-rift-lens-inserts/ I've been very happy with them, and it's made using my Oculus much less of a chore, since I no longer have to wedge my glasses awkwardly into the HMD, risking scratches to my glasses, the HMD lenses or both. Plus, yanking off the headset for a quick breather or to go check on something is a significantly easier. However, the one small issue is that the lenses can wriggle loose and or become misaligned occasionally with the Oculus lenses. Not a deal breaker or even very common, but it can …
