Hey folks - was just wondering what kind of performance everyone gets in their headsets these days. Im running the Vive pro on a 2080ti with an i9 9900k and 64gb ram and only getting around 9fps on the ground at lga in the fsl bus, so I can only assume its something setting related. Performance was never this bad for me in the NGX on my rift.

Does FlyInside currently work with the latest version of P3D? I now have an Oculus Rift S for use in P3D, version 4.5.12.30293 which works using the native VR in P3D, but am having many issues using FlyInside P3D4 PRO 1.98 OVR 1300 If it is possible to run FlyInside successfully, I believe that I will have to uninstall Chaseplane and REX Environment Force to achieve it - can anyone confirm ? Dave.

  4. https://uploadvr.com/steamvr-rift-s-support/ Valve just added full support for the recently released Oculus Rift S PC VR headset to the SteamVR platform. When the Rift S launched, haptic feedback on the Touch controllers wasn’t working in SteamVR. Valve released a hotfix less than 24 hours later to resolve this. Over the last few weeks, Valve has been expanding support for Facebook’s new headset in SteamVR Beta builds. SteamVR now visually shows the new Touch controllers in the Dashboard, Home, and apps which use the default SteamVR controller model. Before this release, SteamVR (non-Beta) detected the Rift S as a regular Rift with three sen…

I'm pretty sure this is a glitch but I can't figure out how to get rid of it. I like to fly general aviation aircraft, single prop for now. I get in the Beachcraft Bonanza 60th Anniversary and when I look left out the window I notice it has 2 different shader types. Its like the window is split diagonally from upper right side, down to mid-left of the window. It supper annoying and quite jarring to the eye. I've manage to figure out that the issue is coming from it thinking my head is going though the window. If I poke my head outside the window (which is creepy as hell), it goes away. If I pull back inside and lean to the right it does the same thing and looks co…

  7. I've been planning on going VR once 4k headsets are out, reliable, and don't cost a house payment. But I'll admit the Samsung is kinda tempting at around 400 bucks, occasionally on sale for even less. I've found some old first-impression threads about it, but nothing recent. Anyone have it for awhile and have good/bad things to say? I'm running a 1080Ti and a Ryzen 2700x. Getting pretty great framerates right now with the sliders mostly toward the right, Active Sky/Cloud Art, and a bunch of Orbx and Flightbeam sceneries, driving 4 HD monitors. I only slow down slightly in places like LAX or NYC. Can I expect a significant performance drop if I were to grab an Odyssey…

Hello all - Wondering if anyone has seen this issue. I just did a full reformat and reinstall of P3Dv4.5. I've troubleshot this down to native VR messing up my wing view cameras... a whole portion of the fuselage & wing disappears as soon as I enable native VR (using Rift). Dont seem to get the issue on the ground, only in the air. Pictures below.

  13. I'm just setting up my Redbird Jay FS….which arrives today. I see lots of recommendations to use Ezdock with Redbird Jay, but despite looking at the website and google searching I'm at a bit of a loss as to all the references to "cameras". What the heck are they talking about, and what exactly will Ezdock add to the simulator experience? By the way I'm going to use TrackIr with the setup. Also would love to hear about pointers/tips for setting the Redbird Jay up, software advice, or just your experience with the products. Thanks in advance! -Peter

Rift-S: Black screens, jitter, garbled flashes, usb issues? Like many, I have had some moderate trouble with my Rift-S due to glitches seemingly centered around USB compatibility and power. Recently I noticed that my motherboard (Aorus 5 z370) had several types of usb, divided between USB 2.0, 3.0, and 3.1 (both Gen 1 and Gen 2) 2.0 was an obvious wash, as was 3.1(Gen 1) as it had intermittent white flashes/scrambling & jitter. Plain old 3.0 was better, but only the Proprietary Asmedia 3.1 (gen 2) controller seemed to almost completely stabilize the headset, especially when I entered the Motherboard bios and utilized the included feature to up the …

Hello fellow VR captains! I was just wondering, what's everyones flows for VR? IE: Do you typically do most/all preflight work with the headset off - then shift to putting it on? Are most people using native vr vs FI? Since flyinside hasn't had great performance for me lately I've been trying native, but haven't figured out a good flow. Trying to interact with an FMC/MCDU in VR is a bit rough. I was thinking of maybe getting everything setup in 2D first then enabling VR. When you folks fly in VR - do you typically sit in the headset during cruise? One thing I've noticed - and maybe others have found a fix/workaround is - you can't switch audio sources with P3D (an…

I've been using the Rift S for about a week now. I'm currently running a 6700k @ 4.2GHZ and a GTX 1070. Overall I get pretty good performance until I fly into a more dense area or airport. I then start to get artifacts and stutters. How much of a difference would bumping up to a RTX 2080 make?

  19. https://www.roadtovr.com/viveport-infinity-rift-s-index-promotion/ Update (June 3rd, 2019): Starting today, HTC is giving away two free months of Viveport to anyone who owns a Rift or Rift S headset. You’ll find the redeemable code in Viveport by clicking your profile picture (must register) and navigating to ‘REDEEM’ At that point, you can redeem your unique code and then enter your payment details, which will incur an automatic fee after the free trial is over, provided you don’t cancel before the end date. The company says it will be extending the same offer to Valve Index owners later this month, presumably timed with the first wave of Index shipments, which…

Since P3Dv4 came out, I did hundreds of hours of flight with my Oculus Rift CV1. My only complaint is the pixel resolution, which makes it difficult to read small text (i. e. the Aerosoft CRJ displays). One can deal with that by leaning forward or using zoom, but it would also be nice to have a sharper outside view. Sooner or later (probably sooner), I will buy something new. I have browsed through this thread but there are still many questions: - does the HP Reverb support P3D native VR or P3D Steam VR ? - does the higher resolution of the HP Reverb result in a sharper image or is it just theoretically better than the Rift S ? - which of both sets has bett…

  21. SETUP Setup was very simple, following the onscreen prompts, and anyone who has set up a Rift previously will find themselves up and running in probably 15 minutes. Of note is the much appreciated passthrough system and the accompanying ease of setting up the guardian boundary system IPD A worry among some in the community, including myself was regarding the Rift S fixed IPD (interpupillary distance) But having now used the headset, I find that the "sweet spot" of the lenses is such that I found no notable downsides when using the headset with a 70' IPD SOUND Sound is a general suck-fest with no bass response to speak of and a loss of softer sound…

  22. https://uploadvr.com/rift-s-hidden-resolution-setting/ The Oculus Rift S has a fairly hidden setting which changes the headset’s default resolution. The setting does not state the resolution for each choice, but we were able to discover it with some digging. How To Find & Change It To find the resolution setting for Rift S, open the Oculus app, click ‘Devices’ and then click on ‘Rift S and Touch’: In the list of settings that appears, scroll down and find ‘Graphics Preference’: You’ll now see the Graphics Preference panel. This lets you choose between ‘Quality’ and ‘Performance’: The setting can be changed on the fly, there’…
