I trie to fiddle out the best intermediate power settings for climb, cruise, desc. If I dont want to go trough all charts I search for an "fits almost everytime" setting... without destroying the bird. Which one is your main measurement for setting power? BMEP or Manifold Pressure? What are your settings? Thanks!

Hello captains I am currently flying in my 6 on vatsim. I want to type messages in the Vpilot box but it keeps saying; NOT TRANSMITTING ON ANY FREQUENCIES! I have my radio's on the 122.8 but I am not transmitting. Looking in my 6 for the problem I see the MASTER RADIO circuit breakers off (DOWN). I try to clivck them but none is working. Is that because the are from the old radio's? Now I think that my mic is switched off, is that simulated in the 6? Regards Ronald van Ingen

Ok, I am supposed to read the manuals and the tutorials, but as I do with all new aircrafts, I like to get them up in the air as quickly as possible and then, slowly, go through the manuals for better familiarization and, eventually, total command. This is not real life, and my time is limited, so I take short cuts-- like tasting a meal before deciding to read the recipe. I downloaded the DC6 yesterday and, despite glancing at the manuals, I am having difficulty taking the plane for a spin. The auto Engineer panel confuses me. Hey! I just tried the first flight with the DC6. as i started the AFE i noticed a huge FPS drop. My Cursor started blinking when I hover over the clickspots in the VC. I know this problem from a time ago and the solution was to disable the Show cockpit ToolTips checkbox. But this didnt helped.

I've just bought the DC-6 for FSX and was quite shocked that there is no option in the menu to remove the anachronistic radios, which is very odd for me, considering that this is a vintage aircraft, not a modern one. Could someone please confirm that indeed you can't delete those? If you can't make them disappear using the game's menu, is it perhaps possible to delete textures of those radios? I'd much prefer to have a black box with nothing on it than a Bendix radio.

I can't begin to describe exactly what creates the issue. Perhaps the way P3Ds weather changes occur? The propellers occasionally start to fluctuate RPM erratically. #1 and # 3 might stay synced while #2 and #4 begin to bounce around. Its not always the same engines. I abort AFE and try to manually regain control of them with no luck. I hit the Resync button like its going out of style. This doesn't happen every flight, but I cant seem to pinpoint the cause. Any help? On a side note, to PMDG, the Northern Air Cargo and Red Bull liveries main gear wheels are showing black textures. Am I the only one? There may be more, I just haven't had time to go th…

I get the message in the PMDG DC6 - FSX dropdown Please note: You have installed a version of this PMDG product in FSXSE, which means you can also install this software in FSX........ It seems on my setup the wheel well lights do not work correctly. Here is a shot with the wheel well lights off, and the wing lights on: And here a shot with the wing lights off, and the wheel well lights on: So it seems, there is either a massive bleed through using the wing lights, or the wheel well lights are tied to the wing lights, but cannot be switched on independently.. I somehow think this might be not quite correct? The nose wheel well doesn't illuminate at all, regardless which switches are flipped. P3Dv4, dynamic lighting is on.

Can someone help me understand the diagram on page 67? I am trying to understand the goal of making the tank changes. For example, it says that you should switch from mains to alternates about 20 mins after takeoff. Then at some point, you switch 2 and 3 back on main. How do I know when that point is? Same thing for the rest of the changes. I have read through the section on why you should do this correctly, but I can't for the life of me figure out what fuel management goals I need to shoot for throughout the flight. Especially since I will rarely ever do a full fuel flight.

Hello PMDG. I got a crash to desktop today when modifying the range ("zooming") in and out of the GPS (using the 430 model in 2D mode). Is there a log somewhere I could send you via the support system? This is using a pretty much plain P3Dv4. Addons: -Orbx FTX Global, Vector, OpenLC NA and South Alaska. -fsAerodata -AS4+ASCA (ActiveSky) Quick unrelated question: if I purchase FSUICP for its autosave feature, will it save the cockpit state in order to restore the flight exactly how it was? Dear Gents, first I have to apologize for my bad english. Anyway I have one serious problem with the DC 6 and another minor problem. 1. When performing a flight without the AFE during climb phase I get a sudden engine loss down to MAP 20 on all 4 engines. Conditions are clear skies and all procedures in my opinion well done before. No chance to get out of the trouble, aircraft stalls and crashes. With flight with AFE no problems. With manually throttle movement from METO Power the engine bmp runs up an down and the MAP ist very slippery. 2. Good afternoon everyone, So far I've been enjoying this plane on P3DV3. Thanks PMDG for not letting propliner fans down. But there is something wrong with the engine sounds (not talking about directionnal - we're in a cabin ffs - and not talking about the samples themselves, they are good in my opinion). In the sim it looks like old Cloudmaster's engine sounds are only driven by the rpm. Code be like in default airplaines, "ok prop is turning at 2000rpm, play the 2000rpm sample". Like your engine could be OFF or ON, your throttles could be closed or wide open, this makes absolutely no difference in sound as long as the props keep turning.…

Hi, Here goes a thread for general comments and question about the new PMDG DC-6 aircraft for P3D. I'm having a few of each (questions and issues) and thought a place for this should be started. (If this is a bad idea or not something the mods want, I'll understand if this is closed or deleted.) First, a very pretty aircraft and I really like it. Sounds and looks great. Second, my frames are not too good. I'm seeing less than 20 FPS on the ground. I mention this because I generally get very good frames with the PMDG 747 and 737. So, I was surprised by this. Using the PMDG GNS400 I noticed that scrolling down to the very bottom of the active flight plan, the last waypoint is not completely on the screen. Perhaps there is a way to scroll further down but I could not find out how This is the furthest down I could scroll using the cursor and as you can see, the last waypoint, in this case EGCC is not completely visible on the GPS screen. Is there any way to scroll further down? Could someone check if it's happening there too please? Thanks a bunch!

Noticed yesterday morning departing in the dawn, that in outside view the red cockpit light is seen through the fuselage. It was basically sunrise. Can't recall seeing the same "phenomenon" at night though but I will further investigate. P3D V4.

Hi guys. I have a doubt: The manual says on page 212 "Trottles—adjust to 1000 engine rpm until engine and cabin supercharger oil temperatures are up to the minimum." Every time i do that on the ground, the oil pressure is bellow the minimum by just a bit, and the oil warning light is on. Is that normal? or is it hurting the engines? Should i let them idle at 1000? or i should increase the rpm just until the light goes out? Thanks

When ready to taxi, with throttles in the idle position, I release the brakes and the aircraft immediately begins to move and steadily accelerates. I can only maintain a sensible taxi speed by riding the brakes. This occurs at all weights and irrespective of the AFE being in use or not. Reducing RPM has only a minimal effect. Hi Guys Ive encountered this on initial install and reinstall, each time i try to type in the ICAO airport code into the gps it appears to be doubling up on the letters for example if I try and type in YPDN i get YYPPD This happens with both the 400 and 430, however If I use the dial and do it the slow way there is no problem anyone else experiencing this?

Since I don't have a yoke and separate throttle quadrant/propeller controls and rudder pedals, I searched here at Avsim as well as Google/Bing to find information on operating the DC-6 in Prepar3D v4 with just the subject joystick and a mouse. I also searched the Introduction manual and both tutorials (X-Plane versions on PMDG site) and didn't find anything explaining if this is possible. My joystick has roll/pitch/yaw axes as well as a small throttle lever. I would love to buy this aircraft, but want to be sure I'll be ok with just the Extreme 3D joystick before doing so. Thanks in advance for any comments.

Hello PMDG team, I am looking very much forward to explore the Austrian alps with the 6 - nevertheless, I encountered a problem during my first session. My setup: Saitek Cessna Yoke and three axis throttle quadrant. For all aircraft, I have set up my throttles via FSUIPC - two engine aircraft with throttle 1 for lever one and throttle 2 for lever 2. For four engine aircraft I have engines 1+2 for throttle 1 and engines 3+4 for lever 2. So far so good. My problem: I found that when configuring the PMDG DC-6 via FSUIPC it would not work.
