PMDG DC-6 Cloudmaster

  1. Started by moish,

Hello Team, I must be doing something wrong, I did not figure that out yet and will appreciate a hint. From the default controls of the aircraft, yaw and throttle axis are fine while pitch and roll do not respond. Other default / PMDG aircraft responds ok. P3Dv4, clean install with all DC-6 default options. Reinstall did not help. I am a bit lost. Appreciate your support. Moshe

  2. Hello Pilots! Maybe everyone knows this site already, but before I knew it I struggled with finding REAL vintage flight schedules. I use it know for a long time and it is so helpful when I fly these beautiful old propliners in a real way. So I wanted to post this link here if someone else is searching for real historic flightplans. Also I like to just watch these old flyers, the drawings and the general appearence of them, they look nice. http://www.timetableimages.com/index.htm Have fun and always three green!

  3. Hello, I'm flying and really enjoying the DC-6. I'm using P3Dv4. My question to the community is this: how can I map joystick buttons to autopilot functions? If I knew the control names, I could do it. I fully understand how to use FSUIPC. It's that there's so many entries in FSUIPC for autopilot functionality... I'm wanting to map the following items: On/Off switch Alt Hold switch The disengage lever (sorry to not recall its name) An axis (if possible) or buttons to the gyropilot left/right knob Mode selector (gyropilot, localizer and approach) Glide wheel or pitch wheel up/down I'd be very grateful if someone …

Hi all, Bought the DC6 today for FSX, I have to say it is amazing! One question which I think I might have sorted but just want confirmation. Would I be right saying that all four throttle levers work as one when working through my Seitek throttle quadrant through FSUIPC. I notice PMDG used F2 and F3 in order to get the reverse thrust working correctly, but I guess in order to do so they ganged all four throttles as one, ie just one working throttle lever not four. Not a problem if they did, just asking.

  5. Hi PMDG, I know you guys have released a fantastic product, but for your consideration I have two requests for features at some point in the future. 1.) Enable the pneumatic brake system please. I know it's labelled INOP (and probably is on the real aircraft), but It's tempting to look at that fully charged air bottle and know that I cannot ever use it 2.) Animate the windshield heat exhaust levers. The manual instructs us that these switches must be set to NORMAL (Under floor) when the window heat is set to ANTI-ICE. Unfortunately, the levers cannot be moved (I can't even find the CA one.) Thanks for the consideration, Robert Toten

Hi all, So i'm extremely pleased with this product. I have come across zero problems. It took me a while to notice that it actually logs the airframe hours. I'm wondering if there is a way to reset this at all? I have done some little test flights and just played around first of all but now i've learnt a lot after reading all the documents i'd like to record the air frame hours from scratch with proper flights that i do. Is this possible? I'm wondering if i would need to remove it and reinstall it?

  7. Hello, There are descriptions of entire systems DELETED from the manual, and many checklist items have been DELETED (presumably relating to those systems). I know it's been mentioned that many items have been removed because they are not relevant to the simulator... but curiosity is getting the best of me! What sort of things have been removed, this airplane feels so complete already . What more could Douglas possibly fit into it? Thanks, Robert Toten

Does one have to have a flight plan to pull up the moving map to just tool around for some familiarizing air work? Seems to be the case.

  9. I've noticed a slight problem with some of the sounds that seem to be missing or intermittent. The sounds for the armrest folding and stowing the engineers seat don't play for me at all. The sound files are in the sim folder. Also, the parking brake on/off sound plays on a somewhat random basis. Sometimes it works, sometimes not. Anyone else noticed this? Also regarding sounds, is it correct that there's almost no ambient sound in the flight deck with no engines running. Turn the electrics on and we hear almost nothing. Should there not be some kind of background 'buzz', maybe from the flight instrument inverters and gyros? I may be wrong, maybe it's accurate. I gues…

  10. Hi all, I keep getting a crash to desktop when switching to external views with the AFE enabled in cruise. This is only happening with this aircraft. Unsure how to see if there is a problem with the new event viewer in Windows 10. Kind regards Greg

I'm having a recurrent problem with the DC-6: on touchdown the P3D crashes... it happens in various airports... I unistalled and instaled again the P3D V4, but the problem continues... As far as I know, this only happoens with the DC-6, not with the NGX or with any other add-on... SOmeone experiencing the same problem?

  12. Started by JoeDiamond,

Does the approach mode have glide slope tracking ability or is it strictly a lateral mode? The POH isn't terribly clear but seems to imply that it has the ability.

  13. Started by Wothan,

First of all - Thanks for a great Aircraft. But I found that having ADE set to "Cruise" causes heavy stutter - Turning off the AFE brings smooth flight back again. I wonder if it is caused by the AFE constantly overloading the sim with input commands, maybe fighting some of my axis'. Note that I use CH-Products Fighterstick, Throttle Quadrant and Rudder pedals. Aileron, Elevator, Rudder, Left/Right Brakes are setup in FSUIPC with "Send direct to FSUIPC Calibration". Throttle 1-4, Propeller ser and Steering Tiller are setup in FSUIPC with "Send to FS as normal axis".

Now that I have the aircraft in the air and can do touch and go's, I am trying to figure out how to use 4 switches to engage the prop pitch reversers individually. Ctr-W is for all, but cannot figure out how to do it for each individual engine. I've got a 4 lever quadrant, thus I want to explore this option. Thanks tony

  16. First - love, love, love the DC-6! But I do have questions and i cant find the answers in the documentation (if they are there please be kind when pointing it out to me). Does the simulation model autofeather? if so how it is enabled/disabled? How are the autofeather test switches to be used? What makes the blue lamps near the autofeather switchs illuminate? i think i understand how to test manual feather during runup with the feather push/pull switches (set 1500 RPM, push manual feather switch in, look for appx 300 RPM drop, pull switch back out) but if that's wrong please correct me. Many thanks for a very fine simulation! Marc Musgrove

  17. Started by cubs,

I just purchased the PMDG DC-6 for P3Dv4. After assigning all of the flight controls and engine controls through FSUIPC5, everything worked fine except the throttles. I have tried with the gust lock installed and removed. I even tried assigning through P3D controls instead of FSUIPC. I am using the CH throttle quadrant, yoke and pedals. Thank you for any help. New at this..using the AFE and when he says..starting engines or something like that..the green bar says "Workflow:before start No active AI Step, workflow complete. Status: Maintaining" what is that and how do I get the AFE to start the engines.. Tired of watching planes go by lol. Thanks, Bob M.

Thanxs for this beautiful bird! The Panel Status in the 747 / 777 can be saved via FMC for a new Flight after a new start of the FSX. Is it possible to do so in the DC-6? Or is there a Chance that PMDG offer this in a upcoming Update?

Hi all Firstly this is a magnificent add on which I am really enjoying. Well done PMDG. However I have one small issue, which is certainly no show stopper but a little annoying My DC-6 does not record / Save the Engine / Propeller / Airframe health or hours. Each time I start the sim with the same repaint I get a fresh DC-6. As I say, not a show stopper, but I was kind of looking forward to seeing how long I could make the machinery last. I have left a ticket in support but I don’t expect a fast response given the other commitments the PMDG team currently have. I was hoping others hear may be able to point me in the correct direction as t…

  21. I know the flight plans were left out by mistake, no biggie, but in P3Dv4, where are the referenced scenarios located that we're supposed to load up at start, particularly for the second tutorial? I have made my own by now, but it be nice to have the referenced ones that include the specific location at KSEA, fuel load, PAX, time of day and aircraft set-up details, etc. Bill Barrette

Hi guys! Im wondering if the included GPS is the default one with just a "skin" or if this is custom made by pmdg? If it is custom made, how complete is it? Is it possible to update its nav data?

  24. Hey everyone! I'm enjoying learning about this aircraft. However using the water alcohol injection system didn't work as I expected it despite multiple attempts. Maybe I'm missing something simple. I tried to do a wet takeoff (PoH pg 179 chapter 13.6.2). However, even when the water pressure indicates it's working, the green water flow lights do not come on ever. I followed the instructions for takeoff with the W/A injection on. The PoH says for the wet takeoff "If the green lights do not come on, do not increase power above the “dry” take-off horsepower rating." So, am I missing something, or did anyone else get those flow lights to light up? I tried it from se…

  25. Started by Rhinozherous,

Hey pilots! Currently I am setting up views and controls for the awesome DC6 in FSX... is anyone aware of an possible key assignment for the AP Turn knob? Because of the position and the limitations in sim (you know, no real arms and hands) it seems impossible to turn the aircraft left or right while looking out of the window. I have the payware version of FSUIPC but did not find an assignment so far. Thank you very much!
