Hey All, WAAAAAAAAY back on the aft overhead there are the ignition advance switches, which change the engine ignition timing based on the switch position. Is this implemented? I couldn't tell if there was a difference in flight. Thanks

Just bought the P3Dv4 version and loving it. Perhaps this is a stupid question, but how do you see the engines from the cockpit to count propeller blade turns during engine startup? In the sim version; I know in the real aircraft you can look out the window and back towards the engines.

Hello, On a video, I noticed that the position lights blink. Just out of curiosity, I've never seen that on any aircraft, is it an error? THX

I can't find the hydraulic pressure gauge, posted this in the unofficial x-plane.org forum but so far no answer. So I'll try it here, can anyone give me a hint in the right direction where this gauge can be found.

When running the AFE preflight flow most of the time the AFE does turn the Number 3 boost pump to LOW. So when he calls "Start Engines" the No 3 boost pump is already set to LOW. However on this occasion it was the second time already when that particular step was omitted, in fact the AFE did not turn the boost pump to LOW. Does it have to do with the environment or the amount of fuel in the tanks maybe?

Is the virtual flight engineer supposed to manage fuel? I planned a flight using the PFPX profile and loaded the aircraft with 7000 lbs of fuel. On decent engines 1 and 4 flamed out but looking at the fuel panel I had lots of fuel in the Aux tanks. I would have thought the VFE would switch over the tanks at the right time but that did not happen and I wonder why as he was in the green for Cruise and "maintaining" the entire time.

Hey, i have a problem with the P3D V4 version, when using the flight engineer to take off (dry) when it moves the throttles to 100 % it only moves one of them not all of them, I have a Saitek throttle set up though fsuipc I also noticed that when I did it manually I couldn't to exceed 62 in ground speed on full power at 50 % load. Any ideas how to fix this? James O'sullivan

Hello to all: I wonder if there are a few "seasoned" DC-6 pilots, who could advice on any "tricks" or "rules of thumb" that will assist in "nailing" the heading to which we want to turn, using the autopilot turn knob. I find that I am "chasing the heading" a bit until the airplane settles on the heading I want to fly. Obviously, how much I "miss" the desired heading on the first turn, depends on the bank I have allowed, the airspeed and, likely, also at what point I pushed the centering metal plate (on top of the turn knob). But I have never (yet) managed to get the airplane to return to nice level flight, on the heading I wanted. If anybody could adv…

I'm sure this has been asked before but I searched and couldn't find anything pertaining to my question: Why are there eight throttles for four engines? Just asking. ;)

Just like for the A2A Boeing 377 Stratocruiser and L049 Constallation, here is an updated version for the PMDG DC-6A/B of my Weather Ship Radio gauge. The zip file contains the Weather Ship Radio gauge itself, as well as installation instructions for all 3 addons, Manual and Google Earth .kmz file displaying the coordinates of the Weather ships in both the Atlantic and Pacific. Have fun - and feel free to ask for troubleshooting and other kinds of support. https://www.dropbox.com/s/tovbjnqp3nbsdpz/Weatherships.zip?dl=0

I keep receiving content errors for the GPS 430 gauge pmdg_gns430b--invalid script. Also there are references to missing gauge image files, e.g. pmdg_dc6_03g_4.bmp. Any suggestions or comments--Thanks-- Robert Willis

I was climbing 20,000 FT . I realized DC-6 VC cockpit screen started slowly became dim. Then couple second after all screen was dark. I switched the view to outside momentarily screen turns normal then completely went dark again. No dark incident happened with 747-400.I completed KEWR-KSEA long flight with out any problem. What is happening with DC-6 ? Will you please advise how to solve the problem. Thanks

Hi. Bin a while since i tracked down radials and was wondering after an episode with EKRN ROE VOR 112.00 radial 270 setting course to 090 and tracking inbound with no issue. But after crossing ROE VOR the aircraft starts to bank left and right. Why is that? The Nav gauge is showing outbound. Next about the glideslope. Is there a common procedure? If i am stable on the localizer with alt hold and the needled GS is moving i tried moving to Aproach mode but it does not capture. Thanks Michael Moe

I decided to bring the DC-6 to an environment where it flew for many years as a passenger carrier and in its later years, as a cargo or mainly, a meat-hauler, across the Andes mountains in South America. I flew her from the new airport in Sucre, Bolivia, named Alcantari (SLAL) 10,000 feet ASL, to Tarija (SLTJ) at 6,000 feet ASL. I was careful in my planning, not to overload with either fuel or freight, as at that altitude, the airplane can become a "very fast bus", and never reach Vr, forget V2! My planned flight altitude was 20,000 feet ASL, to avoid the mountain range between the two cities. starting the engines was a bit laborious, again at the altitude…

I have been flying the Cloudmaster now for the past three days. Most of my time has been buried in the documentation. I have pretty much finished my checklist and have spent my time flying out of KBOI and shooting ILS approaches. My first comment is that this simulation hand flys as smooth as can be. So far, my main negative comment is in regards to the auto-pilot (AP). Actually, I'm not complaining about the actual AP. It all works fine. My main problem is getting to it. I fly with three WS monitors. I would give anything to have a pop-up of the pedestal. Now, it seems the only way to look at the AP, the gear and flap handles, etc., is to use my hat switch to g…

I can not get the flaps to extend for landing. Before I take off I make sure the flaps are working by cycling through a full extend and retract cycle a few times and all is OK. I made sure my airspeed is in the white zone before I select the first down setting, the lever moves but the flaps stay up and the gauge reeds zero. Even if I get the FE to do it he reports flap 20 has been reached but nothing happened. All other hydraulic systems like the landing gear seems to be fine. What am I missing?

Hi, I read in the Introduction manual that the AFE is supposed to maintain a carb air temp of 15C but in all phases of flight with the AFE on this is remaining at around -5C. While the AFE is enabled I am unable to manually control this and the only way to manage this is to abort the AFE and do it manually. Is anyone else experiencing the AFE not managing this? Kind regards Greg

Hello, I tried my first serious flight of the DC-6B (FSX:A). Very beautiful aircraft, I am more than happy. I only have some small observations which I will make as new forum topics. In this case, there is no default viewpoint for the First Officer seat. Many views for the Captain and Flight Engineer, but the poor right seater gets no love. I would like to fly from the right seat (and better view the hydraulic pressure) but as I use TrackIR I cannot use head tracking and shifting my view to the right. Thanks, Robert Toten

On approach I clicked on the range button of the PMDG GNS400 in order to get a closer view and immediately crashed to desktop. This was the last time I used the default GPS. Haven't touched it for years, now started to use it since there is no better option at the moment for the DC-6 but I will rather revert back to VOR and NDB navigation until Flight1 makes their GNS430 P3DV4 compatible. I am using the guide that was posted elsewhere ( http://www.stpaulairlines.com/spa-training/Ground/Historical/fly_dc-6b.htm ) in these forums to fly the DC-6 without the flight engineer. The issue is that in cruise I am seeing the engines going into the yellow (I am talking on the PMDG engine health page not in the aircraft) but can't figure out why. I do notice the instructions below suggest cruise MP of 35 RPM of 2000 while the PMDG engineer moves the RPM up to 2300....I can't imagine this difference would cause engine damage. I should also say that at cruise I do have the cowl flaps on the cruise setting. *With brakes on, advance throttle to about 30 in …

Texas was warm today, 85 degrees. Used to the Connie, I decided to start the #3 early to get the cabin cool but realized I had no idea how to cool the cabin of the DC-6. I've been trying for more than an hour now. Heat works fine if I want to give my passengers heat stroke, but cannot figure out a way to cool the cabin down. Turbine is on, the thermostat is all the way to cool and the Cabin Temp Mix Valve Position is fully cool. I tried using AFE for everything just to make sure I wasn't missing anything. What'd I miss?
