Greetings, I've been using the PMDG DC-6 for a few days now. I have not gotten a chance to dive too deep yet. The first few flights I did the engines performed normally with no issues, but on the last couple legs, from engine start to shut down, there has been a constant white smoke coming off of the engines. I checked the engine health and they were all green. I was just curious if this is normal or maybe I'm doing something wrong? The AFE was also used for all these flights. Thanks, Matt Dickinson

Hello. A quick question, though I guess the answer might have to wait. But is there any plan to support X-Plane 11. It's just been announced and from their information, anything that works with the latest version 10 update should still work. But of course the EULA and the installer won't probably just for it. So just curious to know about this, when it's possible to know Best regards

I´m having a problem figuring out how to make all 4 throttles move with one throttle on my thrustmaster. Been through a lot of documentation and gone through calibration options and setting in x plane. To be precise I´ve come so far to move 1 and 4 all the way forward but 2 and 3 stopping half way to full throttle Can anyone assist me here. Árni Stefán

Dear team, I had some longer flights with the DC 6 this weekend and as you know, you start looking around when there isn't much to do, even in the DC 6. I noticed that for example in the Empress of Suva Livery for the cargo version, the nose color when seen from the virtual cockpit is black, while in the livery it is white. This does not occur on the passenger versions (e.g. blue nose like in SAS, UTA, PAA). Is there a specific part within the paintkits that needs to be whitened extra from the standard fuselage color of the nose? This is a rather small bug, however, is there a solution anyways? I even have the impression that this only occus in the cargo …

Hey all! Very interested in buying this airplane, but I have a question. I generally stick to single pilot aircraft and or simple multicrew planes since I can't stand not having a Co-pilot. I'm a real world pilot and I just can't get over having to fly a complex multicrew airplane without any help. I see that this airplane has a virtual flight engineer which is fantastic, but all the videos that I see using it, it seems like just a click and watch sort of thing. You start the before start checklist and just listen to it happening, then start the engines and move on to the next step... which is cool, but not entirely realistic. That would be nice for the after takeoff,…

Guys, new to this aircraft so trying to fly Lesson 1. Everything is fine prior to getting the aircraft to follow the direct GPS route to Okare, this includes engaging the autopilot and controlling the direction using the pedestal controller, alas the instant I turn the gyropilot control knob to the localiser setting the electrical release light comes on and the autopilot drops out. I can see the GPS reflects the command to go direct to the Okare WP, the aircraft unfortunately resents the idea of doing that. It has worked once but in all other instances this scenario repeats no matter what I do. Would appreciate any thoughts, regards Barry Sheridan

Hi, Is anyone running the DC-6 on 10.50 RC3? Any problems? I don't want to update XPlane if it will create issues with the DC-6. Rob Smith.

Hi folks, waiting impatiently for the FSX DC-6 and after having read many of the 1950s DC-6 timetables (see my other thread http://www.avsim.com/topic/492268-dc-6-routings-timetables-lets-collect/ with most helpful links) now I wonder how navigation was done preGPS and preINS and preNAT. Maybe I should be more specific. Of course I know about navigators using sextants etc. See also on Wiki article on 'Transatlantic flight'. This is on 'Where am I?' My question is more on the *aviate* in aviate-navigate-communicate. If I know where I want to fly to, how to set the heading appropriately? Without GPS or weather charts I know little about the actual win…

Is it normal for the PMDG PlugIn to disappear, when adding other plugins to xplane? when I run xp with no other plug ins the PMDG DC-6 Plugins appear in the plugins menu and the left side tabs appear and can be used, but if i add fly with lua or world traffic or anything else the PMDG plug in disappears from the plug in menu in xp and the left side tab disappear also, so do I just have to run PMDG DC-6 with no other plug ins for it to function correctly?

I just picked the DC-6 up today, and I wanted to express my thanks for bringing this excellent product to X-Plane. I love nostalgic aircraft, and this is just awesome in quality and immersion. X-Plane has received a significant boost with this product. Nice job PMDG! Cadmus Hawke

I have flown many, many aircraft on virtually all platforms, including the PMDG jets on FSX and Prepar3d. This aircraft is by far the best of anything out there. I am astonished at how well it flies, handles, takes off and lands. It is a joy to handfly and for the first time in any sim, actually feels like a real airplane in terms of the way it handles. For anyone considering the leap to xplane, this is the aircraft to fly, forget about everything else. Admittedly my time is low, and I have made extensive use of the AFE, but again, this is one of the many draws of this plane. You can gradually learn its systems without being overwhelmed. I can't say i have any complai…

Paintkit is missing the front gearbox texture Fuselage divide leaks light, very noticeable when rotating the view and looked from the rear on a shallow angle to the side of the fuselage. Weird normalmap behaviour on default livery "Scandinavian Airline System" I bought the aircraft 16th of this month so i should be up to speed with all the recent updates. -Niilo Merikalla

I havent flown the DC6 in a few weeks. Just loaded it up today and I see 2 coclipts, one low res, the other normal. I looks like th ePMDG plugin is not loaded. I have no PMDG menu's either. I do not see the plugin listed in my plugins menu. I re-installed the plane again using the latest installer and still no good. Not sure what else to try? Robert Feddersen

AM I the only one who thinks that the cowl flaps are a bit too efficient? There should be a much higher heat ratio here.

Quoted from PMDG support "We did read your ticket and have seen your forum post. Just so we are clear, your choice not to use Throttle Hardware is a choice you have made, not a bug in the software. 99% of our customer base who run the DC-6 (and other products as well) use Throttle hardware. That leaves 1% of users who choose to use a keyboard only set up. Our decision not to create separate key commands for Reverse Thrust for keyboard only users (currently 1% of customers) is not a bug, is was by design. " Where does this figure come from? 99% of your users? Thats bull! You do not state this anywhere in the manuals or information on the purchase screen. It is…

Hi team, I've noticed that, after flying the DC-6, when I try to fly another aircraft (IXEG 737, FlyJ 737 are the only ones I've flown after the DC-6), I lose tiller control. Rudder will work, but not tiller. After an X-Plane reboot, the tiller on the 737's works fine. Just an observation, easy workaround, just wondered if others had noticed. Thanks Bill KGSP

After being unable to power back the DC-6 (it actually would move forwards) I decided to take a look at the datarefs when applying reverse pitch while breaking and this somewhat strange picture developed: As you can see immediately after applying reverse the prop pitch (in red) jumps from +12 to -25 only to drop back quickly to 0. The thrust (green - right axis) follows but has that weird double peak - at first I assumed that it was due to the throttle (yellow) being pushed further back, but it is also present if you do not touch the throttle at all. Shortly after the pitch reaches 0 the reverse thrust diminishes with aircraft speed (blue) and actually pr…

Some kind of smoke effects when doing a runout would be really nice. Justflight has this effect on thier version of the DC-6B payware.

The DC-6 has multiple systems for fuel heat, anti-icing etc.. and I wondered if fuel freezing was modelled/the fuel heaters operated, and about things like air-frame icing, etc..? I'm still new to X-Plane and learning about what it supports in this area, and what I can expect from the DC-6? Could someone more familiar with X-Plane go over what it supports/models in this area? Thanks! Rob Smith.
