Hi guys, Really enjoying the DC-6 and new 1.10 update, thank you for the quick turnaround! I noticed (since initial release) that manipulating the audio selector panel and toggling between COM1 and COM2 radio does not affect/change X-Plane's internal dataref for selected transmission radio; i.e. COM1 is always selected for transmission regardless of the position and manipulation of the selectors on the audio panel. It remains possible to toggle between COM1 <-> COM2 by using a custom assigned X-Plane shortcut or joystick button, it's just not tied to the plane gauges. Can you please have a look at this, it's quite useful when flying online in a controlled en…

In true 'release party' style; Where are you going to be basing your new old ( ) PMDG DC-6 when she is delivered to you? I recently got X-Plane 10 to try another aircraft and I've been hooked but it does mean my world of nice looking scenery is sparse and as such choosing a base of operations is tricky! Of course you can fly it anywhere but I prefer to choose a base and go from there but that is just me, what about you?

Much to Kyle's delight, I launched straight in after installing, skipping those handy manuals because I'm totally used to flying larger aircraft than the DC-6, like the 777 and 737! Set it to "Ready For Taxi" aircraft state, lowered the flaps and off I went! Controls were locked and I flew straight into a mountain. I remember back when the 777X was released and there was huge emphasis on how it wasn't just a beefed up NGX, we have to read the manuals. That was nothing compared to this! I'm in love with the old school glass gauges and overwhelming lack of automation! All I've ever known was glass flight decks What a gorgeous plane PMDG have made for XP. Can't wait to…

Hello all: As I am sure we all have learned, entering a plan with many waypoints in the GPS is tedious. PDMG (bless them) have realized this and on Pg 8 of Tutorial #1, state that "In order to get mouse wheel support, which will increase the speed of entering the plan, you may want to click on the screen of the GPS to pop out the 2D pop up" Did all that but I have not been able to get the mouse wheel to assist. At this rate, carpal tunnel surgery will be inevitable!! :-) :-) Any help is always greatly appreciated. Roberto (Currently climbing to FL200 between SLTR and SLLP with the FP reduced from 12 points to 4 ......:-) :-) )

Hi Team, I really love your rendition of the DC-6, thanks so much! One of the joys of having a vintage airliner like this is re-creating some memories as a passenger--(even if only for short times in cruise!) With the cockpit door open, and stairs down, I still can exit the 3D "shell". Nor can I open the cockpit door to get to the cabin (which a pilot might need to do). Am I missing a trick to getting to the cabin to set up some views? Thanks so much Bill

I like to hear some opinions about his points on engine start and flight model, especially about the roll movement. Are these valid points or not. I am not a real pilot but read books about flight dynamics and am wondering about his arguments.

Hello, It seems I have an issue, possibly with the situation file though I am not sure of this. I'm trying to do obviously the first tutorial, the issue I face is that right after loading the situation both the aileron and ruder axises are displaced. at first I thought it was a controller issue so I check my axises assignment and also restarted x-plane and checked after removing the gust lock it looks good. As soon as I load the situation file both the aileron and rudder trim are immediately deflected, the control column is deflected to the left, the rudder is not centered either, and I see the elevator trim change gradually. I have no other axises than ai…

Hello, The AFE dynamically performs the checklists for all aircraft management steps. Excellent. Missing the checklist for the climb step in the list of the AFE checklists. Would it be possible to implement the AFE's climb checklist in a next update? ---- The modeled Douglas DC-6 is excellent. Congratulations for this modeling. ---------------------------- Jean-Pierre Richaume

I can't seem to get the lights to work. I set the aircraft to one of the preset states (those buttons work) but the 3 light presets don't seem to work for me, or the rotaries that I've tried in the cabin. Its probably me being daft but anyone else seen this? I did try doing it in total darkness in Thanks.

Hello, I have successfully activated the product (at least I got the message), but I cant move the camera or set any customized view using the X-Plane built-in camera system. If I change to the outside view, everything works normally. I am also having a problem with the night textures on a default livery: Any thoughts? Thanks. Thiago Braun

Hi there, the POH states not implemented but the cabin heater master switch indeed does some things: you can heat up the cabin but even when only battery connected. So my question is: is this switch the cabin heater which uses fuel or is this the master switch for cabin heating? As far as I understood the manuals the cabin is heaten up by air warmed by the engines and there's an alternate fuel using cabin heater which uses fuel from No 2 main. The second question is: what is the Aux Blower switch right of the magneto switches. The POH page 27 even does not have this switch in the picture. Thanks in advance.

Hi, guys! I noticed something is not right regarding the DC-6's fuel system. The DC-6 can fly for about 9 hours or about 2,400 nautical miles instead of about 15-16 hours or about 4,000 nautical miles like the real DC-6 flies. Does anyone else notice this? Thanks! Cheers, Vincent Majerowicz

Guys this thing is absolutely amazing just noticed a couple of things on my first test flight. Could be isolated to my sim because of plugins but I will post regardless. First is I noticed a loud popping noise when moving in and out of the exterior and interior views. It wouldn't happen all the time but it was noticeable. Second is that the #1 engine cowl flaps don't seem to move, all the other ones seemed ok. Finally not a bug but a feature request; a system like the IXEG 733 or the FF 767 that blocks any input from your hardware levers until they are near the sim ones would be nice to avoid those sudden jumps experienced when turning off the AFE. Cheers and great jo…

Hi, a couple of carb heat issues, most likely pilot error. 1. After landing and taxing to the terminal in a very warm region ambient 40c, carb heat is fine with the engines running, I then shutdown to park, once every thing is off, cold and dark after about a minute a message pops up stating carb heat is causing engine damage, if I open the Maintenance Manager I can see the engines go from green, yellow, orange, red to black. If I turn power back on to observe carb temp they are all sitting at about 40c. How do I prevent this short of staying out of hot climates? 2. If I utilize the AFE during cruise, once the AFE status is in maintaining mode, it moves all the Ca…

Any chance of that happening? It is one of the biggest advantages of X-Plane imo. I love the sound effects on rain. The raindrops would match them perfectly. Thanks Thiago Braun

Hearing some talk through different streams and forums that the dc6 overrides x-plane's flight model and utilizes it's own, based on fsx/p3d engine to make a future port easy. Is this really the case? Did i just buy another train simulation? :-(

Hi. I'm a Mac OS user, so I'm waiting for the Mac release. But I'm wondering: why is there the X-Plane GNS430? Isn't it an anachronism? I guess the immersion could be challenged using this modern GPS unit in this old bird.

Many thanks for the hard work that went into the tutorials,Kyle, It's appreciated very much. It wasn't until I saw Pete's (frooglesim) video that I expressed much interest in the DC6. I was going to buy it at some point, but I've been won over by the sights, sounds and excellence of this bird/product/plane. Thanks again A Very Happy customer, with a non-too happy wife :Broken Heart:

Interesting to see the contrast in new topics that appear on Avsim between the Dc-6 and T7 a week after release. The T7 flooded the topic of conversation on Avsim for 2 years solid after it's release. Now, a week after the DC-6 was released, hard to find mention of it when you log onto Avsim. Of course, the DC-6 was never meant to be a commercial blockbuster, rather an intro for PMDG into X Plane. But personally, I find the DC-6 much more interesting an thought provoking compared with the T7. But I'm in the minority I know. Speaking of marketing on PMDG's part, as Dire Straights would say," Them guys ain't dumb." They know what sells and what doesn't. So all those who co…

Maybe someone could help, when I move my throttle (Warthog) only the DC-6 Lever Eng 1 and 2 (right and left) move, Lever Eng 3 and 4 don't move, shouldn't all 4 levers move together? -Paul Cartier

Hey fellow simmers, when downloading the British Eagle cargo livery (DC6A) on the PMDG page, I get the DC6B livery of that plane. The livery for the cargo version is not loaded correctly on the DC6A. Is this a false location of the file at your download page?

Just wanted to start off by saying love your DC-6 ive got about 20 hours between both frames right now (with many more to come) and that this neither a request nor a suggestion. Just something i thought could be cool. I've noticed a lot of the cargo operators don't really like to use the front doors on the DC-6 DC-4 and a lot of them just use a ladder at the cargo door with a rope. thought it would be pretty cool to add that to the A as just some icing on the cake. the video here -> Shows what i mean. while yes not a DC-6 (c-46 to be exact ive seen Buffalos DC-4 and they use the same method. Cheers! Brenden Mock

Hello First thanks to all involved with the DC6(wife for cash also) I have a problem with what sounds like hissing static on the same channel as the engines. The sound is there with engines sound and volume level matches the slider output level. The hiss is external on all views and internal at same noise level. No issues with other aircraft or other software. Please note i read all dc6 forum posts related to sound before posting here. I followed all the guidance found with them.I also re-downloaded the aircraft and re-installed. Amd7850k,Kingstonhyperx2133mhz(16gb)R9 280.Creative soundblaster z pcie soundcard. All other sound(hdmi through gpu)and onboard are disabl…
